TM just told me these blocks are permanent. At least mine is. They said it was for a violation of terms of service. They won’t tell me which term it was. There are only two in there I can think of that I may have violated without realizing. One is refreshing faster than every three seconds including going back and forth between one and two tickets. The other is having more than 1000 clicks in a 24 hour period. I know that sounds like a lot but when you are moving between 1 and 2 tickets the clicks add up fast. They said I can open a new account but that really sucks. I have had this account for as long as they have had online purchases. They are blocking us but the bots keep getting through.
Sorry to hear this but thank you for this info and the heads up. Echo all the comments about this being ridiculous especially the 3-second or less refreshes and 1000 click/day quota. But to then permanently ban your TM account for one violation going forward - WTH?!?!
If you create a new account, do your tickets from the old account transfer to the new one? I sure hope so. What a cluster.
That's a good question (do tickets from old account transfer to the new one?)
My guess is no since it's not the same account.
But your tickets should still be your tickets, and TM should not deny you your tickets.
What a Gong show.
The tickets don't transfer but you can still access your tickets through the old account. You just have to buy new tickets on the new account. So, if we can just buy tickets on the new account anyway, what is the point of closing the old account. As I mentioned before, I think they want to create the illusion that they are closing all the bot accounts - even though most of them are not bots. It looks good for their numbers of closed accounts or something. Who knows.

That is awful and I'm sorry to hear! Does this mean you can't: 1) access your existing tickets; and 2) sell any spares via Fan to Fan??
Thanks. The whole thing sucks. I was told that I will continue to have access to my account to manage any existing tickets, but will need to create a new account to purchase new tickets. So, if I can buy tickets with a new account anyway, what is the purpose of blocking my existing account. It makes no sense to me at all.
I am also in TM jail and chatted with them now. They said their Technical dept would unlock my account in 3-5 business days. Holding my breath...
I was told that as well. However, maybe it depends on what they think you did. I asked them to tell me what they think I did but no response. So, my guess was clicking through the site too fast or too often. I was originally told I had too much activity - so that is what I assume. I think they want to say they are doing something about bots - like saying look how many accounts we shut down this year. But they are shutting down the accounts of regular people, while the bots continue to wreak havoc.
I don’t think Ticketmaster is trying to lock out accounts of actual customers. I’m guessing it’s an unintended consequence of trying to weed out the real problem accounts. I’m also guessing that this issue has not reached the ears of the people who matter and can actually make a decision. So the issue hasn’t been corrected yet and people will continue to get locked out. The whole “make a new account” advice is probably just a workaround that the people who answer the phones have figured out to try and help people.

Mine was escalated to a tech person who emailed me on Saturday. He asked for my IP address and the error message I was getting and asked me questions like if I used multiple devices at once, or if I used any software that automatically fills out web forms, or if I went over any ticket limits, etc. All of my responses were truthfully no. Then today I got an email saying I violated terms of service (without telling me which term) and my account would be permanently blocked from purchasing tickets. But I could create a new account to purchase tickets. Anyway, good luck to all who are presently blocked. I hope they are just temporary. Keep us posted.
I was temp blocked back in May when trying to upgrade Seattle tickets. Said my account was showing bot like behavior and violated the terms of service but couldn’t tell me what I had done wrong. I’m guessing it was refreshing too often, and jumping back and forth between the two Seattle shows. Spoke to a person and said I’m a real dude just trying to buy tickets, and that I’ve bought and used hundreds of tickets before and that they should be able to see that but they still wouldn’t remove the block. Somehow the block ended up being removed when I traveled to a new city (on my way to Seattle) so there might be some kind of link between the account and IP service area. It’s really a pain in the ass and no one from Ticketmaster can even help you. There really needs to be more transparency to the whole thing.

