Indifference71 wrote:Obviously you are an idiot if you think attendance defines a team or an organization. Wrigley is the biggest dump I've ever been to...it's a tourist attraction. While there are lots of real, die-hard Cubs fans out there, there's a ton of people who only go to Wrigley because it's the "cool thing to do". There's no way around that, just look at all the drunken morons in the bleachers. It's a joke.
I love this perception by White Sox fans. If that's the case how come on less than 24 hours notice 23,000 people (most of them from over an hours drive away) bought tickets for that Cubs Astros game in Milwaukee. Truly an amazing thing considering the limited time to do it, the fact that it was also on a Sunday night, with most people having to work the next day after the long drive home. Then they drew 15,000 for he Monday day game on less than 36 hours notice. I don't think many other teams have fan bases that loyal. Maybe the Red Sox but that's it. Cubs fans are as loyal as any out there. Are there drunk idiots at Wrigley, yeah, of course there is, but this team has the loyalst fans in baseball.Alpine Valley 6/26/98, Alpine Valley 10/8/00, Champaign 4/23/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Grand Rapids 10/3/04

This goes to show you the nature of what a White Sox fan is: someone with no sense of history, and only a passing understanding of the game. Cubs fans aren't fair weather, but foul weather fans.0

Cubs fans = root for their team
Cards/Sox fans = root against the Cubs out of jealousy (sad)
We need official bootlegs because the quality is so much better than these "boots" that have been circulating.
Why would the Cardinals and White Sox be jealous of the Cubs? The Cardinals have won 10 world series the White Sox just won in 2005. I can understand the White Sox being jealous of the media attention the Cubs get and the fact that they have a larger fan base, but the Cardinals? Come on. The Cardinals outdraw the Cubs every year and have more World titles, I doubt they are jealous.
And this is coming from an outside observer I could care less about the Cubs, Sox, or Cardinals.0 -

Yeah the Cubs have a large fan base throughout the midwest and in Wisconsin, I doubt 23,000 people drove from Chicago proper to Milwaukee for the game. I'm sure some did but most were probably Cub fans living around the Milwaukee area.0 -
Eddie talked about this release at night 2. He said the better version would be made available. We even practiced the high part at the end. I wasn't at Thursday's show but I think Friday's crowd was tighter on the chorus and the high part at the end went a little bit longer. Of course I was sitting in the Springsteen's so the recording might not have sounded like what I heard. Or it could be all that weed going up there got me all fucked up and my recollection is a bit fuzzy. I want to file an official protest to who sounded better. Can I get a second for this motion?Things were different then0

Still regardless, I don't think many teams have a fan base that can pull that off. Pretty amazing, you must admitt.Alpine Valley 6/26/98, Alpine Valley 10/8/00, Champaign 4/23/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Grand Rapids 10/3/04

Thank you for proving my point. The Sox fans dwell on the Cubs. When the Cubs win their WS the Sox will be the furthest thing from their mind. Another sad Sox fan on the board.0 -
Can anyone tell me if the one available to buy from the tenclub is a studio version or if it's a live version? If it's a live version, which show is it from (Vic Theatre 2007 or one of these past Chicago shows 2008)?
Thanks!0 -

even as a Red Sox fan, i love this songThings were different then. All is different now.
I tried to explain. Oh, somehow.0 -
I was at Murphy's Bleachers yesterday when the Cubbies clinched it. Right after they clinched it, they were popping champagne and tossing out free t shirts. They also played the song right away and before they even played Go Cubs Go. There were quite a few people singing the chorus....not bad since the song has been released for less than a week.0
