Are Allman Brothers confirmed? There will have to be a third headliner because Jack Johnson simply does not have the capacity to headline.

Surprised to see no one on here pumped up about Sigur Ros.

As for a full PJ set, does anyone know how long Radiohead's set was last year? From what I heard, it wasn't one of those short hour and a half festival sets, but longer. At least Pearl Jam is south of the Mason-Dixon.

Yes, yes. I saw BB King in my home turf. Catch him while you can, he won't be around for long.

dude, people don't realize that pearl jam can play as long as they want. I've heard that some acts go on for as long as 4 hours!
Not exactly...since there are so many bands they keep to a pretty tight schedule...Headliners have a 3.5 hour slot.

Pearl Jam will get a full 3 hour time slot.

    that's exactly my situation.

seems some forget the whole festival concept though...

either you have to buy a full pass or (like lollapalooza) you can get a 1 day.

even a 1 day would be, if available, would be more than your standard PJ show.

anyway, i want to go but no way i'm going to suffer through metallica or any of the other bands...i'll just save my money and hope for the best.

Im not crushed though, Im kinda disappointed because I was excited about going and now kinda changed my mind, but deciding not to go is better than wanting to go and not being able I guess... no?

I hope everyone that goes has a great time!

    Does Bonnaroo have a webcast?

You get insults when you don't make any sense!!! You are insulting the band for being hypocrites because they stand for low ticket prices. They don't get your money from travels to and from the show! Use your fucking head. There are a lot of good upcoming bands playing this festival, but you have spent too much time in your mothers basement jerking to gay porn to realize. Have fun in the basement while I'm in Tennessee.

Wow gay cracks that must have taken a while to come up with. Did you get that from your "Idiots Guide To Message Board Posting"? If I tell you I'm black will hit me there too? Why not make fun of the handicapped too while your at it?

For those if you who enjoy these other bands in addition to Pearl Jam and are looking forward to the festival, I am really happy for you. I am sure Pearl Jam will put on their usual incredible show. I hope everyone that goes has a truly wonderful time.

And I am sorry for whining but the band has of late disappointed me with some of the things they've done. From not playing the South (even though I am a Northerner). To some of the pricing. I know they are trying to find a new audience which is why they did last year's show, and now Bonnaroo. I just don't wantus old dogs that have been there since 91' 92' to be left out.

As for Radiohead at Roo, you are woefully misinformed. Their performance there in 2006 was one of their LONGEST shows ever. It was a great show.

he said "it wasn't one of those short hour and a half festival sets, but longer."

    and it was...

2 1/2 hrs which was the longest show at that point on their tour.

i asked some friends if they wanted to go assuming there would be single tickets...now i have to break the news to them.

but yea, deciding not to go is better. save you money.

  • radiohead played the longest set of their career at bonnaroo. i think it was around 2.5 hours. the headliners are usually allotted 2.5 to 4 hours. pearl jam im sure will get as much time as they want.

Sorry, misread that. There's still a lot of people that think they won't get enough time to play a full show.
  • Anyone who's doubting the length of time they'll have on stage needs to get out of their negative head space and forget it already. Bonnaroo is sweet for a lot of reasons, one of them being that bands (at least the 9:00 p.m. headliners of each evening, as well as the bands who begin playing at around 1:00 a.m. and afterwards) can essentially play as long as they want. Bands that play during the afternoon are a little more limited time-wise, but rest assured, unlike in an arena where they typically play (REMEMBER?????), Bonnaroo has no curfews. Really, they're are no limits to the madness there, trust me on that. Music is performed there from about noon until around 4:00 a.m.

In my opinion, Metallica will bring a few wankers who otherwise wouldn't have been at the festival, so they're might be more moshers up close than usual. [EDIT: What I meant to say is, more craptastic behavior. I suppose moshing isn't the end of the world, but it thankfully it is pretty atypical of that festival. Or at least it was previous years apparently.] Otherwise, I also can't stress enough how bloody enormous that field is in front of the main stage. You really can get quite close to the stage for any show, without having to show up hours ahead of time.

