I'm currently listening to Wintersleep's "Untitled" album for the 6th time in a row!

I can't get enough of it... :o:D

Zanne and I recently saw them at the Chicago House of Blues... they were amazing live!

'Nerves Normal, Breath Normal' gives me chills and takes me right back to front row at the show... :)

Anyone else discover the greatness that is Wintersleep?

I have discovered their greatness due to the Other Music forum.

I have both their album, and I adore their first (I get confused between the two...isn't one untitled and one called Wintersleep?) but have yet to get into the second, but i'm sure I will.

I've heard they are REALLY good live, and I would love to see them if they ever come over to Europe. I feel that I would be going on my own though.

    sweet!

the first album is "Wintersleep", the second is "Untitled"...

I bought the second album first, because it had more songs on it that i recognized from the show.... but your comment just sealed the deal on my purchasing the first album tonight! :)

The best part of their live show is their drummer Loel... he is a really skilled drummer, and is very entertaining to watch... :p

It sounds like they've got a new album in the works too... i can't wait!

check out the videos of Archeologist and Murderer... I think they must be songs from their upcoming album... I remember hearing both of these at the shows in Chicago...

I really want to see them live. I need to listen to Untitled more then.

I think someone here posted a link to their myspace page, and I heard Orca and really loved it. I got the first album on the basis of that track, and was expecting not to like the album, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised!

Think I might listen to it later. :D

I think our Wintersleep experience could have been best described as sublime.

Who am I kidding? They fucking rocked! Esp their monster-faced drummer, Loel! I think civ_eng_girl does a great job at the long winded, properly formatted reviews.. I, on the other hand, am the d0rk in the back jumping up and down and making faces and funny noises. =)

lol! Z, you are evil.... :p Loel ruled.... and I love guys that love their moms! :D

(for those reading, Zanne and I met Loel outside the HOB Hotel on Mother's Day, and he was heading in to pick up his mom to take her out for breakfast :))

  • I am new to these guys, loving their stuff but I can't find any of their bloody albums anywhere. I can only conclude they're some small Canadian indie band who haven't made their way over to the UK yet.

I love this band! I've been addicted to their untitled album for about a year now and never seem to tire of it. Insomnia is one of the most beautifully haunting songs I've ever heard. I cannot wait for their new stuff!

Amazing band! I can't remember where I first heard about them, but I've been obsessed with both of their albums for the last few months. As civ_eng_girl has already mentioned, their most recent self-titled album is pure genius. Word on the street is that they have a new album coming out later this year.
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

I thought they were both Self-titled. Wouldn't be the first band with 2 self titled albums.
    Which came first,
the bad idea or me befallen by it?

i thought we'd talked about wintersleep before, ceg...maybe not? anyway, the first record is awesome! i'm happy you and zanne got to see them open for the hip. :)

i've seen them no less than 30 times or so, so i know how much they kick ass live. loel is a monster on the drums, but a very calm, easy going guy...stark contrast to the guy on stage! :D

I'll have to give these guys another chance....I checked them out a couple months back based on a recommendation from this board.

At the time I listened to a few tunes on their myspace site and thought they were OK - the singers voice kinda rubbed me the wrong way.....I think I caught a hint of a Dave Matthews tinge to his vocals - and that killed it for me - and there was one screaming bit (in Orca?) where he did this horribly annoying screaming thing (maybe I just wasnt in the right mood)
