  • Everything I have heard from him has yet to impress me. Sorry to be so vocal but when half of his songs have him rhyming "nigga" with "nigg-uh" and he's called the best rapper to come out I seriously cannot believe the hype. His style blows, his voice is annoying as shit, his beats/production sucks. Nothing about him really thrills me. His rhymes and beats do nothing for me. I'll just keep listening to actual classics such as:

    Scarface- The Fix
Dr. Dre- The Chronic and 2001
    Warren G- Regulate....G Funk Era

See this is an example of someone who has no clue what he is talking about.

The beats on Tha Carter III are some of the best beats around in the past few years thanks to Swizz and Kanye. And I don't think he even says "nigga" on the whole album? If so I can't recall. His rhymes are tight and he has good shit to say.

I'm not a huge Lil Wayne fan, but I hate it when people just right it off like it's another lame rap album. Sure there are a shit load of crappy rap albums, but Tha Carter III is very, very good for all those open-minded enough to listen.

It's a shame that people will pass over it just because of it's genre and not even give it a chance.

but i will give him props for selling a million in a week in this day and age. that in itself is impressive regardless of genre.

Actually I do have a clue because I let my friend play Tha Carter III and II in my car the other day. Nothing impressed me. I didn't find any "tight" rhymes or unique beats. Maybe we just have different hearing because I simply do not get Lil Wayne.
  • I just think you people need to actually listen to the album before making a judgement. The album is doing very well critically, and it says something to move a million in a week in this day and age.

And nice list restless, but Eminem? If you think Eminem is better than Lil Waye, you are fucking retarded.

    What?

Classic hip-hop is N.W.A., De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, (Young) Nas, Beastie Boys, Run D.M.C., Wu-Tang, etc.

The only hip-hoppers out there actually trying now a days to make good music are Jay-Z, Kanye, Common, KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Rhymefest, The Roots, and now Lil Wayne. (sure I'e forgotten a couple)

Did you even listen to that clip? Does it sound like radio rap to you? Yeah, didn't think so.

You post one song and talk about how great this record is. Just about every song on their could be played on the radio, just about every song has some girl R&B singer singing in the chorus.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=jIhTamlKsSM&feature=related
Explain to me how this isnt radio rap........this is the same crap that has been popular for a long time. You havent even heard Dr. Octagon.....it easily belongs with those other albums and is often seen by critics as one of the most original rap albums ever. Its shocking that you would even compare this crap to some of the legends of rap.

You are fucking retarded if you dont think he is better than Lil Wayne, sure Eminem hasnt made anything worth a damn since his second album but he has made two classic, original rap albums. Lil Wayne just continues to talk about money, guns, and bitches. Throwing one song on there about war (something he is most likely clueless about) does not make him some great rapper and lyricist.

It's about Hurricane Katrina because you know, Wayne is actually from New Orleans...so he might know about what actually happened.

I stopped reading the lyrics after I saw the word "soulja". Im so sick of rap songs with these damn R&B singers in the chorus. Rap used to be more rugged, funky, and just pure quality.

Here are a few videos for you to help remind you of better times for rap

By the way, as much as I hate New York sports teams, they do produce the BEST rappers around.

Lil Wayne and all the "Dirty" South rappers are garbage...that includes Outkast and T.I.

That Dr. Dre g-funk Westcoast crap is garbage as well.

The best rap is based in New York. All about the East coast bitches!!!

I actually think it's the best rap album since "Hell Hath No Fury" and "Fishscale." Just one man's opinion, however.

Hell Hath No Fury was criminally underrated. Pharrell gives his boys the best beats IMO.
