Just wanting to see if anybody is interested in the group hotel thing. I believe pearljgrl2010 was going to look into group rates, but maybe we should figure out how many in the group.

I think it would be fun to stay in a hotel with bunches of fans and hanging out for acouple days together meeting people and stumbling around LA.

Yup, I'm working on it...it looks like we might be able to get group rates if we have 10+ rooms, so I think JamBayLeaf is right, if we can get a tentative idea of how many rooms we'll need, we might be on to something...

I sent you an email tonight to the email address you posted on the other thread. So I would be interested in any group hotel idea.

  • Wiltern is in a crappy area. I would recommend that you find a hotel in the greater LA area, where there is other stuff to do in addition to the concert. Then, get a cab or whatever to go to the Wiltern.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

wiltern is kind of a shit area for hotels.... I'm sure the list of people going will increase after the TM sales....

I was thinking just staying at a LAX hotel if I don't stay with friends.... it's not that far....

unless you get a ride that's a heafty cab fare....:)

there is a subway stop at the wiltern (yes la has a subway) and it goes from downtown so you might want to consider staying there as there are more and better hotels downtown than whats around the wiltern....:)

Same Subway line goes to universal studios. Great hotels there and more to do than downtown. Downtown LA is dead. Just offices. Not like midtown Manhattan. Don't expect that.

I think you're right...not the greatest of areas. The beach areas are great, more to do, but farther away...

Have you taken the train or know (offhand) how late it runs back? I haven't taken any public transportation in LA...so I need to do my homework!

Santa Monica would be great. I was planning on watching the Red Sox Yankees game the Friday between the shows at Sonny MClean's - the big Red Sox bar out on Wilshire in Santa Monica.

santa monica would be the place to stay (a little pricey) but no subway from there.....either cabs or rental cars (buses too).....i'm just thinking about how to keep prices down.....staying at universal city and taking the train to the wiltern sounds like the easiest....that or downtown....

the wilshire plaza is good....downtown, close to the venue.....where is the courtyard located?

the wilshire plaza is near the Wiltern, so is the Ramada Inn...
I was looking at the Ramada, but since a few of us are thinking that a different are might be better, I'm looking twd Santa Monica-ish...

I definitely do not want to stay in any not so great areas. This will be my first time to LA, so I want to experience it fully, however, I don't want to spend a ton, either. If I need to spend more to get a hotel in a great location, so be it.

that's farther away then the plaza....but you are renting a car....culver city is closer to santa monica and venice so if you are here for the weekend that might be the better place to stay....

i guess if one is coming just for the shows and aren't concerned about what to do during downtime, i'd say universal city or downtown......if you want to do things i suggest santa monica/westside... more to do and see out there..:)
