I don't know...isn't there kinda a difference between being a FAN and just liking a song or two or having a couple Pearl Jam songs on your ipod? I mean, I like two or three Metallica songs, but I am by no means a Metallica fan. In fact...overall...I hate Metallica.

If you're counting wrestlers, Matt Hardy loves Pearl Jam. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=152686889

Matt and Jeff Hardy talk about Pearl Jam often in interviews. I've seen pictures of Joey Mercury/Matthews wearing Pearl Jam shirts. Shannon Moore also.

He has Long Road and Corduroy on his playlist, and talks about how he loved meeting Eddie Vedder. Matt Hardy just got a whole lot cooler!

brian leetch of the new york rangers (well now retired) has pearl jam listed as his favorite band on the team's website.
  • I met Brian Rolston outside the Meadowlands afetr a Devils game. I was in my VEDDER 10 devils jersey and he loved it, told me he has been to 10 shows (and this was 5 years ago) and loves them.

Not sure if Kerry Wood was mentioned, but clearly, he is.

Considering he was sidestage in Chicago last year, smoking and drinking 2 nights before his season debut.

He was also at Alpine in 03 (obviously)

I don't know if wood counts as an athlete any more. He is more a guy that hangs out in the infirmary. Him and Pavano should become buddies they could be bed mates.

    Yeah, him.

Patrice/Marc-Andre, forward/defence, Bruins/Islanders. I was close...well not really, but at least i got the last name right.

For all we know, Patrice does too (but he plays for the Bruins so who really cares?).

I was there Monday too but I guess I was too busy checking out the 2 half-dressed coeds standing next to me behind home plate in the 9th inning when he pinch hit. I'll listen next time he comes up and I'm there for sure.
  • Fabricio Oberto- Center from San Antonio Spurs. Guy is an Argentine and even has Eddie Vedder locks. He digs Pearl Jam.

Ben Broussard from your hometown Seattle Mariners, back from when he was on my hometown Cleveland Indians....

    (see bottom)

I was excited to see you mention Pearl Jam, my favorite band, in the last mailbag. Two questions: How did you like the concert (I loved it)? And two, did any of the players get to go over to the show after the game? I'm pretty sure Ben Broussard is a fan. If any of them did get to go, what did they think?
    -- Chris W., Columbus, Ohio

Fantastic show, particularly considering I was in the 20th row and celebrating a birthday.

As for the players, I asked Broussard if he made it over after Saturday's game to see one of his favorite bands, but, unfortunately, he wasn't able to. That's OK, though. Broussard, from what I hear, can entertain himself with a fantastic version of "Yellow Ledbetter" that he performs with an acoustic guitar and a beatbox. No lie.
