My most eagerly anticipated release of 2007...

Guy over on the ninebullets board mentioned that JI's merch people said a possible May release for Sirens... hardly official, but a good indication that good things are on the way.

  • The solo shows are a nice indication. Can't wait to hear this new disc...add in Patterson's new solo project and you've got a good off-DBT year.

Yeah, I read the short review of Isbells solo show over on the yahoo group. Be interesting to hear some of the songs we are used to hearing with the DBT (Never Gonna Change, Goddam Lonely Love) with a different band. I'm looking forward to the Patterson release more though. Suppose I'll have to start my own thread for that!
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Really? I think you may be in the minority on that one. I'll admit that I haven't given Killers and Stars the proper attention I should, but I was a tad disappointed with it. Again, this was on first listen and I need to go back and listen again.

I don't buy a lot of full length albums anymore...but I'm eagerly awaiting Jason's disc. He's a great songwriting and guitarist. I expect great things.

I like Killers and Stars, but I don't think its a great album. Theres some great tracks (Uncle Disney, The Assasin, Miss Me Gone, Cat Power). It's a pretty rough home recording though. I base it more on his overall strength of a songwriter over the years. I tend to gravitate more to Pattersons songs (Lookout Mountain, Sinkhole, Iwo Jima, Dead Drunk & Naked) as they have that mix of dark desperation and humor that drew me into the DBT to begin with. In any case, it will be interesting to hear both these guys fill an album with their own songs. Isbell only gets a few per album so I'm sure he's got some great ones hiding up his sleeve.

Those are two important points. It was a rough recording and maybe that's what put me off.

I haven't been around DBT from the beginning...just got into them in '05...I think that makes a difference.

Honestly, I may like Patterson's material more...but I am looking forward to Jason's disc a little bit more than Patterson's. Both should be stellar and I look forward to more solo and group dates.

  • Let us not forget Mike Cooley.

He's got five solo albums....or whatever he said about the DBT catalog.

    :D

But yeah, looking forward to these two.

  • Crystal Clear is such a kick ass song......... and why is ninebullets down?
  • If you click on the music tab on myspace front page and type in Jason Isbell you`ll find a couple of the new songs. The only one I`ve seen him play is Chicago Prominade, and the album version is quite different ..... give it a look though
  • can someone please help me with a link to jason's myspace page as i've been looking for it and can't find a link off the DBT main website...which is strange...to say the least!

You might want to do an audio hijack of the tracks because I doubt they'll be up long. Someone on the Nine Bullets board notified Jason of the alternate site...so they may be coming down soon.

That's a good one. Should be a great album.

Anyone notice that Britney Spears is a friend to Jason on his official myspace page? Seemed a little out place among the DBT, Centro-Matic, and the Drams.

    Jason fans:

His MySpace page has 3 new songs from Sirens of the Ditch up... including the long awaited studio version of Dress Blues...

Two other songs called Grown and Try...

Isbell is fantastic... I haven't felt this good listening to new music in a while...

For some reason I'm getting Esquire Magazine (actually, I think it's because they stopped printing FHM and that is my replacement).

Anyway, there is a nice write up about Jason's new album and the Muscle Shoals sound.

It's very good...actually, I'm surprised that Dress Blues hasn't caught the attention of a broader audience yet.

  • I've kept myself from listening to any of the songs off the album other than watching Amazon's video of Dress Blues. I was disappointed when I heard he left DBT, but I'm really excited for this album because he is an awesome songwriter. The only thing I could be more excited for would be a new DBT album.
