Why is Ohana so behind the times?

As you can see from the replies, Americans love their meat. I think OP makes a valid point.
agreed. and some just like to pile on. I mean, there's one guy that bitches every single time the swede posts anything, and continuously tells HIM to get a life, and everyone who doesn't applaud every single thing the band does. pot/kettle.
All u do is kiss that guys ring and defend him like he’s your kid. It’s odd. Very odd. The guy is a complainer and if he keeps posting his complaints well then he’s free game to reply to. No one asked him to post all his grievances with everything pj does but if he does then it’s free game to reply. Maybe you two are the same person, wouldn’t surprise me at all to be honest. Now go eat your veggies.
it's not about him. If it really odd how no one is allowed to question anything this band does without you attacking them.

winnipeg and sweden are pretty far apart. maybe geography isn't your strong suit.

Has anyone asked Eddie about this? Visiting this last fall and having a greeeeeeeeeeat time seeing Neil Young, I was very surprised by how dreadfully meat-focused the festival was. Barely anything vegetarian to choose from at all. It's easy to stand on stage and talking about whales and the ocean and showing a video about the planet with Pearl Jam music as the soundtrack, but Eddie and the festival doesn't walk the talk at all. It was quite a disgraceful sight.

Compare this to Sweden's most famous/mainstream music festival Way out West (where Neil Young also has cancelled a gig - so let's refer to it as a sister festival):

The festival is vegetarian and has been completely meat free and largely dairy free since 2012.
During 2019 year’s festival, the carbon footprint from an average meal was 0,38 kg CO2e, which is below WWF’s One Planet Plate recommendation of 0,5 kg CO2e. We also CO2e marked the menus at the festival so you could easily make a decision when you wanted to eat and drink. The meat and dairy industry accounts for 14,5% of the greenhouse gas emissions globally*, which exceeds the emissions from the transport sector (cars, boats, trains, planes, others). By becoming vegetarian we lowered our emissions by 40% – and 15% of the festival’s visitors say they eat more veggie food after they’ve been to Way Out West. Yay!

TLDR: Way out West Festival which is Sweden's most mainstream music festival and brings 70.000 people in, is all vegetarian.

Even "Sweden Rock" with 170.000 of these types of people have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options:

And today this popped up in my feed:

And where does this environmental-focused Eddie stand with his festival? A bunch of basic food trucks with pretty much nothing vegetarian and with seemingly no pro-active take on what is being served at the festival. because being pro-active about the planet means vegetarian options.

Let's all collectively just say: Yuck.
I found the way McCartney forced his veganism on everyone else on the tour nauseating.
Neil doesn't force veganism, but he does force organics - I overlooked this at a show we saw on his Coastal tour. I take my 8yo daughter to most every show I go to, and we saw him again last spring on his tour with Crazy Horse. My daughter happens to like ice cream, so we went to the food vendors to get her some. Despite having a freezer full, that we could see right there in front of us, they couldn't sell them because they weren't organic. Drinks of all varieties, sure, but not an ice cream pouch.

Show was awesome, but I'll be forever chaffed because of that. It's not easy to explain to an 8yo why she can't have an ice cream.

I went in 2021 and the alcohol prices were pretty crazy as well.

And the drinks were weak. They literally had guards making sure the bartenders did not overpour. Even if you threw in a nice tip. We snuck in Titos nips after the first day.
LOL! If I ever come to Ohana I'll look for you to hook me up!

it's just not feasible in north america. we're a very meat-centric region, and likely would have a lot of trouble selling tickets to a festival in the states with only vegan options. or even mostly vegan. I found the way McCartney forced his veganism on everyone else on the tour nauseating.
    Paul McCartney is not vegan.
In any case, you should go to the biggest vegfests (eg Toronto). They are extremely popular and packed to the rafters.

This happened at our local show too. It's a big venue in the middle of concert season so they don't clear out the non-approved stuff. They'll be selling it all the next night. Selfishly, the rules resulted in a much better beer selection.

At least 50% of veg fest goers aren't vegan. It's about the joy of discovery.

My wife and I always hit up Active Culture in Laguna right before we go to the festival and that holds us over until about right before the early evening act. As a vegan, I thought there were way more choices than pretty much any other festival or event you go to packed with vendors. A lot of the vendors served an array of options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike. Probably helps that I am ok flexing my diet to just vegetarian when the options aren't sufficient. Often times you can ask them to omit the cheese if you really want (sure, there may be butter, fish oil or other animal biproducts in the ingredients, but it's insignificant). I tend to fall in the belief that I am eating food that was already prepared anyway so it's not like me avoiding a dairy item at things like that is saving the world from the industrial meat and dairy operations. It's easy enough to avoid meat. Been doing that for 14 years. A little cheese and butter every now and then won't kill me and I'm clear about that when people ask me about what they can make if I'm hanging out at their place. Anything without meat and I'll make it work.

Like others have mentioned, the prices are the only slap in the face, but that's pretty standard these days at concerts and sports events. I think our Kona tallboys were $13 each last time. We also wrap up a few things in some extra layers in our clear bags to snack on when needed. Usually holds us over pretty well for the day.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I have only been once, in 2021. I seem to recall a couple of vegan options. Maybe it was just hummus, fries, and pizza with fake cheese. If you want to eat or use the facilities GO EARLY. By 5pm the lines were long for everything. A half rack of ribs and a strong drink at the Rib Joint after the festival never tasted so good.
2021 was the GOAT. Beck in to PJ at encore was one of the best nights I've had at a concert. My wife and I look back fondly at that year. The weather was fantastic and people were still spacing because of Covid so we had a ton of room. I still remember the lady next to me staring at me as I recited the lyrics to Loser by Beck. She was in shock
