Anybody ever notice how angry and hostile Trump fans are these days, even after their crazy man won the election? It's not surprising, really. We all know what a shit show the next four years will be. It's all just a game to the Dictator and his Ambassador of Chaos. And many of the people who voted for him know or at least deep down know that they were duped, or at the very least are beginning to understand that. But of course they won't admit it to anyone, least of all themselves. So they do their best to keep pushing false narratives, and try their best to believe they made the right choice. But eventually the cracks begin to show and they just get frustrated and angry.
It would just be so much simpler to admit when you messed up and learn from the situation. I've always found that's the best thing to do anyway.
And hey, let's be fair, everyone could use to do that. Democrats could do better too. The whole country is going down like the Titanic. Its time to stop fucking around and get serious about righting this ship.
1. People would rather be right than be righteous 2. Undue thought control can occur to anyone by appealing to various elements of a person (fear, racism, greed, wealth, homogeny in society, etc), and it's a fallacy that only the foolish can be fooled 3. Due to polarization, people have inherent distrust of those with other beliefs to their own, and discourse is limited to echo chambers or conversations with trolls, hence no minds are swayed 4. There is no desire to think long-term, nor is there political incentive to act in long-term ways 5. Corruption masks itself as stupidity, and stupidity masks itself as corruption.
I don't believe there are cracks appearing, I believe this has been one of the best propaganda efforts probably since the Nazis, and it has worked on an alarming number of people. I'm a nihilist at this point, and don't feel you can fix widespread epidemics of apathy, greed, indecency, or corruption - especially when they're all present at the same time.
We need to learn to enjoy our local lives, because as you zoom out to a global scale, problems become more unsolvable. At least locally, we have the illusion of some control, and can choose to move towards decency.
PS - yes, I compared Trump's administration's behaviours to Nazis; and no, I don't care if anyone thinks that's an exaggeration
Agreed...my opinion is that trump is an anomaly...he's an actor and arguably the best actor we've ever come across because he has been able to convince people that he is a leader, that he is religious, that he has morals, that he loves our country, etc.
And that he’s “tough.” Because nothing says “tough” like snapping your suit jacket and pushing people out of the way. Plus, he’s the epitome of fitness. He had a doctor’s note stating such.

That's why it's hilarious that the GOP house (38 of them at least) basically said "fuck you" and didn't pay attention to his demand that the debt ceiling be extended to 2029 or they would risk being primaried. What a fat douche.

I agree that there is little we can do to fix these issues, Ben, and I am highly doubtful the human race will ever completely rid itself of apathy, greed,
indecency, and corruption, but I do believe that when those issues become epidemic as they are now, circumstances caused by the chaos they procure will eventually and inevitably lead to a shifting back to a better balance of less chaos and better times. I'm doubtful I will live to see that happen, but I'm also nearly old enough to have seen the cycle. Hitler and then the McCarthy era happened not many years before I was born, and then a better balance was created and, though far from perfect, we had some great years. And now we are in the age of MAGA where hate and greed, and indecency, and corruption rule the day. But the cycle will continue and there will be better times. Stay strong and look toward those time and be a part of the change. Don't give up, Ben. Don't let this period of time kill your spirit. Look at history and be hopeful. I can see by this...
"We need to learn to enjoy our local lives, because as you zoom out to a
global scale, problems become more unsolvable. At least locally, we have
the illusion of some control, and can choose to move towards decency."
...that you already posses some of that hope. Well done.

"Yessir good Captain Paul, this day is about done. Gotta admit though... haha! you being called a MAGA... cracked me up, hahaha!"

Podesta/Clinton? I don't know why you think this meme is either relevant or mildly convincing of anything.
Modern arguments are so trite and fucking stupid, using memes to make a point. It's a sign of how pathetic our culture has become. And usually older generations blame the "young", but that's not really the case. Everyone's brains are going to mush at this point and old fucks are just as blame-worthy. Try to be better and make your case with, you know, actual thoughts and words.

The DOGE is going to be led by two people who have long been addicted to the smell of their own farts. Most of MAGA still is trying their best to sniff and will probably praise them when they fire 1 million people on day one but eventually, I hope their arrogance will catch up with him… Particularly Elon, who if he isn’t cast away, will essentially be dictator.
