how about you transport a band, a crew, and the equipment across the country and get back to me on what is a fair price

I DIDNT SAY THE PRICE WASNT FAIR ...IT WOULD HAVE JUST BEEN NICE TO KNOW HOW MUCH THEY WERE AHEAD OF TIME...

I was for sure it would at least be a hundy.... i just wasnt planning a buck 50 though..... had i KNOWN it was going to be that much... i would have gotten a lil more money together.. or could have done different shows to be more cost effective...

Im sorry pearl jam shows are great but this is bullshit..
Four days notice and then no ticket prices... Kind of takes the fun out of it
Not all of us have mastcards that we can max out!!!! Im not bitching about the price, but they could have least told us ahead of time..

I'm not being an ass to the folks in the South when I say this ... but, we all have to remember ...

$148 in parts of the South can actually seem like more money that say $200 here in San Francisco. Just the way the economies are. The cost inidcies in other parts of the country are far different than where you may live.

    who cares?
$150 for two tickets to sit in the top 30 rows for one of the best live acts going?
c'mon you'll pay $150 (or more) per ticket for the same seats to see most bands in PJ's class
be thankful we're getting a pre-sale at all

  • subscribing to the fact that 'other big bands' are worth what they charge for tickets is just stupid...so why relate pj tickets to that to begin with?

pj was always great because they different were in that respect, kept the frills to a minimum and gave us value. $75 for an ampitheatre in buttsuck florida, that's a tough one...i'll be there, don't get me wrong.

the only difference is that this time, I actually stopped and thought about more than once. i haven't changed, so....

I know I was going threw some stuff and found my copies of my money orders for Alpine, Indy, and Chicago 2003. No matter seeing PJ is still a great bargain. :D
  • I just looked up the price on the ticket stub for my first show in 1998:

    Base Price: $18.00
    Service Fee: $3.80
    Grand Total: $21.80

$21.80 hardly buys you two beers at the venue these days. God I miss the '90s.

I still remember $23 tickets in 1998. So if Pearl Jam keeps tripling prices every ten years, are we looking forward to a Rolling Stones like $240 a ticket per show for their 25th anniversary tour. ;)

who cares... ill tell you who..Me! Considering they gave us four days notice (i get paid first of the month, like most people) So i had to do some wheeling and dealing..... I knew that msg was gonna be pricey ... Just didnt think that the florida shows would be 75 a pop

I would never spend 150 a pair to see ANY other band other than pearl jam, Its silly...... Had pearl jam not roped me in in early years with decent concert prices and awesome music.. i wouldnt be in this situation :P

Would people prefer they try and get corporate sponsership for their tours and thus reduce the ticket cost?

Last month I paid $77 for a ticket to see Radiohead in May and I'm not in RH's fan club.

I'm sure PJ/10c is doing what they can but I'm just sayin...
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Ahhhh....the home run king. I miss him too.

And I bet he would pay $150 for PJ tickets.

I miss the old days when a coke cost a nickel and a dimebag cost a dime. You know how much condoms used to cost? I don't know we never used them.

dude if you cant pull 150 dollars Without a credit card in 4 days notice

    you need serious financial help!

  • whatever formula you are using is not accurate. my home has doubled in price in 8 years. had i sold it 2 years ago, it would have been more than doubled. you cannot base price increases on inflation alone.

their tickets are still much less than most other bands.

*however* I am still trying to figure out how the Foo Fighters pulled off $59 per ticket at Madison Square Garden just last month.....

That your home doubled in value has more to do with the housing market, not inflation. My formula is correct. Money today is about twice what it was in 1985.

now that is a way to look at it positively!

seriously i would be more pissed if i forked out the money for Bonnaroo and then these east coast opportunities came up
  • NOCODE#1 wrote:

Hey, bud, that's where PJ got its start. There's a band called mewithoutYou that plays clubs and small theaters and is probably the second best live band out there, now that Sleater-Kinney's hanged it up.

Are you fucking high? There are tons of acts worth seeing under $70. Maybe one day you leave your little secluded world of mainstream music and open your ears to bands not named "Pearl Jam". Sorry you never saw PJ in a club.

I got to agree here ... I'd say >95% of all shows I go to are in clubs / smaller venues. There is so much good music out there. You're missing a lot if you don't check it out.

PJ is special, one of the (VERY) few acts I'd actually brave an arena to see in that type of venue ...

There are really only a few bands that I'll see in an arena. Phish, Pearl Jam, and Tom Petty, and Clapton ... maybe a few more, but not many. There is so much better music out there than most of the crap that plays large venues.
