Can anybody suggest a frame for Cleveland ‘03? It’s a weird size, 18.5x24.5. And I was thinking some sort of gray frame. I don’t think black would look right.

I'd use a standard 22x28, even though it's a half inch bigger. I don't think covering that .5 with a 2 inch mat all around would make a difference at all. If you're trying to go mat-less, you would have to get something custom, which may not make a ton of sense. Regarding the color, I've had success taking standard black frames and getting spray primer and spray paint from Lowe's or whatever and make the frames any color you want. It's a dirt cheap way to change up standard black while only paying a few bucks more.

Hey group, can someone point me to a DIY shop you have used and liked? I want to take a shot at framing my St.Louis Ames on my own here at home - too nervous to drop it off anywhere. Also, anyone have pro tips on these 98's? Dimensions? Matte ideas? Appreciate all of your wisdom!

I really like this place. I have framed several posters using them when I don't want to spend a lot at the framers.

What glass do you choose and are you pleased with it? That's where it can spike in price, I've found.
For poster sizes, they use plexi. It is lighter to ship. I usually get the UV non-glare version. Once it is on the wall it looks like glass. I have not used them to frame more expensive or rarer posters. I spend the money at a framer for those. However, I will probably use them for my 10C posters I just ordered. For those, it is fine. You can also order with no glass if you want and just buy the mat and frame, and buy the glass separately at a framers if you don't want plexi.

Is it that super cheap plexi that's paper thin? You usually see that at Michaels for the really cheap frames. Or is it something a bit more substantial?

I’m not sure what Michael’s frames are like so I can’t compare. It is not super thick, but not that flimsy. You could call and ask. For me it’s a good alternative. The last two posters I framed cost $350 each just for the framing. Worth it for those two. But for my two coming up, it is not. What I might do is what I suggested and buy the frame and the mat there, and the get the glass from my framer. But here is a photo of something I framed using Art to Frames with the plexi. It came out ok.
