The U.N has not placed any conditions on Israel withdrawing to the 1967 borders. Israel has simply been instructed to comply with international law and pull back to the 1967 borders. Stop trying to muddy the water by making excuses for the occupation with talk of Jordan having started it. It's a bit pathetic.

And as far as the answer to your question as to where my understanding comes from, Angelica was right to say that it simply comes down to perception. It is, unconveniently for you i expect, just as simple as that. The situation in the Middle East isn't as complicated and mysterious as people like yourself often attempt to portray it. The truth of the situation is there for all to see.
But this Byrnize guy who claims to know me has started no less than 20 anti-israel threads on this board. Much of which is filled with hateful garbage. And he thinks I was banned. Funny. To the credit of the mods here they allow free speech even if it is so blatantly filled with hate.

which is deplorable. also the discrimination is not legally enshrined. they are legally equal citizens of the state. discrimination is social in nature. which is not to say that it isn't a bad thing.

Where they are told everyday where and when they can go.....

Where many live on a diet comparable to less-wealthy African nations...

Where they can't leave b/c Israel refuses to give passports at its discretion....

Where they have been living in glorified refugee camps since Israel's formation...

Where they see even private Palestinian land taken and built upon.....

Where they are constantly reminded of Camp David and how THEY are responsible for this intractable affair (even though Camp David would have seen Palestinain areas cut up into hundreds of parcels of land and divided by Israeli-controlled roads which they would not be able to cross).

You are confusing Palestinians living in Israel (aka Israeli Arabs) which is what is under discussion, with those living in the occupied territories. and some of your info is shoddy.

I wasn't limiting my comments to that group of people. And what in particular do you find shoddy ?

Not just social, but also 'official' discrimination. They are not equal citizens. The examples in my post are 'real' examples. The villages not being recognized, the land not being for them to purchase, not being able to bring palestinian spouses (from outside israel) to live in israel... etc. Any other citizen of Israel have those rights. There are many more 'official' acts of discrimation. Social discimination is rampant (and I will say - so as not to be treated as nazi) that discrimination exists all over but it is very strongly felt by arabs in Israel and it is very difficult for them there.

In Israel???? Be real.. palestinians are an ethnic minority. I won't deny there is prejudice but discrimination??? Nope. Read my post... we're talking 'formal' and 'approved' discrimination.

The op-ed you posted made no metion of continued Palestinian violence, nor the active support of it from many of the groups mentioned.

Furthermore, it made absolutely no mention of those states rejecting that very same "obvious solution" in 1947.

In short, the post read like a call to arms. A call to arms is not and cannot be a call for peace.

Just as if you read any report of world war 2, for example, you'll probably find no criticism of the French resistance or any criticism of the partisans across Europe.
And there is a reason for this.
Think about it and see if you can think why..

ive never posted here. ive read this board but not engaged it because i did not want to get involved in pointless debate with some of morons on here. i found the palestinians i met to be lovely warm people. unlike you i choose to actually educate myself by leaving my little cocoon and seeing the world myself before making a decision. the news media is no place to get educated. i have been to a number of islamic countries and found the conditions in many islamic countries to be deplorable. this has to do with the fact that their barbaric rulers choose not to share their wealth with their own people. is that the jews fault as well? further, there are plenty of arabs (aka palestinians) who live peacefully well within the borders of israel. the only thing the jews want is freedom not to be killed by hate mongers. i presume you object to that otherwise you woudnt be spending as much of your time bashing israel and then denying your an anti-semite.

    I don't believe a word you say.
I can smell bullshit from a mile away. Nothing you've said has any merit whatsoever. You must think that people on this message board are idiots. Maybe you're mistaking the Pearl Jam message board for the Pop Idol winners message board?

This one post speaks volumes about you. It says NOTHING about the subject at hand though. You pretned to be a well travelled man of the world, open to the culture of the Arabs, and yet in the next breath you pretend that your limited experience of their culture entitles you to dismiss them out of hand. You are as transparent as a window pal. Who do you think you're kidding with your racist crap?

Do you realise that the nazis said the same thing about the jews and the resistance movements across Europe during world war 2?

You have brought nothing to the table pal.

    Try harder!

Do you realise Dayan, that every Palestinian and Every jew who is killed as a result of this ongoing occupation and continuing land grab, is killed as a result of people like you and your bigotry?
