Did you have a coupon? I just wait for there 60% plus 15% Sales which makes them somewhat affordable.edm826 said:I just brought my Denver poster to the local Michaels because it seems like most of you have had luck there -- triple matting, basic black frame and non glare glass -- the estimate came to $823 incl tax... Am I missing something? Has anyone else experienced this sort of estimate for this poster. The sales associate told me the price was due to the size of the glass... Any thoughts? Thanks

Should have added that most of my posters are done with backing and basic frame & are around $100-$120. (I wait until I have 2-3 of them and the guy gives me a "discount")F Me In The Brain said:Spent $275 today to get the Cincy/Sticker/Ticket triple matte job like one I saw posted here...for my brother as it was his first show. Really need to learn how to frame myself!
(He wanted to charge me $370 for a Jerry Rice Game/Signed Jersey and personalized Jerry Rice signed 8x10 picture in a big frame together. I left my personalized Jerry Rice football out...and is was still $370. Told him that would need to wait. PJ/Gifts come first!)
A local mom & pop store here. Am I in the right bracket or should I be shopping around? I like the owner and his wife but if I can get much cheaper I can look around.Post edited by F Me In The Brain onThe love he receives is the love that is saved0 -

My local frame shop is WAY cheaper than the BIG BOX stores,
EVEN with their supposed "Coupon" sales!!!
I've never felt comfortable taking my photographs or posters to a place that also sells fake flowers or fabric / sewing supplies!
Just my personal preference, but I want my projects done by someone that specializes in framing!!'96: Seattle: Key Arena

Very nice! I love that blue mat, really improves the poster. This artist is somehow not my thing, but you made it look great.cmarch007 said:My Cincinnati poster...
Please, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue! http://community.pearljam.com/discussion/148993/please-pearl-jam-consider-a-vinyl-benaroya-hall-re-issue0 -
Depends on MANY factors...
but I've NEVER been told a frame job was going to run over $400,
let alone the $823 quoted above!!
That's HIGHWAY robbery!!
My most expensive frame job was this Emek AP:
It is a HUGE poster and has 3 levels...
the top level is a suede finish plus it has a serpentine fillet between the bottom & top mattes.
This was just under $400
My Pittsburgh '13 Munk One was around $350 and has 4 levels including 2 different fillets:
There's a "black vinyl" fillet between the black top matte and the yellow second matte around the poster!
This Klausen / Worcester poster was around $250 and has 4 custom cut mattes to match the design of the poster:
Finally, I can get a standard poster in a nice frame for under $100
Hope that answered some of your questions!!

Yeah, thanks. Fuck that is awesome. The Pitt and Klausen are really great frame jobs in totally different ways. Your background really shows in how you design these. Very nice!

You're not getting ripped off at all.

Thanks! I wasn't sure what worked best until we played around with several different options. I agree the poster looks better with the blue.Leezestarr313 said:

Got my Moline poster back today. Usually I take all my stuff to Michaels, but I thought I would support the local economy this time. Cost was about the same, just took 3 times as long. She talked me into an "inverse bevel" cut on the mattes so you wouldn't see any of white core. It adds a little depth element that is growing on me.0

Hey everyone, I have been reading through this thread to get some ideas for a signed Milwaukee poster that I recently won in a charity auction for the EB Foundation....and I am absolutely blown away by how awesome everyone's displays are! My new poster is at the frame shop now, so I'll upload photos here when I get it back....hopefully it looks half as good as some of the displays I have seen in this thread!
In the meantime, though, I'm also looking for some ideas on how to best store and/or display signed books. As part of the same charity auction, I also have a couple of books signed by the band....and I'm not sure of the best way to display them or keep them in tip-top condition. Since the books are signed on the inside, I don't think I can simply place them in a shadow-box display. Here's an example of where they are signed:
So with that said, does anyone have any examples or ideas for something like this?
Thanks for any feedback!!0 -
I really like that Vedder poster... Question for all of you: Does anyone here do their own framing? I have many of my prints that I purchased a frame of equal size and VERY carefully inserted into the frame. I'm posting an example of my Wrigley hot dog.
Whether you do or don't frame any posters this way, does anyone have any reason one shouldn't do this? I've taken posters out of frames that I have done like this and had no problems with them, but I was just wondering any risks associated with this method.
This has allowed me to frame 8 or 9 prints for what it would have cost me to do 1 or 2, so that's why I have done it this way. I definitely appreciate the frame jobs many of you have had done though!0 -
I've had a couple of posters framed over the past couple years, problem is I have more to frame and not enough wall space...the misses doesn't want the whole house taken over, so I'm gaining momentum towards a man cave so I have all the wall space I want lolThe best revenge is to live on and prove yourself - EV0

Those look great, Leash! I especially like the Pittsburgh one! Wall space is always an issue here!
