Man, shocked to wake up to this news. Hard to imagine (no pun intended) seeing a Pearl Jam show without Matt behind the kit. I hope everything is ok with him and family. Thanks for the music Matt!!! Hope to see you play again in some other way someday.

I don’t think Dave Krusen is doing much these days since his recent run with Candlebox. Let’s give him another shot!

Maybe he decided to reform his Kiss cover band.
    This weekend we rock Portland
  • Thank you Sea for the reminder. It's also important that we apply these principles in all our affairs.

Odd if it's SG, as their 2010-2017 reunion didn't seem to interfere with PJ at all.

Perhaps Josh Klinghoffer could fill in on an interim basis if needed.

Agreed, not to mention the hiatus PJ's currently on would give him all the time in the world to spend on SG related work.

I have to think the grind of being a professional musician for 4 decades has finally caught up with him. PJ clearly isn't done just yet, and I'm thinking he's giving them the opportunity to close out their career on their terms, rather than be saddled w/ a member who's not all in anymore.

I'm sure he has other projects he wants to work on, and will stay relevant in music... it will be very interesting to see where things go from here.

    MFC 😢

    Couple of things…
First of all I hope he is healthy.
Second is I have a gut feeling he’s going to do something with Soundgarden (which I can’t imagine that band using a different singer).
Third, there’s zero chance they use Dave A again. Not happening. Klinghoffer is not a true drummer. Also not happening. The most logical move is Dave K, Stuverud or Jack Irons.

Anyway, thanks for all the years Matt!  All the shows, albums and awesome music!  End of an era. Hope to see PJ again on tour with whatever direction they choose

The replacement has to be in the circle of history of the band or it won’t really work… only outsider I can see pulling it off is Chad Smith, and he’s in Ed’s solo project.

    Thanks so much Matt

for some of us over sixty, we get it. No matter how much exercise or vitamins, sometimes there is no arguing with Father Time. Kudos to those who can delay the inevitable slowing down.

edit, unless he resigned to reform a new soundgarden lol. One can always hope.

Not that there's any reason they have to, BUT, If they were going to go with someone from their past, I'm thinking Matt Chamberlain is the only one who could adequately fill in at this point.

I don't know that Krusen or Irons would be up to the challenge now, and the idea of Dave A making a return is just laughable.

Chad playing pearl jam songs will be like when Stewart Copeland drummed in Doors 2000.  His funk and the pocket in why go do not mesh.

I promise you all... the history of the band can be honored with an outsider bringing a style heavily influenced by decades of being a fan of the band.

this maybe fills in some blanks around the various comments Ed was making at several DM shows like 'don't know when we'll be able to this again' etc...

I wondered if something was going on. I posted on a FB fan site that at one of the Raleigh shows Eddie was saying something like a goodbye. I can't remember the exact words. But then stopped speaking quickly after he said it. I thought it was odd. Someone replied to me saying he/she heard it too.
