Sick of hearing about Led Zeppelin

I love Pearl Jam almost as much as Zep and have dozens of PJ bootlegs. The great thing about music is that no-one has the exact same musical taste - I think you should probably try respecting people's opinions. This is the Other Music section, where people are free to discuss whatever bands they like - the LZ reunion is the biggest thing to happen in the last 10 years, so naturally people are going to want to discuss it. If you dont want to discuss it, then dont! Go and read other threads!
Your kidding, right? How is that respecting somebodies opinion?Alpine Valley 2000

thats just stupid. without all those blues players zeppelin ripped off there would be no zeppelin, if there was no elvis there would be no zeppelin. im not gonna run out and buy every elvis cd and robert johnson cd just because with out them there would be no led zeppelin.
and seriously there is the velvet underground and hendrix, neil young, etc i think they did some things for the music i listen too. in fact id go as far as to say lou reed has a bigger impact on what i listen to then zeppelin.
what about the beatles???
this arguement is just stupid, zeppelin arent the gods of rock. with or without them rock music would have moved forward.0 -

Bottom line for me is Led Zeppelin is the greatest band (for me) and I've had an orgasm which has now lasted since about 3:00PM Pacific Standard Time, Dec 10th, 2007. I think I've seen warnings on TV ads about products like Viagra that being in this state for longer than 4 hours could be hazardous to one's health. So I hope I'll be alright.
Zeppelin played a major (huge) role (not exclusive role) in shaping the Rock Genre for which Pearl Jam is in. Look at Jeff's guote in the latest Rolling Stone. To paraphrase, he says thay every time they go on stage, they want to perform like Zeppelin on stage in 1973. Without Zeppelin, there would still be rock and roll. I think it would be different, but I'm not sure how and to what extent.Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river0 -
Yeah, I'd say Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen are Pearl Jam's biggest influences... but that's just me.
To be honest, I think Led Zeppelin is just way overrated. I mean, sure, yeah, they're good and all... but ionno... they're good in my book, just not even close to the best.If I could, think I would give in.0 -
It amazes me how overrated this rock band still is to this day. Yeah, I thought they were kind of cool when I was a teenager, but come on now. It doesn't warrant all this fuss.
I thought it was funny that I heard a Zep/ Virizon commericial while driving the other day. Those old timers must really need the money!0 -

Why?
I'm over 30 years old I'm not some young punk who thinks he's cool because he's just discovered the Zep/Floyd/Bowie etc.
I've owned all 8 Zep studio album albums since the early 90's. I've brought every PJ album on the first day of release since VS. I think i'm in a decent position to make a fair comparison and make my own mind up0 -
To anyone saying Zeppelin is overrated:
Listen to How The West Was Won. Pay special attention to Jimmy Page's guitar work during Heartbreaker and then come back and say they are overrated.
My husband was playing this album in the car the other day. I can't get it out of my head.Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away0 -
Led Zeppelin can't be overratted. They're the only band that can warrant the most outrageous titles: GODS OF ROCK, ect. The simple truth is they are the best at that certain thing they did. The best collection of talent ever. I could probably write a f-ing book. Most rock fans probably would agree, not because its status quo, but because THE MUSIC IS THE BEST to the rock fans.bombs, dropping down, please forgive our hometown0

The lyrics on a lot of zep are pretty lame. A lot of people are unable to decide for themselves so they just go along with the popular perception of the band. There good no doubt, but other bands have produced more memorable bodies of work.0

Of course other bands have produced memorable bodies of work.
Lyrics are lame?

I'm very selective about the Zep I listen to. Sometimes they come across as smug and inauthentic, and they don't rock as hard or as purely as Hendrix. They're all right, though.0

thats one of the reasons im not a huge zeppelin fan. even when the music is awesome if you listen to the lyrics you cant help but laugh.
custard pie, boogie with stu, you shook me, etc
simple lyrics are one thing but zeppelin sometimes comes off as they dont even try. "who cares we're zeppelin, i could fart in the mic as long as there is a rockin solo people will think it's godly"0 -
sick of hearing about led zeppelin?
who the hell says that???
they are legends!!!!!!!0 -
pjoasisrule wrote:I like them okay and all but I am sick of hearing about them and all the other hype reunion shows have gotten. Not even that many people got to see their show and its still not even confirmed whether they will put out a new record or even do more shows. So whats the point of making thread and thread talking about a band well past their prime and posting poor quality youtube videos?
You only just "like" Led Zepplin???
I just don't get that, at all... :(0 -
I just watched "the song remains the same" (old version) again, and I can only say that they are true "rock gods" on stage, but..........
I find it quite boring to listen to actually : (
Of course they made a huge impact on the future rock scene as did Beatles, Stones, Sabbath and a bunch of other bands at the time.
They do have their fair share of real good songs, but I don't really understand the worldwide hype of the reunion either.
If they release a new studioalbum I'll listen to it with an open mind, but I doubt it will bring a new revolution to rock.......
There are so many great bands all over the world, so why linger to the ones that had their peak 30 years ago ?
(but I admit I was first in line when Deep purple MkII reunited back in -85, that was a fun show to watch but nothing more.....)Everyday................is Pearl Jam Day.
Except Sundays, that's Ed day.
The mind is like a parachute, it doesn't work unless it's open. FZ0