Yeah, Sigur Rós is getting very little attention. What happened to Bonnaroo this year? I realise a lot of other sweet rock acts are tied up at the time. However, METALLICA? No Neil, no Petty, no Dylan, no R.E.M. Jack Johnson? *Yawn* Sigur Rós should get to play the main stage. Even most big fans of Metallica haven't seen them release any decent music for over fifteen years. Am I wrong? Ah whatever.

I'm just hoping that more kickass bands over the coming weeks join the lineup.

i just got home, I can't believe fucking metallica is fucking playing at ROO. I thought for sure that shit wasn't true. I'm thrilled PJ is gonna be there, but Metallica does not seem right and I do not understand why they would schedule them. fuck it, hopefully they play on friday and then i won't have to think about them again for the rest of the weekend.

You got the gay crack because of your support for Huckabee. Sorry my humor can get a little

harsh. I'm not one to back PJ every time someone complains about them. They are not perfect.

But I really think it is inappropriate to come down on them for playing a festival that does so

much for community and charity. And to play a festival where they can actually play a three

hour set(rarely happens). Yes i agree, there could have been so many better choices for

this festival than Mettalica!! But there are some great surprises in that lineup like Ghostland

Observatory. I have been a fan of PJ since 92, I'm in my 30's and will not be left out. This will

be my 17th show(coming all the way from Winnipeg) and anticipate one of the best ever.
  • Fuckin' eh man. In fact, they should play Thursday night, when everyone hasn't even arrived yet... at like 4:00, at "The Other Tent". Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks, going back EVERY SINGLE FUCKING LINEUP since the festival's inception, would make for a more sensible addition to the lineup.

Probably some dumbass thought, "hmm gee, well, Tool was a big hit last year, and they're metal, just like Meticalla is, and, AND, popular too right? Yeah, better sign 'em up!"

I agree. Like I said, adding Metallica to the mix could potentially spoil (in my mind) what I believe to be otherwise an amazing crowd, if it's anything like last year. That aside, I think that the energy (even if it's more subdued because a good amount of administered psychotropics) will help to make for a great show. Radiohead played what they felt was one of the best, if the THE best, of their entire (20 year) career, as humble as they are. Everyone I met there last year, who went in '06 - lucky bastards - who aren't even big Radiohead fans to begin with, couldn't say enough good about it. Tool played what was one of my favourite all-time shows (next to Radiohead in Vancouver in '03). Actually, Tool's show was certainly the TIGHTEST of ANY of the ~150 live shows I've seen. It sounds better than any arena ever could.

I personally wouldn't bother with the VIP shit. I'd rather be packed like sardines in a crushed tin box like the VAST MAJORITY OF EVERYONE ELSE. The "VIP seating" at the main venue is sorta at the back/off to the side anyhow. (Correct me if I'm wrong on this.) I just think that if you want A/C, stay home. Unless you're in well into your sixties or something, then yes, I could see 100 degree heat (in the shade) being a big pain in the ass.

  • Happy for the american fans over there

I just hope there gonna be other gigs closer to Paris this year... but i doubt it.

In my opinion, seems the planning will be :
    - writing new songs : april-may
    - gigs and rest : june til august
    - recording (and a mini-tour... asia ?) : sept til december
    - release of the new cd : beginning of 2009 (march ?)
    - spring-summer 2009 : world tour

We just must wait and shut our mouth
    :)
Still waiting for a gig in Paris (in a venue not a festival) since 2006...
    Spin, spin !!

    Marseille + Paris 2006
    London + Werchter 2007
    Arras + Belfast 2010
    Arras 2012
    Paris Lollapalooza 2022
  • God diggetty dam, all that time wasted studying the U.S. map to see ihow many shows i could travel to in the South and make a holiday of was just a fruitless past-time :(

And the air of excitement as i clicked the PJ site to check out the news has left me a little dissappointed as its only a miserable little festival!!!

Still, theres plenty of time yet to announce the REAL news we are all waiting for :D

I think the lineup is great. Most of these bands knows how to put on a great show! Can't ask for more than that!

Drive by truckers, Metallica, PJ, Willie Nelson and Talib Kweli are acts I would have been excited about if I was going! Damn!
