Cancellation Notice for Amsterdam Night 1
News July 24 2022

In spite of continuous medical treatment, Ed is regretfully still without a voice and unable to perform tonight’s show at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.

This is again the worst possible scenario for the band. We wholeheartedly apologize to all that worked so hard to put on the show and those supporters we looked forward to seeing.

Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.

Thank you enormously for your continued understanding. All of our energies will now be focused on having a show tomorrow.

Bit of a joke that the announcement was made so close to doors open. Are we to expect a show tomorrow given that he has missed 3?

I was due to be in the airport tomorrow at 3am to fly at 6am and to leave at 6am tuesday, seriously contemplating not traveling, I mean what is the point only to arrive and be told its not happening.

Make the call on night 2 now aswell and save us all the stress, everyone has been very understanding up to this point but today's announcement was a joke

God Bless Eddie, but I am in the US - had tickets for both shows originally and Covid hit, I was eating a lot of tickets because I did not want to risk traveling to Europe with all the issues and the possibility of this being cancelled like Vegas was. But they need to understand people have paid a lot of money and time blacked off to travel and see the band. Let the people  know now and let them move on with their lives. If he cant go today then just cancel tomorrow and let him rest. People have lives to and not endless income sources.

  • Sorry but I’m sitting here at a bar outside the venue and we get the announcement 1 hour before doors open. This is unacceptable and unprofessional

Given the on going situation a call should have been made 24 hours in advance so that folks could cancel flights / hotels and get a refund if they could

I don’t wish anyone ill and I hope EV gets better soon but this has been handled very poorly

If the show was cancelled yesterday à lot of people could have saved a lot of money… Now I spent close to 1000$ in flighttickets and hotel and spent 4 hours i line only to find that all posters and event shirt were sold out… I have no problem at all with Eddie being sick but this organisation need to do a lot better moving forward….

Three shows on US tour w/o MC
Two shows on US tour canceled
Three (probably four) shows on UK/EU tour canceled

Feel terrible for the band, crew and fans and I hope the Sept shows go well but boy does that feel unlikely right now.

Unacceptable to leave this cancellation so late. If Ed's voice is this bad, why leave it so late and yet again cost fans hundreds of euros? Got total sympathy for Eddie but it's unprofessional and unfair on fans that are paying big bucks to travel to these gigs.

Just reading the announcement now in my hotel room next to the venue. I can’t believe how poorly this has been handled. Sympathy to Eddie and all that, it’s not his fault. But this should have been dealt with much better.

Absolutely gutted, sitting in a bar by the venue wondering what the fuck we are going to do now, queued up for 4 hours to get a poster and the one I wanted sold out a minute before we got in, so I now have a poster that I’m not keen on to a show I’m not going to see..just make the call on night 2 now and save us the misery tomorrow..after weeks following the band around Europe it’s all gone horribly wrong this last week..gutted for Ed, get well soon

You'd have to assume that Ed has gotten at least somewhat better, since they didn't cancel earlier..
Maybe they came to a conclusion, that back 2 back shows would not work, and if they only do one, tomorrow is the better choice given the 24hrs extra rest..

Who knows.. we all understand the frustration though

Suffered through this feeling in Vienna. Sorry for you! Try to find some fellow fans, have some drinks and make the best of it.

Last tour travelled to London only to have night 2 cancelled due to throat issues. Now in Amsterdam after waiting 3 years and rescheduling flights, hotel and vacation days three times. Out of pocket 1000+ euros and now just waiting for the inevitable night 2 cancellation also. Seriously beginning to view this as the end of me travelling to see them. If they continuously can't stay healthy even for short tours then the risk - because of the money involved - is simply too big for me to enjoy it all. Of course no one is to blame and this is mostly due to bad luck - but I just know from experience that this is so crushing - you get your ticket money back, but the loss of time, energy and the large amount of money spent on travels is such a hit that I have a hard time staying positive in regards to things Pearl Jam related right now. Wish I was among those who reacts with a "get well Ed - that's all that matters" or "hey, we'll get together over some pints and get the barkeep to play some PJ" and just have get over it. But nah, for me it's all about the live shows and looking forward to them for years, so this is SO worst case scenario for me

Please go ahead and cancel Bournon and Beyond! Not fair for the faithful who have held Nash and STL tickets for YEARS. Is the money really worth 3 nights in a row and making Fri/sun shows pay with shorter sets.

An absolute kick in the stones for all. Nightmare.  If Ed has no voice how is he going to possibly be ok for tomorrow.  24 hours might not be enough time if his voice is gone. Let people know.

    Controversial post:

Management sucks. Give these poor fans more than 2 hours notice before canceling the show. Jesus F. Christ. I feel for everyone who is at or near the venue right now that spent their hard earned money on transportation to the venue - only for a cancelation notice right before doors open.

    Controversial post #2:

    Just cancel tomorrow's show already...

    What a god damn joke.

(This is not a knock on EV's current health issues. It's a knock on management or whomever is calling the shots on Go/No Go)

And as for night 2 , does anyone here honestly think it’s going to happen ? If his voice has been too fucked to sing for a week now then I simply refuse to believe it will miraculously heal in the next 24 hours, it’s just a shitshow and they really ought to pull tomorrow night too now..my wife’s friends traveled from Thailand just for these shows and it’s just heartbreaking for them…absolutely fucking gutted

Now experiencing my third cancellation in what 6 days 2 of the three basically at last minute I understand why but not the how    It would be a fucking miracle like Red Sea parting miracle for EV to suddenly have his voice back by tomorrow.  These things take weeks and sometimes much longer not days or hours to heal.   It’s really bizarre that they must know there is little likelihood for a show tomorrow but they won’t just cancel so people can get on with things.  Also selling merch and even selling “leftover” merch from the other cancelled shows really stinks of exploitation despite some effort to donate some of the funds.   PJ management could take many lessons from Bruce Springsteen and his management,  they would never have handled all of this so poorly

Just checked, I paid for these tickets 5th December 2019. This really sucks and obviously I hope Ed keeps his amazing voice but was also handled poorly. Really feel for the people who queued early, there was little to no shade in that midday sun.

It’s certainly unpredictable and strange times we’re living through. I try to plan my travel around countries I love or really want to visit with the gig as a bonus rather than the other way around. The short notice is incredibly bad management and very harsh on the fans tho, more notice would give people the chance to plan something else to go enjoy instead.
