This one was one of the highlights listening in the theatre.  The only snag with it is that there are parts that sound a bit like Slaughter - Fly to the Angels, while reprising Parting Ways, but I've always loved both songs anyways so that didn't make it a negative.  Love the way it closes out the album.

I love this song but thanks for making me laugh with slaughter.  I haven't thought about that song in a long time

I was wondering if those early drums were Matt or Josh. I guess we shall see in concert. Sounds like it could be by hand? I'm definitely not knowledgeable on this.

Ed singing in his lower vocal range gives me chills. Sounds So good. No need to go high, unless the original song melody requires it.

The 2nd half is my favorite part of the whole album. Exactly the type of PJ that I've been wanting to hear. THANK YOU!!
Josh is only credited with guitar & keyboards in the liner notes, and Watt had said that unleashing Matt was a priority. I think it’s all him.
Yep! I just came back here to correct myself after I went to my indy store to pick up my CA variant pre order get Another copy of CD to listen to until my 10c order gets here 🙄. I saw that 1st thing. Go Matt!

The first half of this song reminds me of a Neil Young song. I thought maybe 'unknown legend', but not sure if that's the one I'm thinking of.

I love the first half of this song.  The percussion and guitar combo is nice.  This is a top 3 song for me at the moment, behind React, Respond and Running

I love this song.  Is it just me or is there a similarity to Comes Then Goes in a couple sections of Ed’s singing?  Almost like he’s going to switch songs for about 4 or 5 words then brings it back to Setting Sun.

Love this song!!! Hit me in the theater and has continued to sound better every time I listen to it. Think it's a better opener than a closer. Would love to hear it on either end of a show.

Odd this song reminds me of a Springsteen song, and I can't place.

Can't dig it yet, either. That being said, It's a hell of a lot more uplifting than River Cross, and better than their last few albums' closers.

Yeah, it's a good song and I think it's growing on me with every listen, but it's def a better closer than River Cross easily.

The rhythm guitar in this is another level. Not just the chords but the way they are played, especially in the second half. Stone Gossard -- assuming it's him -- remains PJ's secret sauce IMHO.

I put this as a closer, maybe closer of the opening sit down, but definitely a set closer.

Just heard the song on the radio - kexp Seattle. Helped the morning drive!

HTI was an incredible slow set closer...Setting Sun should give off the same vibe.

Love KEXP. Even more so with John in the morning last week with the six degrees being dedicated to members of PJ all of last week.

The intro to this song has a kind of healing energy to it, and also the ending.  And it really flows so nicely back in to Scared of Fear.

Scared of Fear + Setting Sun is such a strong opener / closer combo, that not only stand up against the best in the Pearl Jam catalog, but I put this combo up against the best of any album period.
