Yawn. Another 3 chord wanna be power punk song that sounds like your average teenager garage band wrote in their garage in 1 hour.

Can't understand the lyrics, but whatever.

To each their own but so far its 0 for 2 with the first two singles off Dark Matter.

    I just don't get it.
    Yawn
Lol. Again. To each their own.

Really hoping these first two singles aren't the best two (in their minds) on the album.. 😕

You honestly can't tell me that Dark Matter is a good song, can you?!?

It doesn’t sound like anything is good enough or up to your standards. Maybe get off the site for a bit, not sure what to tell you. If u don’t like it then not sure why you need people to agree with u. Listen to another song. That’s all I got.

But don't think that is a single, the band says "The next track from Dark Matter arrives at midnight", I believe they going to continue release more track until the 19th.
Also darkmatter.pearljam.com says return soon for another reveal.
I’ve seen some surprise from people who have heard the whole album that Running was the second single, I wonder if they had something different planned (Wreckage or Waiting for Stevie maybe?) but when DM did better than expected they called an audible to throw the fans an album cut now and push whatever was planned for next at radio later after DM cools down

I really like the song Dark Matter.  If 50% of the new album is that good I’m in.

But Running, I’m out. Sorry, not going to slurp everything they do just because they do it.

I listened to the song three times in a row hoping it would grow on me. It just sounds like noise. Maybe 60 year olds shouldn't make a punk a album.
Maybe 60 year olds shouldn't listen to it, is what you mean. Punk is a lot of noise. Ed felt weird playing the album for his friends, handing out shots to loosen them up. It'll be fun at the show.

That’s insane and makes me take his comments with a grain of salt.  But nice of him to deflect from his own genius on the first few records.

I'm not sure what "slurp" means. Eat it up mindlessly? I'm not saying that. It's just awfully quick to decide that the song is irredeemable after twelve hours and a few listens. It's not a random song by a random artist. It's a band that you like enough to pay to belong to its fan club. You would they'd have earned a little more rope.

I don’t think this is noise.  I get the production on it could lead to that opinion, but you can still make out the separate parts, and the chaos makes the bridge hit so much harder.  Chaos into a simple bridge. Love it.

Don’t see how this could be considered a B side. I took that comment to mean it wasn’t well thought out or fully realized. I think it is.  Definitely is compared to the last three records.  Would you rather have the neutered punk of Johnny Guitar, SBWM, SuperSonic, etc?
  • jesselmsjesselms Posts: 41
I don't post often but felt compelled after hearing running. Running feels more like a B side or at best just a filler album song. Seems an odd choice, by far the shortest song on the album
  • bootlegger10bootlegger10 Posts: 15,927
I just don’t get at all how a few are saying this is filler or B side material.  I would be interested as to whether they feel this way about any songs from the last three records.

a 2:19 minute song is generally a filler or a b side, there is plenty of filler songs on the previous 3 albums but they don't get released as singles prior to an album release

Well - Still hoping like some scratch-off lottery for a few of the 9 other DM tracks to hit hard for me …Come on Wreckage? Setting Sun?!
Something on here is gonna be that familiar  pj jackpot! No album yet has been without a few.
