I really need to start framing these posters...I just wish it didn't cost so much. I've got 6-7 posters just sitting in tubes waiting to be framed.

Thats the worst part, the more they pile up the more its gonna cost. Its to bad they cost so much to frame, but dam do they look good when they are done.

i have tons of these. some are in tubes, others are not... unfortunately i have had no choice in storing them... i never really had the cash to get em framed or found a large enough portfolio book... not that i can really afford it now, but i wanna get them framed before its too late... plus the frame job i got the woman mounted it to the backing

Go to your local frame shop and buy 2 sheets of ACID FREE (preferably Bainbridge Artcare Acid Free) Foamboard. You can store your posters in there... a number of them together. It'll be relatively inexpensive, and will keep them flat.

Just, when unrolling them, be extremely careful, as unrolling them wrong can cause damage to the edges or can put permanent creases in the thick paper.

CJM - Do you have any recommendations for portfolio books? I have more poster than I will probably ever be able (or wife allow) to be put up on display... but I'd like to still be able to "show them off" in an easy way, w/o having people touch them.

Looks great man. Who did you use to frame it?

got it framed at Michaels, got it during one of their 60% off sales, which is the only time i have them do it as it makes it about resonable price wise, I believe this ended up costing between $120 - $140.... i have 5 or 6 framed from Michaels , including the EV chicago and Ament designed Chicago poster, and I have always been happy with how they turn out, and the price paid...

    Absolutely beautiful

Great place in Manchester, MA.....Noreast Frameworks. A bit pricey, but great work.

Coping with the post-tour depression I sprang into action and ordered a kit for my Buffalo 03. I think I might frame one a month for all 19 shows I have been to (Eddie included). I believe the only 2 shows I am missing is one of the Boston 04 VFC warm ups, and MSG I 2010.

I already framed East Rutherford II 06, an EV solo, and Camden I 08. 16 months, 16 posters.

the new Buffalo one will look decent. I chose a gray mat and a simple black metal frame.

Post a pick when you get it done. Not sure how I was going to do my Buffalo poster.

    come on rookies ;)
go to your local arts and craft stores ( michaels, ac moore )
they have sales on frames all the time, usually 50% off i have 6 framed so far they each cost like $10-15 bucks
you have to measure the poster and use the poster insert as your mat,
better yet go to home depot or lowes and build your own frames

I will. Should be next week sometime I bet.

It was on american frame so you cant see with 100% certainty when you are building it. I kept going back and forth with a couple blues similar to the statue of liberty and a few various shades of gray. The gray doesnt really match anything but for some reason it looked sharp to me. Didnt get a 2nd mat because this poster kind of already has a border built in so it looked silly if I added a 2nd mat.

I also tried different mats.... red, black, white, etc and nothing really seemed to look as good as the gray.

Cool, atleast I won't have to spend a ton of time at the framers now, thanks for some of the tips on the matting you checked out. Look forward to seeing it.

Im thinking possibly a single red mat for the MSG II. Kind of simulate the color of an actual arcade game.

I used to have a few PJ posters framed just like that when I only had 2-3.

Having the poster sit on top of the white paper always bugged me though and I eventually saved up the ££££s for a real frame job that fits the size of the poster. Would never go back now.

Having said that I'm going to have 4 new posters this summer and the thought of having to pay the cash for a frame job makes me pretty sad!

There's not really any red in the poster though, I think it would distract your eyes. There's a lot of white border on the poster already so I'm not sure I'd go with a big/bold mat.

It looks cool. I'm not really down with the folded sleeves (was it to save space?), but everything else is awesome.

And here is a close up of the corner of the MSG poster so you can see the color of the mats better because the glare is kind of strong on the other picture.
