Got to hear silverchairs new Straight Lines twice on radio yesterday.
I'm liking it, but then I didn't expect not to. Being a huge fan of theirs since they were kids. As I've only heard it a couple of times, I'm not sure I didn't want it to get a bit more grunt. Specially toward the end, kinda needed it I thought but I've only had two listens. You can hear Paul Mac's influence most definitely. It is sounding a lot more like Disassociatives than past silverchair. Well that's my thought anyway. A few friends who are fans have agreed. Not that I have a problem with Paul Mac or the Disassociatives, but I'd hate to lose all that is silverchair. Evolution baby! Sure go for it!! Melding into something already existing? hmmm, guess we'll see. I really do need a few more listens.
Oh! And by the way, those of you that haven't updated your silverchair collections, (as Molly would say) "Do yourself a favour" and do it!! You won't regret it. Oh and you gotta go see them live peoples!! I've seen them live at least six times now on different tours over the years and they really are an awesome band live.
I've always loved the Chair, but I really got into them when I heard The Door live. Fucking hectic. Awesome band both in studio and live. Daniel Johns is one of the musical geniuses of our time.
Reflections of a Sound is awesome. I'm still a big Straight Lines fan. This bad boy should be leaking in the next week or two. I wish a US distributor would pick up Silverchair so I don't have to import the album
the band is going to be streaming the new album on their website tomorrow!
here's hoping it gets out to the net community. i really dont wanna pay $30 to import it just becos the us companies are too fucking stupid to sign these guys and get their music out.

sweet! thanks for letting us know about this. i, too, don't understand how there is no record company here that will take them. people will fucking sign bands like hinder or acts like fergie, but talented musicians who have established themselves as one of the premiere rock bands right now can't catch a break in the u.s. makes no sense.

ill keep that offer in mind, i was considering soliciting for such a deal anyway. though the exchange rate would make it a pain in the ass for me to figure out what i owe you

Ok. Cool.
I guestimated that the new cd will probably cost around $30AU, although I suspect that I'll be able to get it a bit cheaper than that, so if I don't include postage, (which is a pittance I've discovered when posting cds) and just keep it to $30AU then it would cost you $24.14 based on today's exchange rate of $1AU = 0.804766 USD. Of course the Aussie dollar is doing well against the greenback right now, it's normally sitting at around .76USD.
It's too easy to work it out with a currency converter ss! Must be!! I managed it!!
So anyway, something for you to ponder. The offer's there should you want it.

$24 for a cd? that's insane... if they sign to an american label it'll probly be $15 tops. and your estimate didnt include overseas shipping cost... i might have to wait and download it, hehe

Yeah, I know. We pay extra tax and penalties for supporting the Australian music industry. It's bullshit but it happens.
Anyway, last time I posted cd's to the US just before Xmas I think it cost me under $2. Anyway, you know if you want it, that I'll get it and send it.
No biggy. Just another option.
seems they've got it rigged so you can only listen once. wish id known, id have paid closer attention. i liked it, but it didnt really grab me as much as diorama did.
If "Refelections of a Sound" and "Waiting All Day" aren't singles in America than they don't want to ever have a hit in the states again. This album is amazing.

Agree. I kind of miss their harder rock sound, but you can't argue with the quality of these tunes.

New Silverchair song posted on their website.
Reflections of a Sound. Live acoustic version played at a radio station in LA today. Also, an interview is posted.
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?
Feels like were all alone
Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow
So what are we becoming?
Where did we go wrong?
Reflections of a Sound is a great great tune though. Definitely like it better than Straight Lines.
Can't wait for their new album.
