"I'll do whatever the song dictates - if it doesn't need a real lead, then I won't do one. But if it does, then I'll fuckin' go off." - Mike
"Japan is awesome; the fans there knew all the words to all the songs...at least phonetically." - Stone
"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV
anyway, I grew up in Ohio....some good music came out of there.
then, I lived a looooooong time in vegas. I think the only NV band of any note is/are the Killers.
now, I'm in Salt Lake....there's nothing...unless you consider Neon Trees a band.

Texas owns country music, the list is a mile long. But for Rock music, all I can think of is:
Toadies
Pantera
Buddy Holly
Drownding Pool
Texas also has: Butthole surfers Old 97's ZZ top
Are we only going with rock? We have some pretty awesome blues players too so I'm including both.
Stevie Ray Vaughn (listed earlier) His brother Jimmie Vaughn and the Fabulous Thunderbirds Janis Joplin My man Johnny Winter! Freddie King Roy Orbison Marcia Ball Bugs Henderson Not really a fan of Steve Miller but his album Sailor (with Boz Scaggs) rocks Doug Sahm Charlie Sexton Buddy Whittington (played with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers for several years) Old people like imalive may even remember the psychedelic band Fever Tree

can we all agree that Los Angeles would have the most? I'd rather not type them all out

what the hell ever happened to Charlie Sexton? Arc Angels and CS Sextet were good.
He's still in Austin. He plays locally and he does a lot of session work. He also produces other people's recordings. For years he's been playing lead in Dylan's backup band.
I dont remember fever tree but I do remember the psychedelic band 13th Floor Elevators.
Very influential band! Roky Ericson recovered after years of psychiatric care and still performs. I saw him at ACL fest several years ago. I think there's supposed to be a reunion show of surviving members sometime soon.
A friend of mine in Cali actually has a Fever Tree album! I gotta remind him to burn me a copy of it.
