Taunting Ted Nugent was awesome. The people behind me deciding it was ok to chat through most of the main set were not. Others' quibbles have some merit; those things might have kept the show from being truly transcendent, but they hardly detracted from it.

I would much rather have heard Growin Up with those 2.5 minutes.
Who were the guests that came on for RITFW? I saw a pic of John Krasinski and someone with a beard next to him (Justin Theroux ?? not sure). Love the pic of Tuuka and PK.

Rock solid show for my 25th. My only gripe is Fenway itself. It's not built really for anything anymore. I can understand the allure of the 2016 shows and playing there for the first time but I would much rather see them in an arena which is built for concerts. I've been to all five shows there (tomorrow will be six) and have sat all over the ballpark and there is a distinct difference from being on the right field side and the left field side. When I've been on the right field side, it sounds great. When I'm on the left field side, there is a reverberation that comes from the PA system facing the home plate or somewhere in that vicinity. It's hard to explain but it's there. I know it's the venue and not the band because they sound the same every time I seen them, everywhere I've gone. The tone they possess is epic. I wish they would not play Fenway anymore, but I understand why they do it.
I wonder if it has to do with the asymmetry of the park. The left field grandstands are shorter and sort of curl around the field more than right field, which is longer and more flat. I was in the left field loge boxes last night, and there was definitely a lot of reverb last night. Ear plugs helped, but not as much at some other venues. I will be interested to see what tomorrow is like, as we're on the right field side.
That's what I'm thinking. It's really noticeable to me with the drums. If there's a good pop on the snare drum, you can hear almost a split second later out of the home plate area. I noticed it a few times early, but I was up in AP12. I'm in the grandstands tomorrow and I'm thinking it'll be way more prevalent.

Sound under that grandstand roof is echoey and altogether way worse than anywhere else in the park. If audio quality is something you actually really care about, I’d try to upgrade to somewhere else.

19th show for me. It is impossible for me to rank them. The best one is the next one.
-Those first 5 were off the charts. Footsteps into Release… 10/10
-The Dark Matter tracks work VERY well live, in my opinion. Granted, I love the album. I was excited we got Setting Sun.
-Doesn’t matter how many times I hear the “hits”, I still jump and yell every time they pop.
-Few Even Bros trying to barge their way up the pit being stoned as shit. Then after one of them did, just sat on his phone.
-On a better pit note - met some awesome peeps from Philly! Cheers if you’re on here!
-I noted the bank smiling a ton. It warms my heart to see that they seem to thoroughly enjoy playing together still after all these years. Exemplified by the Jane’s Addiction fight the other night.
-They’re incredibly talented as musicians and as an ensemble. And it seemed Eddie was in an emotional state - that CC story hit me hard. Wow. Into In My Tree… jaw dropping.
Cheers to tomorrow night friends!!

By far the number one for me due to the situation. My 4th show on the rail / front row in 25 years. Brought my 10 year old daughter who’s a fan due to being stuck with me as a dad as her first concert ever. Her favorite album is Dark Matter and loved it and knew 90% of the setlist.
Ed was awesome and gave her a pick and a tambourine.
Outside of that her favorite song of the night: Blood.

Interesting, I was in B159 on the left, and the sound really was not good. Tomorrow Im in B94 on the right so Im hoping that the sound is better as my mom will be seeing them for the first time! She doesn't know their music really though. Where we were on Sunday it was very hard to make out the music, it was very muddy and sounded kind of like noise, without much guitar sound. So that would not be a good sound for a first time listener. But hopefully the section tomorrow will be better
Was in b94 last night. Thought the sound was excellent.
Very good show, they sounded great. I love Dark Matter…very surprised many do not.
However, these shows are nothing compared to the 2013-2016 shows. Look at the sets of 2016 Fenway compared to now. All due respect, but those shows were epic.

The band sounds better with these shorter sets and Josh in the mix. I’ll take that trade off. Also being able to take my loved ones who aren’t massive fans and knowing they’ll have a good time and won’t be totally fatigued by the end.

