If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

that's what I got from this...
I wonder, I know people want "change"...I guess the question is "how quickly do we want change?"....

he could have easier done all this without the nazi/holocaust comparisons
well no because that door is open in this country. You don't have habeas corpus anymore so all we need is somebody in office that is capable of doing something like Hitler did. At least Bush wouldn't murder his own people like that. Who knows about future presidents.

At that point, you quickly realize you're at a disadvantage for being complacent to the many small and frequent seemingly insignificant changes.
Some people by default, are ridiculously complacent.

The unaware are unaware they are unaware.
The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10% now own 85% of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90% been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy.
and the paranoid are unaware that they are paranoid

Paranoid is what you call being over aware... In this context it's called scrutiny, or due diligence.
Shame more Nazi's weren't more dilligent on the odd occasion.

There are a lot of problems with the government, and there are serious problems with complacency, but you are delusional if you think what is happening now is anywhere close to what was happening in Germany in the run up to WWII. Absolutely delusional.
Stop with the scare tactics already. it makes you sound stupid.
Once the framework is on place. It's there. No one has a crystal ball on who is going to hop in the drivers seat in the future. To say it isn't happening already to a certain degree, or can't happen is unwise.
Complacency is far worse than any form of scrutiny.

I sorta understand the point that Badnarik was trying to make, but as soon as he started bringing the Holocaust up as a comparison, he sounded as delusional and paranoid as that Applewhite guy with the Heaven's gate cult.

I posted this because of the concept of finally saying enough is enough. And deciding you aren't going to go along with the corrupt deeds of your govt and resisting. Is it that difficult to grasp? You don't have to take everything as a 100% literal comparison...jeez.
I don't know why I bother

Using extreme examples makes a case not a direct comparison. And we use them all them time here to make points. He was saying when is it bad enough for you to start getting fed up. If it were as bad as Nazi Germany, he wouldn't be able to even make the video and have it on youtube. He's saying if you're going to do something, do it before shit gets so bad it's hard to turn back. It was an obvious point. He was saying we aren't Nazi Germany and we can still do something about our gov't's abuse of power.

I know, but going that extreme makes him no better than the sensationalism in our news networks. Hearing him talk about rounding people up in cattle cars turns me off as quickly is the local news anchor saying "Find out if your drive to work can kill you - tune in at 11".

Not at all. He needed to bring up the worst example of a submissive people to drive the point home. It's a factual period in time where people didn't stand up for what was right to the point they were subjected to genocide. He's showing just how bad it can get and people will still go along with it. That is a strong point. And he showed how it was gradual...also a strong point. It needed to be said because we, as a people, are excusing our gov't's corruption and abuses of power MORE than we are resisting and voting them out of power. The question stands, when is it going to be enough for us to stand up against it? Or will we ever? People always say, 'Yeah, that will never happen to us. The american people won't stand for it!' Newsflash!- There's a whole lot of stuff happening right now that people thought we'd never see in America! Where is it going to end???
It's not the same thing a sensationalizing stupid news stories in the least. They purposefully talk about useless stories to distract people's attention from the real stuff that goes unreported. Also they make things out to be much worse than they are to frighten people. Nazi Germany happened and he didn't sensationalize it or say that's what's happening here. He simply pointed out how things can go bad quickly and if you're not up for resisting against it when it's the smaller crimes, what's going to stop them from committing even bigger ones?

I dont know why you bothered to post just bullshit either.
How is it bullshit?

the comparisons to nazi's and the holocaust is down right idiotic. yea, thanks for posting. well done.
Read my posts to blackredyellow just a few posts up^^^...it's not that hard to understand. It's showing an example of submissive people letting gov't abuse it power and then it was too late for them to stop it. NOT ONCE did he say this is the situation in the US or even like it. He's just saying how we need to stand up to things we see as wrong NOW or they will keep on abusing their power because no one is stopping them. Simple, really.

you don't say... I got that exact feeling listening to the lecture in the original post.

He never said that the US was like Nazi German and we all should be scared as hell. Correct? So it's not like sensationalizing our situation to frighten us. Showing an example of how thing can go wrong quickly with a gov't not held accountable by it's citizens by using a factual period in history, is not what the 'news' does.
The point was that people always think it won't happen to them. He pointed out how easily it can happen, abuse by abuse, until it's too late. If anything, it should be empowering to anyone who watched it to know that we still have a chance to keep our gov't in check and hold them accountable but that, indeed, is up to us. We gotta draw the line and say enough is enough somewhere and stop excusing all the shit they keep pulling in the name of keeping us 'safe'.
Care to reply to the rest of my post?
