I saw PUTS and GP supported them in a dingy little venue in manchester a year or two ago, think it was last year. It rates as one of my fave gigs of all time as there was only about 100 people there and we were stood right against this tiny little stage that was only about 18 inches high!! I even got Thes One to sign my mates jacket after the show cos they were just hanging around in the club, oh and my wife was dancing on stage for the last song with em all! Sweeeeeeeet indeedBlack, the greatest without a doubt........0 -

I have, and I have to say...the album is pretty incedible.
I know a lot of people on these board does not listen to, like, or can even tolerate rap. However, "Tha Carter III" is our generation take on Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" in terms of moving hip-hop forward after a stagnant period.
Love it or hate it, hip-hop is a legiimate music genre presently. And this album is a bonafide classics in that it's smart, sharp, and well produced. It's an important album for music in that it's moving hip-hop forward.
Sure there are a number of horrid rap acts, but have you listened to modern rock radio lately? It's pretty awful too."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -

so if southern rap is THAT bad then why is Weezy the most popular rapper out there right now?
To say someone sucks and is nothing is different than not liking them. I personally do not like Nas, but he doesn't suck, he's extremely talented.
Wayne's image is different than those icon rappers by being the stereotypical gangster who loves women, but he still lays down some of the best rhymes since tupac and big, hense why he is being compared. The way he says "yessssir" or "yaaa dig?" You gotta love it
I'm not saying jump on the bandwagon, but what I'm saying is give his mixtapes a listen and tell me you dont think he's got talent, even if you dont like the songs

oh Outkast are overrated in my opinion. The Geto Boys- well, I only heard their song "Good to be Gangsta"...though I must admit Scarface's solo stuff is pretty good, but not good enough for me to care.
As much as I hate New York sports, I always liked their rap scene and hip hop history. NYC is where I'd like to hear rap. I'm not even a fan of the Westcoast stuff either. Yeah, I know I sound like I'm making a coastal/regional beef here but whatever...PJ- 04/29/2003.06/24,25,27,28,30/2008.10/27,28,30,31/2009

I don't even particularly rate Aesop but as far as abstract lyricism and crazy flow go, this pisses all over Weezy and yet he stays pretty much underground.

I agree 110%. Nothing about him appeals. He's fuckign annoying and his beats are lame as shit. You can tell the huge talent gap between him and rappers such as Biggy, 2Pac, Dre, E, Snoop, Warren G, Nate Dogg and Scarface. The difference is that unlike the best Wayne has no good flow. He's slow, his metaphors suck dick and his rhymes are hardly rhymes at all.
Go like sushi, im tryin to dip my celery
Up in her blue cheese
Ah's, oo wee's, wa la's, ta da's
Mhm's, ah ha's, oh yes, never oh no's
Until I have to go, and then its never oh no
I tell her dont cry, I be back like the electric bill
And when she butt naked she dressed to kill
That has to be one of the stupidest rap verses I have ever fucking heard.
Overall I really see how people can stand his flow, rhythm and beats. Not to mention his horrid voice.0 -
