Bruce Willis is showing his appreciation for those keeping everyone in Los Angeles safe during the wildfires.
In a recent Instagram post shared by his wife, Emma Heming, the 69-year-old actor appears in a black and white video shaking hands and having a conversation with Los Angeles Police officers with the Led Zeppelin song "Going to California" playing in the background.
"Spotting a first responder, Bruce never missed a chance to show his gratitude with a heartfelt handshake and a 'thank you for your service,'" Heming captioned the post. "Yesterday was no different."
Wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap and a light jacket over his black shirt and jeans, Willis also posed for photos with the officers.
The "Die Hard" star was making a rare public appearance since announcing his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in 2023.
"This makes my heart so freaking full," his daughter, Tallulah Willis, wrote in the comments section, adding a heart emoji.
Willis' wife, Heming, has been open about how the disease has affected not only Willis, but the spouse of someone diagnosed with dementia.
She recently shared an emotional post marking her 17th wedding anniversary with Willis featuring a photo of the two of them smiling as they embraced on a beach in Turks and Caicos.
In the post, she reflected on how her feelings about celebrating the special day have changed since he received his diagnosis, writing that while the day "used to bring excitement," now it leaves her with "a heaviness in my heart and a pit in my stomach."
"I give myself 30 minutes to sit in the ‘why him, why us,’ to feel the anger and grief," she wrote in the caption. "Then I shake it off and return to what is. And what is… is unconditional love. I feel blessed to know it, and it’s because of him. I’d do it all over again and again in a heartbeat."
Heming and Willis first met in 2007 and stepped out for the first time as a couple in 2008, tying the knot in March 2009 at a ceremony in Turks and Caicos.
Since getting married, they have welcomed two daughters, Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10. Their two daughters join Willis' three older daughters from his previous marriage to actress Demi Moore: Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30.
Moore and Willis were married for 13 years, from 1987 to 2000, and they have remained good friends and co-parents since their divorce, often spending holidays, birthdays and other important days together."What I say to my kids is you meet them where they’re at. You don’t hold on to who they were or what you want them to be, but who they are in this moment," Moore said on "The Drew Barrymore Show" in September 2024 about the advice she gives her daughters about their father's condition.
"And, from that, there is such beauty and joy and loving and sweetness."
She added, "When I’m in L.A., I go over every week, and I really treasure the time that we all share."

It's the right thing for me to do. When I first came here, there was a lot of great discussion. The vibe was positive and most of the people were friendly. But over the years, it's become more and more caustic, especially with the infiltration of bating, low bar, moronic trolls whose prime objective is patterned after their so-called "hero", the object being to tear things down and create chaos. And most of all, I do not like how I have allowed myself be dragged down to what I see as a pointless and base level, and become complicit in the toxic interactions here, and thus become someone I am neither happy with, nor proud of. I need to use the quickly dissipating time that is my life to do something more useful, and joy filled, and creative. If I can find my way back to the better person I know I can be, and if things start looking up here again, I may return some day. It's possible, and I will lurk from time to time and see how it goes. But one thing for sure, if the endless negative, bating, bickering, pointless quarreling, and especially the childish trolling continues to characterize this place, I will have to keep my distance. This has not been an easy decision. At these free shops in L.A., fire victims can pick up new clothes and ‘a bit of happiness’
Jan. 15, 2025 5:04 PMIn the outpouring of community support that has swelled with the L.A. fires, several “free shops” have popped up around Southern California. These are places where victims can shop for new and gently used clothes, shoes, accessories, essentials, toys and more, all free of charge. Some are set up like boutiques — shoppers can sift through thoughtfully curated racks of items, from puffer jackets to denim, and be assisted by volunteer stylists.
“They’ve already been through enough,” says Melynda Choothesa, owner of Quirk in downtown Los Angeles, which is hosting a free boutique that’s stocked with both basics and vintage gems.
She says she wants to create an honorable and beautiful experience for guests, adding, “They don’t need to feel like they are some charity case.” For survivors who’ve lost their beloved belongings, routine acts such as picking out new clothes can help them gain a sense of stability.
Here’s a list of free shops that have recently opened. If you’re looking to donate items, check with each project for specific guidelines.

The lineup for the FireAid benefit concert, a musical event set up to aid the relief efforts following the deadly and devastating Los Angeles wildfires, has been announced.
Among the artists who are performing at the concert are native Angelenos Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Gracie Abrams, along with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Pink, Gwen Stefani, Tate McRae, Earth, Wind & Fire, Green Day, Jelly Roll, Joni Mitchell, Lil Baby, Rod Stewart, Sting, Stephen Stills and Stevie Nicks. Dave Matthews and John Mayer will also be performing, together for the first time.
The performances will take place on January 30 at two venues, the Kia Forum and the new Intuit Dome, both located in the Los Angeles city of Inglewood.
Additional artists and special guests will be announced in the coming days, according to a news release.
Viewers around the world will be able to watch, stream and make contributions to FireAid on several platforms including Apple Music, Apple TV, Max, KTLA+, Netflix/Tudum, Paramount+, Prime Video and more. The concert will also be broadcast on 860 iHeartRadio radio stations.
FireAid will raise money “for rebuilding communities devastated by wildfires and supporting efforts to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California,” according to the release.
Contributions will be distributed under the advisement of the Annenberg Foundation, which will “help coordinate a team to direct funds for the greatest impact” and provide “short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters.”
Several deadly wildfires set Los Angeles County ablaze last week, with the sprawling city on Thursday finally seeing relief with calmer winds. The coastal Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, on the east side of LA, have burned tens of thousands of acres and destroyed thousands of structures. At least 25 people have died and dozens are still missing, authorities have said.Tickets for both concerts will go on sale on January 22 at 12 p.m. PDT on Ticketmaster.

‘Beacon of hope’
In one of the most striking images to emerge from the unfolding tragedy of the Los Angeles wildfires, a bright blue vintage Volkswagen van stands out miraculously untouched amid the destruction in Malibu.
The van’s owner, surf and skateboard designer Megan Krystle Weinraub, says her friends have always referred to the lucky vehicle as “the magic bus.”
“I just can’t believe that … my bus is the only thing that survived on the street that I walked by with my dog like every single day,” she told CNN’s Erin Burnett. “I’m speechless to see all the houses burnt, and I can’t believe that Azul the bus — that’s what we named it — survived,” she said.
The 1977 van, which she named after the Spanish word for “blue,” was previously owned by her friend Preston Martin, who lived in it for a year. The pair had gone surfing in the iconic leisure wagon the Sunday before the fires erupted, parking it in the Malibu neighborhood, reported The Associated Press.
“It’s so cool that it’s become this, like, beacon of hope,” Martin said. “Everything around it was toasted, just destroyed. And then here’s this bright blue shiny van, sitting right there,” Martin told AP.
Trippy.

We had many rebel rousers years ago (my few hands comes to mind, many others). Perhaps the sting currently is how bad tomorrow noon will be. It’s infuriating the events that lead to tomorrow, but it is what it is.
