I'm jealous of those that enjoy "the chase". I fucking hate it. In the 3 total days F2F has been open, I've had tickets in my cart 11 times with no luck. The last time, was a set drop from a very nice 10C member and I missed out because I apparently refreshed too many times waiting for them and now I'm suspended because TM thinks I'm a bot. I'm happy you enjoy these things, but I sure as fuck don't.Go Animal said:

There is an opportunity cost though. Spending all summer fishing around for tickets eats up time and mental energy that you could devote to other things. If you enjoy the chase (I do) and don't mind putting in the time, then there's certainly no need to waste your money on platinum. But if you said to me, "don't pay the dealer's premium pricing to fix your car next September, there's a wealth of online resources that can show you how to do it yourself for a fraction of the price if you spend all summer reading them," I'd call you crazy. This isn't that different.Go Animal said:
Love the band. We all do. Love their philanthropic work, and the fact they stand up for their convictions while making some of the best music on the planet.devonfz said:There’s a lot of good comments on this subject of premium seats. I get it, but I also see it from both sides on the one side the whole music industry is like a monopoly with live nation and Ticketmaster and such but on the other side, Pearl Jam was able to secure so many tickets for the fan club at below market prices, and I know a lot of people say 165 is expensive but they could easily sell those pit tickets GA tickets for 500 bucks apiece so on the other side of that Pearl Jam is leaving millions of dollars on the table if they just use dynamic pricing for the whole arena like so many other bands so if they got to let 10% go to premium but 90% is going at face value and the majority of that 90% is going to the fan club I think it’s just the way it’s gotta be I myself am extremely grateful that they are playing shows and getting so many tickets into the fan club. Like I said it might seem expensive, but 165 is a pretty good deal for Pearl Jam compared to other bands. I look at blink-182 tickets for Sacramento and good seats are going for 1000 bucks and the worst in the house is still going for 120 so 165 is a pretty good deal for a Pearl Jam in my opinion like I said, I believe they are leaving millions of dollars on the table for fan club members to get tickets and I think that’s pretty cool
But I don't think any band deserves to be lauded for leaving money on the table. They're not hurting.
Each show will make a few million. Tickets, merch, parking, vending, and Club level/Premium experiences. The band will get paid, the crew will get paid, and all their families will be secure.
And that's just with regular priced tickets. I measure how much I want to see a band by the price Pearl Jam sets. At this juncture, I wouldn't pay more than $163 to see any artist (save for a magical reunion of legends who called it a day).
The band doesn't NEED PJ Premium. All that money is going to go to two places: Pearl Jam's LLC, or their philanthropic endeavors. And, while not a guarantee, the majority of fans buying Premium are pretty well off. And the band is more than happy to take that extra revenue & put it towards some good causes. And bless 'em for it.
But the flip side of that, is WE don't need PJ Premium either. We have this board. And all summer to fish around on F2F (when it's turned on). If you really want to find a way into one of these shows, you will. This board will help.
That's what I advocate for. There's no need to panic, and buy overpriced seats that some 40 or 50-something who just wants to hear the hits is willing to pay. As we speak, singles & pairs of those seats are getting bought. And hopefully that person gets their money's worth!
But if they can't make it to the show for whatever reason... hoo boy, are they gonna have a hard time moving those tickets. Because you CAN'T lower the price. The system won't let you.
And that lack of freedom & flexibility, is why I keep repeating myself:
 don't buy Premium.
Yet, like you, I enjoy the hunt😅
Side note: I haven't been to a dealer since my last free car wash circa 2011, lol. I'm still driving the same beat up Ford SUV by choice.
I could've afforded a few years of car payments to get something new-er (honestly, I'm waiting for the right electric option that's not a Tesla), but my car still runs good.

