The one and only thing I want in a Sirius XM merger is to NOT CHANGE THE HOWARD STERN CHANNEL. His show is perfection now and I hope it remains that good after the merger.

Also, they better keep the Riley Martin show :)

It will be interesting to see how Howard reacts. Of course the douche is on vacation this week.

    No Excuses ending right now.

I'd really LOVE to hear something like SOLAT. :) Or Lukin, but that's kind of a short song for radio to play.

Or even something pre-PJ. If they could get the rights to something like Bad Radio, that would really kick ass.

Speaking of Lukin, I think I heard Mudhoney on here. Shit, maybe I didn't. :o

But i'm now listening to Why Go on Left of Center (which STILL sounds like a politically named channel, IMO.)

they played SOLAT on Lithium over teh weekend. They play Mudhoney on Left of Center a lot....but i doubt you heard Why Go on left of Center, probably on Octane. Left of Center doesnt play Pearl Jam.

I have a Sirius subscription, but my wife has XM. I love my Sirius, mainly because it is completely UNEDITED and UNCENSORED! XM music channels (at least the ones that I have heard) CENSOR the music that they play. If I wanted to hear censored music, I would listen to terrestrial radio. My wife said it's because Clear Channel is involved with XM, and they LOVE to control what the American public listens to. As a music and Howard Stern fan, this really has me wondering what will happen to FCC free satellite radio. Does anyone have any knowledge of the extent that Clear Channel is involved with satellite radio?

I think some of the Sirius channels censor music, more of the hit channels. This doesn't really apply to censoring but I heard Third eye blind's "semi charmed life" the othe day on sirius (I forgot what channel) and it was the edited version.

Channels like Octane don't censor the songs.

Maybe that's what I am hearing - the wife tends to listen the the hits channels on XM, and I tend to avoid them for the most part...

Same here. My wife and I both have sirius in our cars and everytime I get in hers it is on Sirius hits.

Had to chuckle when I heard Lithium 24 describe itself as "the elderly woman behind the counter in a small town's favorite station"
  • sirius only censors channels that they believe younger audiences listen to more like the pop stations and all! ive never heard an edited song on the rock stations or anything like that...im not one at all for censoring music but todays "pop" songs are awful and i wouldnt want me kids listening to a song called "I want to F--k You" which was the #1 song in the country

Yeah, the stations I listen to are uncensored.

Also, I guarantee the one (or two) channels that will NOT be changed whatsoever are Howard Stern. Those are the flagship cash cow!

Also, I think Howard knew way before we did that this would happen, but he would never admit it because that would be insider knowledge. However, note that he is on vacation for a week conveniently the day they announced this.

Funny how that worked out....I over master tape theater. Good to have the new station to entertain me until he is back from vacation.
    I just keep moving on....

True. Sirius does edit the kid channels (obviously) and the pop ones, mainly Hits 1 and Pulse 9. If they do play an edited song on one of the other channels, it's usually a mistake or that's the only version they have. They did that one time on Octane. I emailed them, and they said they were working on getting the regular version, which they did eventually get.

And yes, Clear Channel does control a small share of XM (something like 4-5 channels), but supposedly those channels will be killed when Clear Channel's contract is up with XM. In the meantime, XM has started their own channels that play the exact same songs as the Clear Channel ones.

BTW, that song you mentioned - I believe the edited version is "I want to love you." ;)

Now playing Man In The Box.

They played "Shelf In The Room" earlier today. I had COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN that song existed.

  • I seem to recognize the song that is playing now.

It'd be really cool if they could play live songs.

  • this station isn't THAT great. i heard blink 182 three times, sublime three times, offspring twice, and third eye blind twice just today.

don't you guys have most of these albums, anyway? gimme left of center any day of the week where you can hear new music or stuff you would never hear on terrestrial radio.

That's not the point. I love hearing my favorite artists on the radio and this channel does that. Of course we all know and have these songs but it's fun to hear them "out of the blue" so to speak.
  • it's a decent channel, but i don't dig it because of the amount of pearl jam played. doesn't matter to me of they play pearl jam, i have all their studio albums. the channel is decent because of the songs they play that i completely forgot about. i put it on last night on the way home from work and said after every song started "holy shit, i forgot about this song!"

my favorite channel is (still) JAM_ON.
