i stand behind your right to choose what you want,i hope you stand for mine.that's what it's supposed to be about.your going to believe what you want,i the same.to agree to disagree is how the civilized coexist.
Think you are doing fine. I have managed to pay attention to the important bits and mostly ignore the "my dicks bigger than your dick" conversation! So you are a supporter of the vaccine then? I think it's pretty amazing myself. Obviously I have some concerns, but any new medication or vaccine can have it's problems. BUT if they get this up and running here it'll be fantastic. Just hope they are sensible about the implimentation of the vaccination program.
I never said anything about my dick.
I think the government has no business 'requiring' anyone to inject anything into their bodies. If they've found a vaccine, then great. But if one chooses to use it, then it should be their own decision. The decision to use my tax dollars to pay for such a program has already been taken out of my hands. Don't take my choice.

CERVICAL-CANCER VACCINATION - Voting 80-17, the House approved a bill requiring girls entering sixth grade to be vaccinated against human papillomavirus, beginning in the 2009 school year. It would reduce the probability of a female contracting cervical cancer.
The legislation allows exemptions based on religious beliefs or practices or if a physician or nurse practitioner determines it would be detrimental to the health of a girl. A girl would be exempt if a parent objects.

see this is the lie, they CAN'T FORCE YOU TO TAKE A VACCINE,SO YOU DON'T NEED AN "EXEMPTION".you say i am a consciences objector and i will SUE!!

Haha...yeah my question wasn't really a question...I'm onthe side that if it isn't going to hurt someone else, I'm not sure I want the government mandating anything like this.

WHY ARE YOU YELLING? They can require you to have certain vaccines to start school. Every school does it b/c they want to limit outbreaks of preventable diseases at their schools.

So what drug are you willing to draw the line at? Using this reasoning, they could mandate students be required to take pretty much any prescription out there.
Maybe they should force everyone to take asparin, its supposed to help prevent heart disease.

since i'm not advocating for drug use, rather vaccine use it's not really the same. Vaccine use is purely preventative and causes the body to produce it's own protection to different illnesses. Drugs are used to prevent diseases yes, but if the drug is not constantly consumed (based on half life etc..) the desired effects are gone. Clearly, if a medical professional feels it's not in teh best interest of a person to have a vaccine that should supercede a policy.
We're also talking about a school system NOT society as a whole. If I work in the healthcare field they have to offer the hep B vaccine to me; i don't have to take it but i have to sign something that says I am not willing to take it. Most schools only require MMR, DTP, and polio. As they get older there are more options (meningitis in college kids...not required but waiver must be signed). I think that the HPV vaccine should be treated the same way, as long as it's shown safe. Girls in HS should be required to take it (unless there are certain reasons as to why not...medical, religious etc...) and given the option in college.

so the requirement is unconstitutional? I know that if they give you the shot w/o approval it can be considered battery (which is what YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT). So all you have to do as a parent is say you don't want your child to get the immunization and UNDER THIS BILL THEY DROP THE REQUIREMENT. If you don't want it to happen, IT WONT. THIS IS FUN

like our right to NOT get the vaccine if we have "The legislation allows exemptions based on religious beliefs or practices or if a physician or nurse practitioner determines it would be detrimental to the health of a girl. A girl would be exempt if a parent objects."
Those damn politicians taking away all the rights of parents by saying they can object to this vaccination...damn the man. DAMN THE MAN!!!!

So you would not allow a HS girl to refuse the vaccine because they dont want to take it. Then what, are you OK with strapping them down and forcibly injecting this vaccine?

I said that? I didn't realize that I should put every qualifier down. There are reasons excemptions are in place for vaccines. I think the VA bill is a good thing esp with the provisions it provides. B/c it allows for pretty much anone to NOT get it if they don't want it.

WHY ARE YOU YELLING? They can require you to have certain vaccines to start school. Every school does it b/c they want to limit outbreaks of preventable diseases at their schools.
yeah, they can and they all do. There isn't a single state that doesn't require immunizations or some sort of special approval to not have them. From my districts website:
Failure to comply with the above requirements by the second Monday in September of the current school year will result in the student's exclusion from school until the required health forms are presented to the District.
A student may be exempted from this policy's requirements on religious or medical grounds if the student's parent(s)/guardian(s) present to the Superintendent a signed statement explaining the objection. A student may be exempted from the health examination or immunizations on medical grounds if a physician provides written verification.
According to my neighbor who is on the school board, no one in the history of the district has been successful in fighting the policy. The board follows the state's guidelines and if you don't like it, you can move or home school. -and it's almost impossible to find a physician that will sign something exempting a child from immunizations.
-and I have no problem with most necessary immunizations...it's something like this one or chickenpox that I disagree with. There is a vaccine for pneumonia...why isn't that mandatory? I don't have a stastic to back it up but I'm pretty sure death from pneumonia is more common than death from hpv in young (9-15 yo) women.

I am just pointing out that there are specific reasons given for exemption from getting the vaccine and "not wanting it" is not one of them. So I asked if you would be OK with forcibly injecting people with this vaccine if theor resaon was that they didnt want it. If you agree that force should not be used, then the only other option is to make it voluntary.
In my opinion it should be voluntary and offered through the school system or your own doctor. And certainly any risk associated with both using or rejecting the vaccine should be clearly stated so that a person/parent can make an informed decision.
