  • The Cubs could choke for the next 100 years and they'd still be able to fill the ballpark on a nice, sunny May day, while US Cellular is lucky to get 60% of the stadium fool. Sox fans are haters. I feel sorry for you that your team is below the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks.

I don't meet too many Cubs fans who dwell on the Sox like Sox fans dwell on the Cubs.

    Amen to That!!!!!!!!!Go Cubbies

Wrigley is a glory-holed beer garden. at least sox fans can tell you who's on the team WITHOUT having to look at the name on the back!
  • I cried like a baby when he played it at the Vic. I've been a Cub fan since I saw my first game in 1981, and to hear my favorite musician write such a moving song about my favorite team was like the planets aligning, which must have actually happened, because record or not, the Cubs are the best team in baseball. Folks who are want to cite the Angels should think about the fact that they are playing in the worst and smallest division in baseball, while the Cubs have been dominating in the NL Central, which is arguably the best (cf Brewers, Astros and Cards) and the biggest. The (Devil) Rays will play the Cubs in the World Series, and much to the dismay of all 12 of Tampa's loyal and devoted fans, the Cubs will finally win their 3rd World Series, and the troops will come home and the economy will recover and Obama will get two terms, the nation will finally see universal health care and a living wage for all, and dogs and cats will be living together...hey, a man can dream, can't he?

As for the south siders, the T-shirt really does say it all: The three greatest tragedys to befall Chicago: the fire, the flood and the sox. There's no DH in real baseball. Ok, I've made enough enemies. Enjoy the rest of your day.

    Magic number = 2!
  • Well, I just got back in NW Indiana to visit the parents, and I turn the radio on and they are talking Eddie Vedder on 93.1 XRT. They spent about 5 minutes talking about how good it was, how many calls they got, etc.... Then they played it and I gotta say the quality was awesome, and you could actually understand all of the lyrics. Great song.

Sucks to be a hater like the fools in this thread.

Cubs fans = root for their team

Cards/Sox fans = root against the Cubs out of jealousy (sad)

We need official bootlegs because the quality is so much better than these "boots" that have been circulating.
When I feel down, I go to 333 W. 35th street. And look at the WS trophy. And I smile knowing the Cubs will NEVER win one.

it'll prolly be ed singing the 7th inning stretch

The Cubs have already won 2: in 1907 and 1908. The Sox have won the same amount prior to 2005: they won in 1906 and 1917, and will be tied with the Cubs again after we win in 2008. This goes to show you the nature of what a White Sox fan is: someone with no sense of history, and only a passing understanding of the game. Cubs fans aren't fair weather, but foul weather fans.
  • What does this mean?

It's the combined number of Cub wins and/or Brewers' losses that would allow the Cubs to clinch the NL Central. So, a Cub win and a Brewers' loss would clinch it, or if the Brewers lost today and tomorrow, no matter what the Cubs did, they would win.

To determine the formula: take the number of games yet to be played, add one, then subtract the number of games ahead in the loss column of the standings from the closest opponent.

even as a lifelong, die hard cubs fan who hates the white sox and everything about them, this generalization is as unfair as all the white sox fans who say that people at wrigley dont care about the game and are just there to sit in the sun and drink beer.

Obviously you are an idiot if you think attendance defines a team or an organization. Wrigley is the biggest dump I've ever been to...it's a tourist attraction. While there are lots of real, die-hard Cubs fans out there, there's a ton of people who only go to Wrigley because it's the "cool thing to do". There's no way around that, just look at all the drunken morons in the bleachers. It's a joke.

another easy way would be to take the first place team's wins. Then, take the 2nd place team's losses. Add those two up. Subtract it from 163 (one more than the 162 game schedule). Right now, the Cubs have 92 wins. The Brewers have 69 losses. Add those up, you get 161. 163-161 is 2. Pretty simple math also.

I'm a hardcore Cubs fan in complete agreement. Thanks for recognizing that while majority of people that are at the park are there for the party, some of us real fans exist. That means a lot.

Anyway, this is off topic, as all Cubs/Sox talk eventually gets. So screw making those discs and 45's collectibles, please mass produce! And give all proceeds to charity. Anyone that wants one should be able to have one.

For what it is worth, I whole heartedly agree. I mean, I will eat top ramen for a month if that's what it takes to get the 45 (like I did with Binaural and the Into the Wild 12"s), but splitting the proceeds on a $5-$7 7" between, say Cubs Care and Surfriders, for example would be awesome, and also allow this PJ/Cubs fan to eat much healthier.

Also, something I found oddly coincidental is that the official Cubs charity (Cubs Care) is owed by the McCormick foundation. No relation to Jill I'm sure, but I get a kick out of any Cubs/E.V. serendipity that I find.
