    i didnt come into this thread with a spreadsheet of data supporting my claims, this is the first thread ive started in a while and i knew that this subject would get a ton of negative feedback because this a predominatly liberal board, and man made global warming is huge in the liberal agenda, i read alot, i stay as informed as all of you do and i try to make a judgement independent of some talking head opinion, you take the facts and then you base your opinion, ive have to deflect criticism from a number of you and im trying my best to reply to all of your responses b/c i believe this is a very serious subject.

    Do you want a bunch of data proving you wrong? I can provide it.
    I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire
  • by your posts i'd bet all your reading is comic books.
    i know, b/c my opinion is not the general consensus, damn me for not agreeing b/c its easier to do so

    i doubt that, teachers unions suck all the money out of that budget and they have no fear of losing there jobs after 10yrs of service, its ludicrous.

    Well that's how much you know. Administrators makes a hell of a lot more than teachers. Custodians can make more than teachers. Keep blaming the teachers union while the real problems mount up.

    Back to the militray budget the UK comes in second, to our +$500 billion a year with a military budget of about $40 billion. The next country down is France with about $30 billion. Then Germany with about $25 billion and Italy with roughly $20 billion and that is it for the double digit spenders. You add them all up together and it is about 1/5 of what we spend. We can cut our militray spending in half and still be the biggest and best equiped military in the world. Putting that $250 billion a year to better use than bombing the wrong country.

    you know, ive seen it, and guess what, we dont know that this trend is man made!! we just have no way of knowing, there are trends, and it looks like we are in one of those trends towards a higher temperature for a number of years, then as has been shown threw the history of the earth, there will be a cooling period, look it up.

    no, actually we still have a number of troops over there right now.

    I'm talking about the invasion. We sent what 10,000-15,000 troops to Afghanistan. Instead of sending more so we could secure the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan we out sourced the job the the local militias. What's the use of having the biggest baddest military if your not even going to use it when it counts.

    how about instead of having a huge budget, we could lower taxes?? i think that would be the best idea, we could even eliminate certain taxes, like the income tax, that would be nice.

    Oh well then lets continue to pollute. Let's bring back leaded gasoline. Let's build more coal burning power plants. I'm gonna change my own oil and pour it down the sewer. Thanks man. Your opinion has solved a lot of inconveniences. WTG! :rolleyes:

    b/c that wouldnt make sense to bring more to afghanistan, that would be a waste of money, what we should do is put some of our military on the mexico border, and secure our OWN border to stop all the illegal aliens destroying our country.

    I'm all for doing away with the income tax and our entire current tax code. As for lowering taxes, just think of how much we could lower them if we did away with the IRS, US Dept of Education, privitize NASA, and cut our military spending by about $100-$150 billion a year.

    have you looked into the "fair tax" great read, check it out if you havent already, the book is written by neal boortz the fair tax is a straight consumption tax that does away with the irs, its a great idea, but doubtful to pass for a new tax code.

    I know all those damn brown people ruining our country. I guess all those soldiers on the Mexican border are going to stop the millions of illegal immigrants who come into this country that aren't from Central/South America. You did know that there are millions of Asians, Africans, Canadians, and Europeans who enter this country illegally as well.

    yes I have and I have written my Congressman and Senators many times asking why they will not support this piece of legislation.

    I know, and precisely the reason I was a skeptic for so long. But the evidence shows that we are contributing a lot to it. We are only 10,000 years from the last ice-age and we are at the historically 60,000 year mark.

    Scientists have consistently shown without doubt that we are contributing to global warming. I was skeptic for a long time, so I know where you are coming from, but I was wrong.

    ok bud, when this country turns into mush, dont complain, just remember that you felt good when all these people entered this country illegally and wasted our tax dollars keep feeling good about that, dont you like that we educate them for free, and give them in-state tuition for college, great isnt it, doesnt matter what color they are, they are lawbreakers.

    Again with the assumptions. I never said that i think we should give illegal immigrants a free ride. I simply stated that placing troops on the mexican border is not going to stop illegal immigration because about 40% of the illegal immigrants in this country are not from Central/South America. That's the simplistic moronic approach of our government, like building a 700 mile wall along a 2,000 mile border.

    hey, it's a brilliant idea.... we build the 700 miles of fence so the only open areas are mountains and desert. the "illegals" then die by the thousands in said mountains and desert, and their piled up bones will make the other 1300 miles of fence!

    Not a bad idea.

    As long as that doesn't cause global warming. ;):D

    that's it....i'm forming an exploratory committee

    We can also use the bodies to build levees along our low coast lands to hold back the rising water from Global Warming. we can also build a throne of skulls for our president

    i'm pretty sure that's what cheney's bunker is made of

    If not the bunker at least the alter where he sacrifices the virgins that Ted Haggard sends him in return for bags of Crystal Meth and all the young Mexican men our border patrol can round up.

    ah...that explains a lot. ol' meth head ted probably sent some "slightly used" male virgins, which have pissed off the gods

    Probably told those poor young men that he was checking their soul with his Jesus stick.

    why do we all believe it?? i personally think its a joke, thoughts and comments.....

    Then this dirty little joke shouldn't have any affect on you either way.

    Across the United States, more than 150 new coal-fired power plants are in the process of being applied for, planned and constructed. Where are they?

    The US Department of Energy has issued a “Tracking New Coal-Fired Power Plants” report that provides a comprehensive map and list of 159 new coal plants that are under consideration.

    According to the DOE report, the number of proposed new coal plants in different regions of the US are:

    26 in the Northwest (AK, ID, MT, WA, WY);
    19 in the Southwest (AZ, CO, NM. NV, UT);
    24 in the Great Plains (KS, ND, OK, TX, SD);
    42 in the Midwest (IA, IL, IN, MI, MO, OH, MN, WI);
    30 in the Southeast (AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, VA, WV); and
    11 in the Northeast (DE, MD, NY, PA).
    SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

    On the topic of new energy. The other day on the tube the news had the bad people of Iran (where the footage comes from if it is a secret) working in a reactor. Then the next commercial after the story is how good nuclear energy is for Ontario and how we should be jumping on the bandwagon. Interesting and sad all in one go.

    nuclear energy is a interesting option, which also has enviormental issues that would need to be solved before considering to build new nuclear plants.

    Alright man, we are cutting you off. You don't appreciate Canada and you don't appreciate our nuclear power. Build a coal plant or something, get off our grid. :p
