It's not limited to PJ. Tax law if you receive over $600 in payments (regardless of profit) they have to report it to the IRS although the rule has been postponed a few times in recent years.

$5000 for '24, $2500 for '25 and $600 for subsequent years

Not to get you worried but that is happening to me while I’m still in TM jail. I tried to by tickets to another event with a lot less demand at a The Ritz in Raleigh and I can’t continue because of it. I can’t even search while logged in.
Other sellers get an email from Ticketmaster to fill out 1099 details? is this legit?
Yes it is. If you make a profit of more than $600 you have to report on your taxes. If it’s a wash then no income tax on it.
Wait. How is that legit? I thought you weren't allowed to profit off of PJ tix. Hmm
Any total sales (not profit) that exceed $600 get reported
Well if you sold a pair at face value, it would not fall into this category, so why are people being tasked to complete this step? You don't get 1099'd on anything else int he world unless you actually hit the threshold. Seems like just another scam to screw over the fans while helping the bots.

Go to your account profile and see what your payment options are. When they closed my account they removed the saved credit card that was there and replaced it with a red box that said application error. Maybe they always do that when there is some type of account pause.

It's based on sales. Everything falls into that category. Even if you lost money. It's based on tax laws, not everything is a scam. How exactly does that help bots?
On the one hand, I’m bummed because I’m not likely to hit any of these shows, if I do, it will be a last minute decision. On the other, I’m really glad I don’t have to desperately spend hours on this.
Good luck everyone trying. Wishing for you all to find excellent tickets w/o much hassle.

Strange, My "jail" seems to work differently.. last year I would search for a few hours and then the captcha would start to come up, I would slide the puzzle and continue.. it would show up faster and faster until I would get paused for a a few hours. It would usually clear twice a day around 2pm ( PST) and 6pm..
This year, the search map would go all gray and list would seem to stop refreshing. I would refresh the whole page and I would get the message as if the show is sold out. If I refreshed 5-6 times that would clear and I could search again. That would act like the captcha of last year and would increase frequency...

And if you potential sales do not hit the threshold, then filling out tax info is irrelevant and unnecessary. While the seller is being held up, the tickets are sitting in limbo which everyone knows 100% that the bots have the advantage and already have them locked in. Again, the entore process has become a joke and quite hypocritical. In no way does the fan base or 10c benefit on any level. Its just all talk. I mean, if in 30 years they cannot figure out how to coordinate simple merch tents into anything but a complete debacle, why would they be able to figure out how to sell 18k tickets to a standard venue without it being a shit show?

You can make a profit just you have to pay taxes on the profit. Not specific to PJ or tickets in general. It applies to everything from EBay to Esty to garage sales. Even if you hire someone and pay them more than $600 over a year you have to report . Technically it’s been on the books forever. Three years ago Congress reduced the reporting threshold to $600 from $20,000. They have just been introducing it in stages. I think this year the threshold is $5000.

Ditto. I noticed before I was going to buy tickets. Tried to by tickets to see what would happen. Answer: nothing. It asked to add payment which it would not let me do.
So how many people here are in TM jail. I think about a dozen have commented? You have to figure the total has to be in the hundreds if not thousands across the country just from PJ.

TM's tax reporting = PJ merch tents. Makes sense
Yep. Everything they touch, turns to sh!t. Try to keep up, kid.
Something going wrong today? Blame it on the bots. Didn’t get what you wanted for Christmas? Blame it on the bots! Someone ate the last piece of cheesecake? Must have been the bots. Hungover from too much egg nog? It’s the bots!!!

You do realize PJ doesn't run TM? They are a tiny fraction of TM's events. Every company that pays out for sales has to do this. Ebay stubhub paypal etc. PJ has nothing to do with it.
It also doesn't hold the tickets in limbo. You can sell without filling out the form. You just need to fill it out before they send payment.

That was stage one for me and then it went pear shaped while trying to coordinate a drop with a fellow poster. Usually if you get that sold out waiting 30 seconds clears it. I actually didn’t refresh much but I guess switching between one ticket and one two counts. I guess my down fall was that F2F opened when I had free time. A week before or a week after and I won’t have the time.
Just out of curiosity has anyone here been able to buy anything on F2F yet for 2025 without using a direct link from the seller? I’m 0/5 so far.
No. I have tried to add probably 15 pairs of tickets to my cart that all were "not available" after I clicked on them. Maybe 3 of those pairs I made it to payment screen but then still got the "not available" message. Have only had success with a direct link.

Beware those $600 Pitt 1s.
