and if we elect another tax and spender (democrat) there will be more poor people, ergo, more democrats...thus ensuring their victory forever...that's brilliant. Tax them till they're poor, then have them vote democrat to get government handouts!!!
It's much better to be just a spender like Republicans. Raise the deficit until it gets to a breaking point and then have the Democrats get it lowered through increased taxes on the rich.
Anyone who thinks Democrats raise the taxes on the poor and middle class are wrong.

i didn't say that. I just said the dems tax and spend...I'm not happy with either parties economic policy. Give the people their money and make the govt operate within confines.

seriously, i keep hearing the same shit i did on '04 about how we have to vote for whoever the democrat is b/c we just can't afford to have whoever the conservative is win (tho in '04 they all said we would be free to vote for whomever we wanted in '08). so, why do you think you won't be so scared in 2012 of the conservative nominee??
I don't think the word Conservative quite captures the essence of George Bush. Though he has done some to change the look of the word.

Eh, the republicans do suck too in this regard. But I don't know which is better or worse.
Anyone who thinks Democrats raise the taxes on the poor and middle class are wrong.
I suppose it depends on how you define "middle class." I know my parents -- who are both teachers, not doctors or lawyers or CEOs -- had to pay a lot more in taxes (percentage wise) under Dollar Bill than they have under GW. You'd be surprised. If you make more than 40K a year, the Democrats consider you "rich" and want to give your money to someone else.
Not a big fan of that.
Here's another thing about "taxing the rich" -- they ALREADY pay more in taxes, both in raw dollars and percentage, than anybody on Earth. How much more would you like to tax them? At what point does it take away the incentive to work hard, innovate, invent something -- the traditional manners in which people have gotten rich? At what point do we stop penalizing people for being successful, and rewarding people for being unsuccessful?

McCain isn't a conservative.
True conservatives have to vote either write in or outside the party.
It could be anything, but something is totally going to happen in the next few months.
I said the same thing in the summer of 2001. The Republicans were on the war path. They'd just engaged in a two week intensive bombing campaign of Baghdad, they knocked a Chinese plane out of the sky, they were making threats to Russia, they'd just pulled out of the Kyoto treaty. I remember distinctly saying to a friend of mine that something was going to happen - although I had in mind that Bush et al would be attacked/assasinated. Either way I figured that something was going to turn the tide. I was naieve enough not to realise that what would happen would be a catalyst for more of the same Nazi shit from these fuckers.

summer of 2001? wow, that's just crazy.
unfortunately, you're right. all they did was use this to their advantage and expolit, exploit, exploit. I suggest, if you haven't already, that you check out Naomi Klein's book "The Shock Doctrine." Incredible book.

well said and being that me and my wife are teachers, we raise a toast to you.
we do not consider ourselves wealthy by any means, and this fact alone is one that i struggle with, when it comes to casting our vote.
live and let live...unless it violates the pearligious doctrine.
i'm giving other things a chance this time around.
Either way, these guys will all have a chance the minute we decide yo give it to them....whoever that may be. They all have an equal chance...until we decide and then vote. It's not harder or more costly to vote Nader...it's a choice.
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

They don't all have an equal chance though. The public will vote for the person who's face they see more often than not on t.v, in the newspapers, magazines, and on billboards e.t.c. 3wThe media is owned by the corporations. The corporations are gonna do all they can to get their man elected. The Ralph Naders and Kucinich's of this world are defeated before they begin. That's the reality of it.

But I know better and I'm gonna fucking act like I know it. In fact most of us know better than to trust the media.....we're just to lazy to do any fucking thing about it. Well that ain't me. Especially when those of us who do know better are told to play along and ignore it , anyways. How can we tell who's playing along and who's believing this bullshit? How can things ever change if no one's worried about setting an example? When does it end? When will it be acceptable to vote for what's right?
Fuck the fear

wow, you are brave for saying that. I am not sure either why I always hear the liberals over and over and over bashing the President, waving their gay flag, dissing God, whatever.
It's like, "ok, cool you feel that way. Now could you please just shut the fuck up and let's talk about fun things since we don't agree on this?" But nooooo! They just keep on ranting and I don't want to argue. They must be a little too obsessed with it . I agree.
And also, why is it that most of the entertainment industry is so set on being Democrats as well? Even John Mellancamp, "Mr country ass American car mechanic turned middle aged rock star with a huge following" was not saying such nice things about the President as well. I lose respect for them not because I disagree but because they show no respect themselves when they talk like that, you know?

My son told me that there is this book he is going to order that tells you about this paperwork that you can fill out in the US that exempts you from having to pay taxes. The reason for this is because it is not in the Constitution that we have to pay them. Most people don't know about these because of course the government doesn't want anyone to know about this but I am willing to check it out.
Anyone else ever heard of it?

Fair enough, but punching a card once every four years won't change anything. I think clued-up people like yourself can better effect change through other means.

I worry about what they are teaching your son in civics class. Must have stopped before the 16th Amendment:
"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

I think the better question is what year will the conservatives stop being afraid of the liberals. The whole conservative platform is "Fear the Liberals," so far as I can see.
Although I don't like Obama, why the fuck would you be happy about McCain?
I guess I would be somewhat happy, along the lines of "at least it's not Obama." McCain, though imperfect, would be closer to my own set of beliefs than Obama.
But, yeah, I don't know how anybody could be turning cartwheels over McCain.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get

I don't understand how we can say Obama isn't a warmonger. just because he doesn't go around DECLARING war, does not mean that he doesn't SUPPORT other wars.... the US, as the only superpower in the world, should not be supporting Israel in its occupation of Palestine.
Not only that, but the fact that he called for tougher sanctions against Iran is pure insanity. Sanctions are an act of war.
his speech at AIPAC really did it for me. I don't know how I could possibly vote for someone like Obama, then go back to my family and friends living in Gaza like it's no big deal that I just supported someone who will make their next 4-8 years more hell.
