Most of the vocalists mentioned here with better range than Bowie don't have half his skill in using their voice to express different emotions and characters all within the same song. They don't call him "The Chameleon" for nothing.

Well of course I disagree there....Cornell IMO is the one who shines on that song. He comes from out of nowhere with incredible power...and completely stealing the show from Vedder.

You've got to be kidding me.

yeh dude - its just something we wont agree on, thats cool

i still respect ur choices dude
  • Did somebody say David Bowie wasn't a good singer?? Are you kidding??
  • Yes I know not many people are posting their lists anymore, but I haven't checked the boards in a few days.

    1. Chris Cornell
    2. Freddie Mercury
    3. Jeff Buckley
    4. Robin Wilson (of the Gin Blossoms)
    5. Maynard James Keenan
    6. Ed Kowalczyk
    7. Michael Stipe
    8. Robert Plant
    9. Gregg Allman
    10. Eddie Vedder

Hmm, no black guys or women... I must be wrong somehow.

And I don't think Bowie is a particularly good singer.

For sure!  I was just going to say, Tony Bennett belongs on any top ten list of vocalists.  A terrific singer, a fine painter, and a truly good soul.  A sad loss, for sure.
