The merch gives the answer for the show tomorrow unfortunately.  I don’t get the merch sale thing tbh…
Would guess they’re selling that stuff today because it won’t be there tomorrow.

  • I feel so bad for all who have been affected by these cancellations. I do wish that there could have been more notice given, but I do think (hope) that they were really hoping that Ed was going to be able to perform.

That said, they need to do a canceled show tour. Raleigh, Baltimore, Sacramento, Vegas and now these Euro shows. Anyone who held tickets should get first dibs.

We have tix for Hamilton & Toronto, but I have not yet booked flights. I really think I'm going to add insurance just in case there are more cancellations.

Oh come on, if he can’t play I can’t see any reason why that can’t be announced when it’s known. They cancelled Prague the day before after all

ite ok though they are putting all their energy into having a show tomorrow

Ugh. Feel bad for Ed. This could have been handled so much better. Please cancel the second show now so people who've spent a load of money can maybe get some of it back. Please.

Rescheduled three times since 2019 and now outright cancelled. That and the late cancellation is a bit harsh...

While unable to partake in some of Amsterdam’s coffee shops, this draft Amstel certainly helps ease the pain of tonight.

That'd be it for the tour then. Tomorrow night won't happen. Absolutely sucks for those who have waited, and particularly those who travelled and lost $.

Cancelling just before doors open again is pretty tough to swallow. It's definitely questionable.
    Come to send, not condescend...

The whole cancellation notice sounds like a set-up to cancel the second show as well. It's a disease and they're all green, but the communication over the last two days just sounds like management speak to get the biggest income for the band and their Livenation buddies. Merch income was certainly pumping today. Nobody cares about energies focusing, just be honest and cancel the 2nd show on time. 5 or 6 days shouldn't make a difference, any competent doctor should be able to diagnose upfront whether it makes sense to sing for 2h or not.
Exactly, if you cant sing today you wont sing tomorrow then why wait to cancel?? I just dont get it

I get the frustration, and I empathize. But...I also think they've earned the benefit of the doubt. The late cancellation today likely means that it was a game time decision. I don't believe they did it for any nefarious reason.

I wouldn’t hold your breath. I was in Paris for the Stones and train was sold out online so booked a last minute flight.  When I got to the arena this was the first I heard about Ed’s voice.  Clearly don’t want him to play sick.  He can permanently ruin his voice like Ian Anderson did touring with laryngitis.  The same thing happened in London in 2018.  I’m very disappointed and out several hundred bucks, but shit happens.

regarding the merch. I bought two extra large, and one is marked excel but is really small.  It was the shirt I really liked too.  I didn’t notice it until later so check the shirts!

If Ed is without voice as their communication says, cancelling tomorrow is a no-brainer. Someone who has no voice will not sing a 2h show tomorrow. So stop beating around the bush and cancel tomorrow. 24h is basically nothing from a medical point of view in a case like this. So don't keep people in suspense and give him the 5 weeks he needs to get his voice back that any reasonable doctor would prescribe if his state is as they say.
I hear you and I get this point of view.

It would have been a great day for me and lots of others if the announcement came this morning. I made other plans already but the announcement did not come so plan B was off. Back to A. Although I preferred B since it really did not feel good seeing Ed struggling on stage to last 2 hours. I just have my voice back after 2 weeks with a sore throat, definitely nasty.  Due to the uncertainty we even went late. Just in time for the early access. Well...we first stopped at a gas station and the email came in.What a joke.
This really ruined my day. Not because the show was cancelled but because of this late notification.
Can't imagine how all those who did some last minute travelling must have felt.
If it is insurance, why was the previous one cancelled one day before? Come on.
Bad management. Give the guy a break and cancel tomorrow as well.
We all want to see Ed healthy again and not permanently damaging his voice.
    It is all just sad

Going to guess all the nasty comments are not going unseen..

Look, let me be clear I totally feel bad for ticket holders with these last minute cancellations. And I AGREE that this could and SHOULD be handled better. 100%. 1 hour before the show is just not acceptable.

Now, all that being said, there are A LOT of worse lives out there than being stuck in cities like Prague and Amsterdam. Two of my favorite cities in Europe. People are on here complaining about "wasting" money on flights...well is it a "waste" because now you are "stuck" in Prague or Amsterdam? I get the disappointment, I do, but there's people in the world who would love to go anywhere near those places and will never get a chance to make it there. If you were able to even make it over to Prague or Amsterdam I think there's worse things that have happened in this world than you being able to spend a couple of nights there. I'm not saying people can't be sad or disappointed, because I sure would be, but lets not act like even being in that situation is not a privilege. Look around and make the most of the situation. Amsterdam is an amazing city...and quite frankly you could have traveled to Sacramento and been stuck there for a cancelled show. Some of the reactions here are a little over the top and quite frankly as tone deaf as anything the band's management can or has put out. Life is short and fragile and for many people you'll probably never meet just horrible...enjoy even being in place like a Prague or Amsterdam and put your disappointment in perspective. All i'm saying.

Hope eddie feels better. Shitty how this Album release and now tour is going. Kills us all and I'm sure the band the most.

I don't think there's anything "nefarious" about it. As a few folks have noted there may be some financial reason to wait until a certain time to announce the cancellation. Which is not nefarious so much as it is, I don't know, very capitalist. Which, whatever. Pearl Jam is a multi-million dollar corporation as much as they are a band, that's just reality. Plenty of bands like that, kind of an inevitability when they generate as much revenue as they do. But, maybe they're really waiting until the last minute each show in the hopes Ed can go. I'm not a doctor, I have no way of knowing the extent of the damage that was done to Ed's throat/vocal cords but it seems unlikely to me that any doctor would see him today, say "You can't sing for two hours," and then give him the green light 24 hours later. If the damage is extensive enough to cancel three shows over the course of a week, that fourth show happening as scheduled seems very unlikely to me. Hopefully Ed can give his voice the rest it needs and heal up and the September shows will go on as planned, and maybe they'll complete the entire leg without a cancellation this time.

First of all I feel bad for Ed and the band. I hope Ed is better soon. Second, this sucks for all parties involved. But third, what is going on with PJ?  The last minute cancel timeline seems very odd and feels like something isn’t right. I have (and feel most of fans) have given PJ the benefit of the doubt since day 1. Something feels off about them this tour 🤷🏼‍♂️

They were fantastic in London.  The singer lost his voice.  Let’s not over-analyze that.  Management should have called the tour at Vienna but there are probably insurance reasons etc. as to whyvthey’re doing show by show.  Each event is a multi million dollar enterprise.  I don’t think there’s drama in the band.  It’s insurers and lawyers doing their thing.

  • I'm sitting in Canada feeling bad for everyone right now. The band must have thought they could pull off a show if they cancelled it that late. They aren't built to be dicks. I was in Oakland for both shows and was so fortunate not to be on the receiving end of bad news.

Thanks to all the fans playing and singing together  outside Ziggo dome yesterday. It eased the pain a little bit, and at the same time made me long extra for experiencing the band live in front of me. Bitter sweet.

For EV: it's ok, it's ok, you know I love you anyway.

    Get well soon!!!

    And

    Come back.❤
