"That's part of the curse: If you're gonna play the song, you better play it. I've tried to phone in "Jeremy" a few times, and it's tough. It doesn't work."
Jim Edmonds used to come up to plate with "Alive" playing. This is circa 2000.

He is actually a Ten club member, I've talked to him about Pearl Jam before and right away he mentioned how they're the best band in the world. Apparently he sits about 10-20 rows back every show, so he's been a fan for a long time.
Sometimes they play a players ipod playlist in between periods and when they did his it was all PJ and some of it were the rarer not radio songs.
Also PJ is listed as his favorite band on his profile page on the capitals website in the kids area
Workin' on a list and I know I've missed someone. :( Thanks!
Love,
Kat
Is this for the next issue of Tiger Beat?
Seriously, though am I the only one who finds this completely ridiculous? Is this about finding validation from liking something that some jock likes too? Or is it a matter of identifying fans that are more important than "ordinary fans"? What about a list of fans that are doctors, or nurses, or police(wo)men, or teachers, or anyone else who makes an actual difference?
Or hell, I rather have a feature on fans who have followed the band 15+ years and have seen hundreds of shows, because I find that behaviour a lot more interesting than someone who has "Jeremy" play whenever he comes to bat.

can do. I don't go and say,
"I'm gonna beat this guy up."
It's common knowledge. He's a huge fan of Pearl Jam, in fact it was he who got me interested in them, since I was a fan of his to begin with. He used to listen to bootlegs through his walkman before he played matches, I've got photos of him listening to PJ bootlegs. He also wore a PJ cap during an interview I saw of him.
Ted Johnson and Teddy Bruschi from The patriots are big fans. I sat directly next to them at Great woods 98. It was awesome, we were Hi fiving each other when good songs came on. They signed my ticket stub, but I lost it cause I suck haha
I also heard ted Johnson tell a story on the radio how they drove to the Augusta ME show and had to drive back for practice the next game.
Beavis : Is this Pearl Jam?
Butt-head: This guy makes faces like Eddie Vedder.
Beavis: No, Eddie Vedder makes faces like this guy.
Butt-head: I heard these guys, like, came first and Pearl Jam ripped them off.
Beavis: No, Pearl Jam came first.
Butt-head: Well, they both suck.

Kirk Maltby of the Detroit Redwings had said a couple of times that Pearl Jam was his favorite band. I know Ed an Chris Chelios are friends back from when they both lived in San Diego. I also so Chris at the Detroit show in 06 Ed sang comeback and dedicated it to Chris.
Yellow Ledbetter is my least favorite song. Because as soon as you hear the first note you know it is time to say goodbye.
Patrick Rafter (off topic - the most beautiful tennis player ever) - I think I read smwhr he never missed PJ show if he was around...
You're correct. Pat Rafter is/was a huge fan! He was defending his title at the U.S. Open and was asked by the press if he was concerned about the pressure. He said something like..."not really, if I happen to lose early it'll be fine because then I'll get to join Pearl Jam on their tour." Btw, he went on to win the tournament. Also, I remember seeing Stone in the locker room and in the stands with Ben Harper.
I was fortunate enough to get invited to Rafter's after-party. It was awesome! The restaurant/bar blasted Pearl Jam for most of the night. There were quite a few Aussies at the party and needless to say they were going nuts to the music .
I haven't trawled thru the whole thread, so sorry if he's been mentioned before: Daniel Chick, very spunky Aussie Rules football player from the mighty West Coast Eagles. MMMmmmm Chicky Babe...
reaching in..... the suns fingers clutch the dawn to pass

Trevor Hoffman (close for the San Diego Padres) was at a San Diego show and hung out backstage, I read in a newspaper article he was a big fan.
Seth Wescott. When asked if he was a fan he replied:
"ever since ten. i love pearl jam! in fact they were a big part of the
mix i was listening to the morning i won the olympics."
Matt and Jeff Hardy talk about Pearl Jam often in interviews. I've seen pictures of Joey Mercury/Matthews wearing Pearl Jam shirts. Shannon Moore also.
Yeah, Matt has a story on his myspace about meeting the band!
Comments
Yeah.

I know this because of interviews and Pearl Jam music during 'documentaries' of himself when Olympic Games are held.

Ya Tie Domi is embarrising.
BUT I from what I understand Bryan McCabe is also a big Pearl Jam fan.
I worked the 2000 PJ show in Toronto and Sergei Berezin was in my section.
Also back to Wrestling: Raven is a fan. He used to come out to Even Flow back in the day.
Weird, mine is Rott Weiler....
