Lower and lower physical sales of albums, low ticket sales, etc.

In terms of Pearl Jam being relevant and commercially successful, this seems to be a scary time for them and where they're at career-wise. The band always claimed to not care about such things, but that was when their albums still got certified and they could pack out any venue anywhere in the world. All of this must be a little jarring for them, honestly.

They need to get the ticket prices back in check and humble themselves to deliver at smaller venues. On the mainstream level, it'd look significantly better if they had both a critically claimed album (sans big sale numbers) and a world tour that is 99% sold out.

Pearl Jam hasn't been a "relevant" band in a long time.  And that's no knock on them.  They are still a profitable touring band. They are mostly selling out arenas and ballparks in the US, prices be damned. I feel terrible for locals of London and those traveling that this happened. But the singer got sick. What are you gong to do? These posts about the band being done or at a crossroads are a little dramatic.

Nobody can tell the band when they should close up shop, especially lowly little me.

I think paying attention to certain symptoms is a wise choice, though.

They still let everyone in the merch queue but a ton of merch for an hour before cancelling.... Stinks. Cancel at midday before shop opens and let folk choose
    Great point!!!
I know about cancelling and insurance payouts regards announcement timings but they would have known before the merch went on sale, was even selling cheap tickets minutes before, so people could arrange transport and hotels etc this morning!
it’s Bad Darts in my book, and it ain’t the first time let’s be honest!!
I remember Morrissey cancelling numerous times on past tours to the point even his diehard fans consider buying tickets anymore!
    Its a bad bet tbh

Cancellations 3 tours in a row.  The only show they rescheduled was in 2018.  Really does leave a bitter taste!

Nothing felt right about this Euro tour - especially for London.  Only 1 night, with such a long space in-between shows.

One show at the Tottenham Stadium!? I mean, of all the venues! (They are nowhere near as popular as Foo Fighters in the UK - who actually CAN sell out stadiums).

Double the price of tickets from last tour. Sales went badly from the go and the prices dropped considerably - screwing over ALL the fans that bought at full price when they went on sale.

The fact is.,.Pearl Jam could EASILY have sold out 2 nights at a smaller venue like O2 or Wembley Arena. Even at £100 a ticket (£30 more than 2022).

    What Happened???

What's that five letter word Vedder chants at the end of "Green Disease" again?

Honest question…why are Foo’s more popular than PJ over there?

It's probably not worth it anymore. 3 tours in a row with cancelled shows for me. Only 1 show rescheduled
Once is an accident. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is a pattern.

That’s what my grandfather told me anyway!
    The highs are high
But the cancelled shows suck so much.
And now the stress of going to Berlin not nothing if the show will happen fucking sucks

That just means we would of had 2 cancelled shows and not one

I would definitely agree the Foo Fighters are globally more popular than Pearl Jam in 2024. Is that honestly that surprising?

To answer the question, people I know who don't really like rock music, like the Foos. They are palatable for the Radio 1 crowd. Because they're quite good.

Indeed, very much like Green Day and the Chilis, they make music that is radio friendly and popular to a mass crowd

none of them compare to PJ imo , not even close