Calling it stupid doesn't mean it is stupid. Reducing the tickets allocated to the 10C doesn't give more tickets to Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster isn't attending the show and doesn't own the tickets. It distributes the tickets for a fee. Reducing the 10C allotment merely reallocates more tickets to the verified fan sale and public sale. Apparently, the verified fan sale was a joke because only Premiums were available. Taking the batch of 300-level seats that went to the 10C lottery that most 10C members apparently didn't want and making them available to people in the verified fan sale who might want them isn't stupid at all. It's far more stupid to be assigned a 300-level seat that you don't want and don't have an opportunity to reject while also having to see the actual good seats being sold at Premium prices. If the nosebleeds don't sell in the verified and general sale when people have a chance to pick or reject specific seats, that's a pretty good indication that they're overpriced.pjhawks said:I can’t believe people are advocating for less 10 Club tickets. Yeah, I don’t get the endless bitching about the 10 club and what they do when they really don’t have to do anything the 10 club is very protective and loyal to members who have been in the club for a long time that’s just a fact my number is 266. I’m in the middle of the pack. I am never moving any closer because nobody with a higher number than me if they haven’t quit by now they’re not gonna quit. It is what it is before the tour clearly stated 10% of the tickets are going to premium, and that 10 club seats are going to be pushed further back into the upper levels of the Arenas if you’ve got a really high number you’re never gonna get good seats ever again it’s just a fact unless you win the GA tickets which you still can I’m spending thousands of dollars on airline tickets and hotel for us to come to the Austin shows so premium does serve a purpose for fans that can afford it one more time they said what they were going to do before they did it nobody should’ve been surprised and I’ve said it in other post Pearl Jam is leaving millions of dollars on the table on this tour they could very easily charge higher prices for all tickets if they wanted to0

Before the 2020 tour got postponed I spent a lot of calories trying to get GA tix for Oakland. I got there, but so many calories spent. Almost to the point it got addictive. Of course by the time the show happened in 2022, that was mostly forgotten and I had a great timejwc6160 said:

The whole f2f throws a wrench into things. It mostly makes tickets disposable. Don't like 'em throw them back in the pot (which isn't great for the 10c'ers that actually want to use the tickets they win). The second is that your never out, if you spent copious amounts of time looking and refreshing you can keep upgrade and get to better seats. The 3rd is that technically you don't need to be a 10c'er anymore. You can just spend the copious amounts of time to pick up tickets other 10c'ers discard 0 0

You do realize that because these tickets weren't sold at a premium, the price of our Ten club tickets next tour are going to go up because they can't subsidize our lower than market pricing. Your intent was noble but it may end up backfiring in the long run.Go Animal said:Screenshot taken at 5:22pm EST

With all due respect, I disagree. The band & its mgmt set the price. As Robert Smith indicated, Premium/Platinum is a choice. These tickets would've sold. And that's more fans in the building buying merch, food, and drink.vedpunk said:

The Fan Club system is broken.
For many months, these seats sat between the $400-$1k range. I know, because I check every day & every show.
And it's not just me pointing out the ridiculous nature of surge pricing.
A casual (or lapsed) fan probably heard PJ on The Bear one day, went to go look for tickets, and found either overpriced Premiums, or seats they didn't want in the 200's. And said "fuck that".
If they had tiered pricing, they mightve sold the place out tonight. More heads = more $$.
I've yet to have someone justify the fact that rear section seats are the same price as GA & Floor.
Rear seats should start at the $79-89 range. That's better than being unsold.
The goal of any show, whether it's a concert, or a circus, or even wrestling, is to put asses in seats.
The current system didn't exactly get that done (regardless of the musings of a random message board poster like myself).35 years, 35 shows.

I understand your theory but Pearl Jam is a business and they successfully sold out this show. Unfortunately, tickets didn't reach all the fans. Next tour Ticketmaster will evaluate the metrics and determine how many tickets will go to the fan club and pricing will be adjusted as a result.
I'm 100% all for tiered pricing though!Post edited by vedpunk on0

Not counting F2F, I count about 94 blue dots on here as of 6pm EST
Even if they were sold at it at the $161.27 rate, that comes out to over $15k in lost revenue.
I'll bet anybody a dollar that almost all of those seats would have sold if they were priced between $129-169. But folks were put off buy the Premium price tag.
All that being said, glad we agree on a tiered system. The band deserves its flowers, and deserves to be well compensated. But the Premium is a little ridiculous.
This is all fixable.35 years, 35 shows.

You’re mad someone didn’t pay $1k for their tickets that the person next to them paid $160? GTFO. They can barely go higher than $162 as it is… especially charging that for upper level and behind the stage seats is a bit excessive already. Both St. Paul shows didn’t have great demand and lower level re-sells of $161 tickets went unsold. At some point people are going to stop going.vedpunk said:
