i apologize in advance. i NEVER thought i would have to turn to the mods, but i am going to ask them to close this thread. a minority of folks have been classless and disgusting. i guess i expect more out of my fellow pearl jam fans, but they are giving us a bad name, and giving the MT a bad name.

about one of the funniest posts I've read on here in a long time......

Didn't see much of the same kind of posting at that time. I did call some out in the real world though.

and thats cool.....but there were plenty of folks that did, the difference was there wasn't this same backlash of folks saying lets respect him cause he just died.

Maybe we (members on this board) have different veiws about respecting the dead.....and this thread simply brought this difference out. Sure this difference corrolates (sp?) with ones belief in faith.....no not for eveyone...but.

    Never ending airhead comments. :/

Dude take some time away from the surf and educate yourself. Gore and Kerry did not commit their lives to preaching hate and intolerence. Do WE celebrate when they die? Ah... er... I won't celebrate when they die - you can do whatever you want to do.

    Then you really werent looking.

actually i just reviewed it all myself and it was a very interesting debate with A LOT of positive humanity on show, lots from people like gue, Abook, Jeanie, Hippiemom etc, the usual suspects really.

The two things that were conspicuous by their absence were high horse statements from phoney big hearts firing people up, and .........zstillings comments?!

I agree with the Abook comment on the first page there. I take many sabbaticals from this place. That must have been one of them.
  • floyd1975floyd1975 Posts: 1,350

That thread has shown me one big hypocrite from this thread. It's not you though Abook. Or anyone the next poster on this thread named.

Perhaps bc no loud mouth leftist has died today....

You can't seriously think this same shit wouldn't be happening if the tables were turned, can you?

you bring up what MIGHT happen or what COULD happen IF something else would have occurred besides Falwell's passing...that is NOT at issue here...the issue, here, is Falwell's passing...

I hope the Falwell's family and friends can find strength and stability in his legacy...though I do not agree with him...do rest in peace....

Yes, the issue is Falwell's passing. Not which side here on this board has the most integrity. I'm not the one who brought that up.

i know you didn't bring it up...but you continued it...you think about what "what if" side of things...that's the problem.

in the world, it's not about "what if"...as in, "what if gore was declared the winner"..."what if the WTC situation was a conspiracy." it's about the here and the now and what is happening NOW. it's about what is REALLY happening and not about what might have happened.

on a lighter note...an evening rain just passed through miami beach...and i had some linguine with vodka sauce...and, i miss my girl...that's what's happening right night...in my world...that matters...we all die...live your life to the fullest...

He preached hatred and i'm not tolerant of intolerance. Also, you using this country is quite an insult, since you have no idea where i'm from. shows how full of yourself you are.

I wouldn't really say that she continued it. That was her contention with my point. I apologized for choosing the wrong words.

26 pages? come on folks, this guy ain't worth it. to get back to the point i made several pages ago, the media thrives on conflict, and Jerry Falwell was happy to make provocative statements and therby mainstain his status as a well-paid media whore, same as other phony Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
  • This thread is pretty satirical. People die all the time. Big deal...

Here you get one guy that dishes out a mountain of hatred across the board and stains the very notion of religion itself, and people are surprised and ashamed to see some negative reactions.

You earn respect...you don't automatically deserve it...during life or in death.

    stop being such eggshells..
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

there aren't many things that me and kenny olav are going to agree on...but damnit...couldn't have said it better myself.

There are news reports that Falwell's bloated corpse has risen as a zombie and is destroying the countryside as we speak. Godspeed and good luck to all of us.
