Last December Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band played a concert in Asbury Park with a setlist consisting solely of outtakes from Darkness On the Edge of Town. The material had just been released on the new box set The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge of Town Story. It was a massive three CD/three DVD set, but yesterday they released a new DVD/Blu Ray called The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town. It contains a previously released documentary about the making of the album and five songs taped at the Asbury Park show last year. Check out an exclusive video of "Ain't Good Enough For You" from the show right here.
During the show (which you can read a review of here) Springsteen and the band played 11 songs at least two times apiece. It's somewhat baffling why they'd leave over half the show on the cutting room floor, but five is definitely better than none.

Springsteen has been off the road since the Working On A Dream tour ended a year and a half ago. This has been one of his longest breaks since he reformed the E Street Band a decade ago, and there's no hint of what his next project is going to be – though rumors persist that he is working on a memoir. For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

It would be great to hear what he has to say about his own life!0 -

Bruce Springsteen, the bust.
The Bruce Springsteen bust looks like ....
Bruce Springsteen
An Apache chief
Lead singer of Loverboy
Famous statue of Lenin
Patrick Stewart
Pete Postlethwaite
Spock

"Hideous."
"Creepy."
And the review of the bust of Bruce Springsteen that's risen in Asbury Park is just warming up.
The piece in NJ.com begins:
So I'm driving down Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park yesterday and as I'm sitting at the red light at Grand Avenue, I look to my right and see this new sculpture in Kennedy Park. It's this huge head and pretty scary looking. I look at the name below and it reads: "Bruce Springsteen, Soulful Humanitarian."
UGH!
It's supposed to be flattering. It's by a Princeton-trained sculptor.
One observer worries that the artwork might be enough to keep the modest rocker from even visititing the Shore town where he earned his spurs.
Is it that bad?
To me it is. This is the scary Springsteen, the mug shot Springstreen, the angry, bizarro-world Bruce you don't want to cross. Or play with.
I came across this on Facebook, where one womanly wag wonders:
"What's Bruce without the butt?"
The sculpture was sponsored by the Arts Coalition of Asbury Park (ArtsCAP) and the Shore Institute of Contemporary Arts (SICA). A story in an Asbury Park paper, "The Coaster," reports that sculpture was created by Stephen Zorochin., who has an interesting vision of Jimi Hendrix as well. For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

Oh my!!
If I hadn't read the label, I would have never guessed who it was!
I mean, it has something of Bruce's once you look at it, but on the whole it is creepy, indeed! :(0 -
LOL
I enjoy the poll selections.

I'm asking all of my PJ family and friends to keep a thought and maybe a prayer for Clarence Big Man Clemmons today. He has suffered a stroke yesterday at his home in Florida, and apparently, his entire Left side has indeed been affected as a result. I hope amd pray that he has a full, speedy recovery and is back behind his Saxophones in no time. Get well, Big Man ,....
I will NEVER forget at the final VFC show in NJ back in 2004.
Wen Eddie showed up, and played with Bruce, Big Man, and the entire E-Street Band .
First, Eddie traded verses with bruce on No Surrender, and Darkness On The Edge Of Town.
Most of us would be more than happy with that,
But then to hear Eddie and the ENTIRE E-Street Band covering " Better Man "- was just, well, an unbelievable event in my little world.
The beautiful, rich sound of Clarences horns in a full out E Street version of this Pearl Jam Classic was just beautiful. I will remember that night, ( 10-13-04 ) for the remainder of my days. Just beautiful,....

"MIRACLES ARE HAPPENING"
The latest out of Florida has Clarence Clemons in better condition than anyone expected, a close friend tells Backstreets: "Yesterday, it did not look good at all. Today... miracles are happening. His vital signs are improving. He's responsive. His eyes are welling up when we're talking to him. He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he's squeezing with his left hand. This is the best news we've heard since [the stroke] happened — it's nothing short of miraculous. The next five days will still be critical. But he's a fighter."
Please join us in continuing to send prayers, love, and light to the Big Man.For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
