other than Pearl Jam what bands do you actually like.....just so I can see if you taste in music is even slightly credible. I predict that your response will be: Soundgarden, Audioslave, Alice In Chains, Screaming Trees, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Led Zeppelin (EDIT) RHCP
.....if you are looking for an Arcade Fire song that is comparable to Porch - a song you can jam out to?????? you are barking up the wrong tree.
Try Neighborhood #3 (Power Out), probably their most "rockin" tuneIn my world everyone is a pony,

You've not heard them?
They're not like PJ, they're folk rock, rather than, well, rock rock.
But they are amazing.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

I don't know that I would call them "folk rock" - but then again, I dont really know what I would call them.....their music defies classification, its just damn good.In my world everyone is a pony,

Yeah OK, I should say they have their roots in folk rock - in many ways - I agree, they're unclassifiable, not purely folk rock.
I think some call it 'art rock', but that's pretty pretentious.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

I wasnt trying to argue - calling them "folk rock" is as valid as any description I have heard
I have often heard them described as "Baroque Pop"
"Modern baroque pop, characterized by an infusion of orchestral arrangements or classical type composition within an indie or indie pop setting, is usually referred to as chamber pop, and sometimes chamber rock.
Popular baroque pop artists today include:
Arcade Fire
The Dears
Badly Drawn Boy
Belle & Sebastian
Andrew Bird
Broken Social Scene
The Decemberists
Destroyer
Feist
Final Fantasy
Sondre Lerche
Margot and the Nuclear So and So's
Mean Red Spiders
Mercury Rev
Neutral Milk Hotel (now defunct)
Joanna Newsom
Okkervil River
The Shins
Elliott Smith (now deceased)
Peter Bjorn and John
Stars
Sufjan Stevens
Rufus Wainwright
The Unicorns (now defunct)

some excellent choices - not nearly as grunge'd out as I was expecting

I think that it is a very dark album and will take a few listens to admire it. Its not in Ten's league0

I listened to a few samples on Itunes and it sounded like sh*t to me.0

Arcade Fire is a bunch of whiney wankers. Boring drivel. But hey if that floats your boat. It's probably really good when you're under the influence of a mind altering substance.one foot in the door
the other foot in the gutter
sweet smell that they adore
I think I'd rather smother

I give up trying to fight the good fight.....you may not like the band BUT if there is one thing that Arcade Fire is NOT - its BORING
I hope you all enjoy watching Pearl Jam and all your 90's grunge icons on their reunion tours as they become less and less relevant and fade into obscurity on the Casino tour circuitIn my world everyone is a pony,

Just because someone doesn't share your oh-so-encompassing music taste doesn't mean that you have to become hostile toward theirs. It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win0