Implying I have any friends who actually regularly enjoy Pearl Jam 😢

My wife is hoping to reconnect with the woman who had to exit during Just Breathe. Her name is Veronica and you shared your experience with her and you switched spots with her during Given 2 Fly (to add some context) Please DM if you see this. I hope they took good care of you and let you continue your night.
Other than that, Just Breathe and Song of Good Hope do sort of suck some energy out of the set, otherwise, excellent show!
I’m not a fan of the Dark Matter album at all; I consider it their second weakest album after Riot Act. I don't get the hype.
Wow, I thought I must be the only one! I think it’s their weakest album and I really can’t understand the praise it’s getting on this board. Agree, Wreckage is particularly awful.
To the "D-Bag" that talked through the entire Glen set- Go to the back of the pit next time! You ruined it for many of us! Why do you come to a show to talk about NOTHING that matters and ignore the music? ...Other than that a beast of a show! Hansard won the crowd over and he deserves more recognition- PJ were on top and the set list was great! Ted Nugent had a few good tunes in the 70's he is totally irrelevant why feed into his BS.

I never really understand these posts....What is the point of it? Did you ask the people to be quiet during the set? Nothing changes when people rant online after the fact. Did you move? Unfortunately, it is not someone else's responsibility to ensure you were able to hear the opener (or the main set) in peace. Is it inconsiderate? yes. But so is calling someone a D-Bag. And no I was not THAT D-Bag ( I am sure I am many other peoples' D-Bag but I actually enjoyed his set and had never heard him before. It was a great night. I hope you get the chance to experience it in your style tonight if you are going.

That's a relief! Somebody else said they also thought B159 had bad sound so maybe it was just the section and hopefully tonight sounds better which would be great !
My first Fenway show, my second this tour, and my 15th overall. This one did not disappoint! I loved Boston, Fenway, the crowd, the people, the setlist, the band, and how the new songs sounded! Nice to check Footsteps and Blood off of my list, only a few left! Thanks to all who made it awesome!

Try to ask intoxicated people that are larger than you to be quiet at a rock concert and see how it plays out.
I went to both MSG and then tonight. I thought the setlist was great, and some I really liked hearing (Glorified G, In my Tree, extended Better Man). But the sound really let things down - MSG vs Fenway it was a huge downgrade. I think it probably depends where you are? Some people said they heard the guitar super clear above and the drums were muddled in the mix. For me, I heard the drums super clear but the guitar was muddled in the mix, and so it was hard to distinguish the guitar parts, making things just sound overall noisy and muddled rather than clear. I feel bad for people that don't know the songs well because from that angle (We were on the side) it was very hard to actually hear the music behind the songs in a way that is understandable. Tuesday I'm going with my mom whose never seen them before, and I hope it sounds better than tonight because she doesn't really know their music well and you couldn't really make out what they were actually playing from where I sat tonight!
Am I crazy or did they skip the best part of Do the Evolution with Stone's guitar riff? I feel like we went right to the choir? Or did I just totally space out? Haha. Anyway it was a very great setlist marred only by the sound - having seen them at MSG I think it isn't the band's fault. But they sounded so tight and powerful and energetic at MSG and from where I sat tonight it didn't come across that way -Im sure they were playing great, but the sound difference of an arena vs a stadium was hard to get over. It did somehow send better to me on the encore - maybe my ears got used to it? I loved the encore set and Blood was a fun surprise though I would have liked Never Destination too!
I also loved getting Something Special, it's one of my favorites on the album. I think they should do more indoor stadium shows. The two show at the United Center compared to the two at Wrigley this year were more off the hook and a better vibe. It also sounded better.
My first ever rail concert & it is second behind Philly 1 for me. Mike was on fire & great to hear Blood again even if they did totally mess it up, Stone was laughing at the end knowing how bad it was. Such an epic night, cannot wait for the bootlegs

This was my favorite of the 7 shows I have seen so far this year. First, they played Down. That had been my request on the Porch for many months. Thanks to all who helped me bump it up. Also, I was on center rail and Ed gave me the harmonica he played on Footsteps. That was such an unbelievably special moment for me. The band was in good spirits and the setlist was amazing. We even got a little wine shower up front. In My Tree, Blood, Setting Sun, SOLAT. It was a perfect night.

I was listening to the SOLAT podcast today and they were talking about how Ed never sings Blood anymore!