Yeah. Earlier this year it was connected to your IP address. If you got blocked on that, you still could log in using cellular or a different wifi. But now it appears that they changed it to the account level. If you are blocked now you can't access your account from wifi, cellular or a different wifi. I think that is a recent change. Or maybe as someone mentioned above, they may have different levels of blocks.
My new TM account is all set up and my tickets are still in my other account - so I guess that is the solution if you get blocked. I was able to look for tickets with the new account. You need to sign up for a new account with a different email so I just created a new gmail account that I will just use for TM I guess. What a pain.
It's too late now but for Gmail you can add a "." anywhere before the @gmail to create a new forward facing email that still goes to the same Gmail. It's just a way to have multiple email addresses without actually having to deal with multiple inboxes. Outlook lets you create aliases.

That’s really frustrating. It seems like they are using a one size fits all approach to trying to weed out scalpers and motivated fans are getting caught up in it. Hopefully someone makes an adjustment to their process soon.

BRING BACK THE SECONDARY MARKET. What a trash system this is. Real fans getting their accounts permanently locked? Gtfoh
I think I hear a broken record. Also, news flash: the secondary market is alive and well.
Cool….. you seem to snatch tickets constantly. So it works for you. I could never sit and refresh all day.
Any ticketing system is going to have aspects people don't like. If they bring back the secondary market, whatever that means to you, plenty of people will say that's trash as well. I don't see the point in complaining about it constantly. All anyone can really do is try to make the best of it. If you don't like it, don't participate.

@nicknyr15 you must know that a band's forum is not the appropriate place to vent. Please stick to wishing Ed a happy birthday and praise TM's ability to share your confidential information

I can’t participate even if I wanted to. And you know full well what that means. Make tickets fully transferable. End of story.

Yup. If your email is Shaindli1@gmail.com you can use S.haindli1@gmail.com and it gets delivered to the same inbox. To Google it’s the same email. To TM (or any place else) it should look like a different email.

To be fair, there is a dedicated complaint thread. Festivus would be a perfect time to air some F2F grievances 😀

A couple of years ago Ticketmaster took over control of the paid U2 fan club. The mods on the forum are pretty active in bringing problems to their attention. They have more pull than a single rando complaining to TM directly. It would be nice if this forum had the same pull especially for something like these bans. PJ should have enough influence to have then revoked. Hell I'd volunteer to collect the info.
Checked em out just to see what an active link looks like. They were cartable. I’ve watched 4 seats in 215 & 4 in 216 sell in less than 60 seconds today. Even the worst seats aren’t sitting.

So they did not go into your cart automatically when you clicked on the link?

No, there was a button at the bottom. First time I’ve looked at an active link personally so not sure if this is typical or not.

Damn that's crazy. They never enforced any of those before. Maybe this will be like survivor. Last to get blocked gets rewarded
It's definitely crazy. So be careful out there. I am going to open a new account, but am terrified to even buy a ticket.
That is total crap

A low level, TM support agent having a clue what is happening with your account doesn’t add up.. We’ve all been bottled before. I’d be surprised if your account isn’t operational again in a few days.

This is the perfect reply to the "stop complaining" scolders on the Forum.
The band decided to hand off a lot of the mechanics of the lottery and ticket sale processes to tickmaster, and basically have washed their hands of the process, with zero oversight and zero input and zero communication with the fans.
Removing priority, without disclosing to their paying members the full ramifications has Amplified pain among the fan base. It Appears to have maximized the number of tickets per winning draw and maximize the number of 10 club members who get completely shut out each Lottery
So as a result scalpers have taken over the fan to Fan process and nobody in management seems to care.
There's got to be a hundred solutions out there. Why not bring back a verified fan process, and put the F2F tickets in a weekly completely automated and computerized Lottery?once we get a couple of weeks to show dates remove the lottery process so tickets can be sold immediately.
It doesn't even have to be a true lottery. 10 club members and other fans put in a claim for a specific show and get assigned a random code and win based on the lowest code number each week. This can be done automatically when f2f tickets are uploaded for sale
