There may be a huge difference, and there may not. I'm trying to point out the subjectivity of "ruining a life" along with the utter hypocrisy of the death penalty.

If we start killing everyone based upon someone's perception that they "ruined a life" then we'll have a lot less people on this earth.

And you're right, I COULD change my mind based upon new circumstances (I say that about my opinion on any subject), but I would HOPE that I would never resort to killing another person...whether I felt they deserved it or not.

I'm just pointing out that the Justice system ain't perfect. Neither is Law Enforcement. I'm not saying the crime is acceptable... it is deplorable. I just have a differing opinion on the punishment.
I used to be in favor of the Death Penalty.. and probably would be saying the same things as you are today. I've changed. I don't have the faith in the system i used to.
and I believe prison life is a horrible existance... and apt punishment for criminals. It is NOT the 3 squares a day, cable television luxury resort that you may believe it is. It is the loss of freedom... loss of identiy. It sucks and is definately no walk in the park.

You can escape prison.

You can get out of prison on good behaviour.

You can get out on an appeal, or a technicality.


Death penalty, is also removing them from society. Permanently.

You can't undo being dead.

I am NOT defending Child Molestors or Criminals. The guilty deserve to be punished. Prison is not the happy playtime that people make it out to be... if you think it is... take a little visit to Rikers or Joliet or San Quintin and see how they live the life of leisure. Prison sucks... it is more than adequate punishment.

I am NOT defending Child Molestors or Criminals. The guilty deserve to be punished. Id require absolute proof before personally approving or partaking in a death penalty. IE, DNA or a confession.
