Ok... for anyone who wants to join in, we're gonna do a Pub Crawl this Thursday, 7/17 around 6:00PM to help determine the best location for the pre-party! All are very welcome to join :)

Here's the list we'll work off of - but if anyone feels we should add/cross off the list, please do so. I'd like to narrow it down to 3-5 bars to visit for the evening.

I think I'm also going to call them tomorrow or Monday and check capacity - that will also help narrow down our choices.

    Kasey's Tavern
    701 S Dearborn St, Chicago, IL - (312) 427-7992 - 0.2 mi SW

    Hackney's Printers' Row
    733 S Dearborn St, Chicago, IL - (312) 461-1116 - 0.2 mi SW

    Manhattan's Bar
    415 S Dearborn St, Chicago, IL - (312) 957-0460 - 0.2 mi S

Exchequer Restaurant - more info »
    226 S Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL - (312) 939-5633 - 0.2 mi N

    Millers Pub
    134 S Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL - (312) 263-4988 - 0.3 mi N

Bar Louie Inc-Dearborn Station - more info »
    47 W Polk St, Chicago, IL - (312) 347-0000 - 0.3 mi SW

    Elephant & Castle - more info »
    111 W Adams St, Chicago, IL - (312) 236-6656 - 0.4 mi NW

Cactus Bar & Grill - more info »
    404 S Wells St, Chicago, IL - (312) 922-3830 - 0.4 mi W134

We cross South Loop Club off the list as Jeannette said it was too small. Rock Bottom is too far away, and Cactus looks a bit far too.

    So who's in? :)

if your doing the crawl on 17th you might want to add BAR LOUIE to the list to check out. the food is awesome (ckn ceaser sndw best sndw ive ever had) i think they have happy hour specials that would work for our time frame. cant remember if it is big enough though. its about 3 or 4 blocks from venue. when checking out bars remember to look for a juke box so we can keep pj/ed music playing. most of the bars that serve food usualy let people in under 21(not always though) so thats another thing to keep in mind. im from chicago and went to sd 1n2,this solo tour is like pj desert something really special for real fans. im soooooo pumped. going to milw tc tics, chi 1 tc tics, chi 2 tict bastrd tics. expctn something special 4 last show also(he didnt disapt sd2 last show of west coast). went to my 1st n 2nd pre prtys in wst plm beach n tampa. what n awesome time. im so glad we did. count me in for prtys 1 n 2 here. one last thing to keep in mind is the size of bar as you may be lookn at more than 40. just trying to help. p.s to the people workn on setting this up its so cool of you to help out others.

Thanks for the recommendation. Added Bar Louie to the list :) And added you to the other list. It'll be nice to meet you

i would cross millers pub of the list. used to go there alot. i cant imagine a party of even 20 in there. long and narrow. pretty much an eatery. hackneys, kaseys, bar louie all are right by each other so you could check those out pretty easily. cactus is not really that far so that might be worth a shot also. wish i could make it the 17th but i think im working at 10pm that night. good luck though. cant wait to meet all of you. were going to have a great time no matter where it ends up being.

I think I will have a PJ beanie to donate. It has never fit on my melon but I really like it so I just look at it. It is the maroon one from a few years ago. I have never been able to wear it cause it hurt my head immediately when I put it on. I'll think about it. It is nice!! Amy and I will be there for night 2 only!!! Can't wait to see you all again!

I was gonna post that I'd definitely be in for Thursday, but then I remembered I'm taking my brother and he's only 15. (he's a huge fan and this will be his first concert ever, can't wait to see how he reacts, hehe) Might be in for Friday, but I gotta talk to my friend first. We will definitely be up for a post-party Friday night and I'd love to meet some fellow fans. I'll stay posted on all of this.

