All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

A PJ coverband in Orlando, or anywhere close, would be awesome, but I don't see anything coming up. Can't make it to Jacksonville this Friday, but I wish I could, I have never seen a PJ coverband before.

Yeah, another south thread, you could see by the title what it was so if you have a problem with another South thread you shouldn't have clicked on it. I just want to say to the band that this is BS if you totally ignore all of your loyal fans in the south just because you don't sell out 18,000 seaters like you do in the northeast or west coast. So you don't have as many fans down here, so what? So a lot of the people down here have bad taste in music and listen to Toby Kieth and Usher, so what? You still got a ton of fans here that would make it worthwhile to do the gigs. The simple solution is play fewer shows in smaller venues. You don't have to play small clubs, but there are such places that hold between 1,000 and 8,000 people, that would be perfect. And instead of thinking you have to play Little Rock and San Antonio and Oklahoma City and every other dinky small southern city, play 6 to 8 shows in the big cities and call it a leg. Phoenix, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, Nashville or Memphis, Nola, ....places like that that will attract people from all over. When you skipped Dallas in 95 I drove to Austin and would do it again. Please, take two weeks out of your spring to show us some love. Come, rock us. You are amazing and we love you.

What If:
A. It's Not Cost Efficient
B. They Want To Take A deserved Break
C. They Hate The South And Don't Know How Else To Say It
"The leads are weak!"
"The leads are weak? Fuckin' leads are weak? You're Weak! I've Been in this business 15 years"
I have planted 4 trees in my backyard in honor of Pearl Jam playing the south. with the proper love and care i will be cutting them down and smoking them in a few months to ease the pain of PJ not coming to florida.
"So, you must really love Led Zeppelin. That’s the oldest shirt I’ve ever seen on someone who wasn’t a bum."
"Hey, if God didn’t want me to wear it so much, he wouldn’t have made them rock so hard."
A. It's Not Cost Efficient
I wouldn't accept this as a reason. A major headlining act like PJ can play to sold out mid-sized venues that will make it cost efficient for them to play there. Bands make adjustments for smaller tours/gigs. It balances out, they spend less when they travel to fewer cities.
B. They Want To Take A deserved Break
Then by all means surf and play your ukelele for a few months in Maui and get back to us in April. I appreciate PJ for the touring they have done, but even this world tour's schedule does not rank high on the list of greuling tours I can recall. Think U2 (older dudes) and the amount of shows they do, and think of younger bands trying to get things started and playing twice the amount of shows with much fewer breaks. I'm not saying PJ busts their ass, but you can take a break and still come play a few shows down here.
C. They Hate The South And Don't Know How Else To Say It
Then I couldn't argue, but when you don't tell the truth you should expect more prodding.

Before getting all bitter, read about the people in Jordan, Russia, Asia, etc. who have never been not will never (likely) be able to go to a show.
Simply put, it's economics. The same reason they are not going to China is the same reason they aren't going to the South. It has nothing to do with fan loyalty or any other notions that have been tossed out on this board.
It sucks, but you can't argue with the decision. It leaves you with the decision of whether or not to pony up the dough to make a trip North next tour. Which, I might add, is a decision that those in Jordan, China, etc. do not have the option to make.

if they can play the middle of nowhere like the gorge i think they could play atlanta. i travel to see them and alot of other fans do to. so its not like the south shows would be only southerns. im willing to bet hawaii isnt all natives. and i highly doubt its ecomical to fly out there to play 1-2 shows. i honestly think, and i hate to say it but, that pj is all pissy they cant sell out the biggest venues down south so they have a 'screw them' attitude.
Come on now, comparing the costs of playing shows in the south to playing shows in the middle east and china? that's stretching it a bit isn't it?
well that is the obvious reason they are not playing shows in the South bottom line
i have a hard time understanding how they made that much in Canada with some of those long drives
people forget we are in the minority wanting shows in the south.. yeah they could get 1000 tenclubers but that is just 10% of what they need
i wish they would come to the south and play maybe 3-6 cities and do it SF style and stay there 3 nights or so to cut the travel costs -- all in smaller venues

I'm not disagreeing that cost has a huge thing to do with it. But comparing the cost of driving to the south, which is in the same country the band reside in, to shipping all of the equipment and buying plane tickets to farway lands isn't exactly justifiable.
What part of they don't draw as well in the South don't you nitwits get? They skip you this tour, make you hungry again, then come back next tour to save the South. Kelly Curtis is their manager for a reason, because he is one of the best in the business.
Pearl Jam could do it, and make money at it. The problem is they WOULDN'T MAKE ENOUGH MONEY! You are nowhere near America's greatest band if you can't play to a whole subsection of the United States. Plain and simple. It is the coastal bias. Lots of people on the coasts like them, so they are "America's" best band. Whateva. Play the fucking south and prove it.

He has a point. Think about the Canadian tour in this light. Don't play there for a while, play in an off year and sell out venues like Hamilton and Kitchener. Do the same with the South, play there in '07 and get all the yankees to come down (and sell out Bumblefucky). Ching, ching!