Wish I were going to Chicago again! We got tix to DC instead this time. I am going to have to try and see if I can talk the husband into coming down anyway. It's not that long of a drive for us in Michigan. And I can say that the Smile wishlist shirts are amazing! I wore mine the other night to Sammy Hagar (i know, I know but we had great seats on the stage ;) )

If there is concern about making this pre party an all ages event, then Exchequer might be the best option. I am pretty sure that it is an all ages place as it is more restaurant than bar. It is also really big and should be able to hold however many people show up. Plus, if memory serves, they have a relatively good price on pitchers of beer.

    So who's in? :)

i think im in! if i cant make the pub crawl - im definitely in for meeting up before thursday nite's show

just some notes on a couple of these suggestions - the exchequer stinks - its not really a pub - its actually a family style restaurant with a little bar area in the front (basically - its like a local diner - yet they charge a pretty penny for tiny mixed drinks) - its a pretty dirty place as well...

the elephant and castle is nice - but it also is mainly a restaurant - they have a larger bar area than exchequer - but im not sure if it will be able to accomodate everyone who's planning on attending

at any rate - i look forward to meeting a bunch of you! and that wishilist foundation t-shirt looks awesome! im in for one of those as well!

EDIT - oof - i just saw lawguy's comment - yeah - if its going to be an all ages event - then maybe we should be looking for a restaurant-type place (wth was i thinkin?! i have to realize that its not always about the booze! lol)

There is a restaurant/wine bar/bar at the Best Western. Food is decent and cheap, beer is cold and it is never crowded. Might be a good place for a larger crowd. I know that they have allowed other groups to do fundraisers there so please keep in mind. It is at 11th and Michigan, about 5 blocks from venue. Gotta love the stella on tap...

My wife and I are flying in from Carolina on thursday afternoon. As of right now, we only have tix for N2, but I am trying to change that! Count us in for both pre-partys though for sure!

This will be our first time in Chi-town and we have a ton of questions (too many for a post) around places to stay, places to see, cubs game, accessing the L, etc.

Is there anybody who wouldn't mind sharing some knowledge and answering some questions via phone?

We are really looking forward to spending some time in this great city.

I have blocked 10 rooms at the Palmer House Hilton, if anyone is interested in staying, pm me and I will give you the details.

If you post/PM the details (name of place, location, block code) I'll updated it on the first page. Thanks for getting to it!

Yeah, they did run small. What's up w/that? Maybe they think we are all cranially deficient! No night 1?? :(

Random question for fellow Chicago goers... Anyone NOT receive their confirmation email yet? I got my Milwaukee one within a day or so, but no Chicago!

Got mine right away. Spam folder maybe? I can forward you mine if you want it!
I got my confirmation email Cateeto :/

THanks!!! I can donate a Summerfest 06 poster...might even have 2 extras to donate!!

Is it the Fish by Furturtle, the white baby head by Ames, the yellow baby head by Ames or the pink skull guitar by Ames? :)

Keep an eye on the thread - if we find an all ages place, bring your bro along w/you!

If you can convince him, it'd be worth it!! :)

i think im in! if i cant make the pub crawl - im definitely in for meeting up before thursday nite's show

just some notes on a couple of these suggestions - the exchequer stinks - its not really a pub - its actually a family style restaurant with a little bar area in the front (basically - its like a local diner - yet they charge a pretty penny for tiny mixed drinks) - its a pretty dirty place as well...

the elephant and castle is nice - but it also is mainly a restaurant - they have a larger bar area than exchequer - but im not sure if it will be able to accomodate everyone who's planning on attending

at any rate - i look forward to meeting a bunch of you! and that wishilist foundation t-shirt looks awesome! im in for one of those as well!

EDIT - oof - i just saw lawguy's comment - yeah - if its going to be an all ages event - then maybe we should be looking for a restaurant-type place (wth was i thinkin?! i have to realize that its not always about the booze! lol)

PM me and definitely let me know if you'll be coming and I'll give you my cell #. I wouldn't rule out the restaurant type places because of the underagers.. and hey.. more places for us to drink at tomorrow!

Is it separate from the BW? (Like do they have their own hours, etc.?)

I'd love to help, but I still don't know Chi well enough to feel comfortable giving advice to an out-of-towner. Any you city peeps want to help out NC?
