I'm somehow both stunned but not surprised. Whatever damage was done to Ed is serious and getting scarier with each cancellation.
Ev is kind of a perfectionist... My guess is that he could do a 75% show and that just isn't good enough for him
I don’t know.  Ed’s voice isn’t strong at all these days even when healthy.  If he wouldn’t do long term damage to his throat and can let the crowd take care of the tough parts of songs he’d be a go.
I mean, it’s not 1990s level strong, but this is a bit harsh. It generally holds for a 55(?) year old dude.
I think Ed's voice is the best since 2006! Maybe not for 3 hours shows but amazing how strong it sounded in Budapest.

I think it is as simple as they thought he was going to be ok enough yesterday to play. Some fans  that had connections with the crew were told it was a go for both nights. Something happened since they were told that. Was it a huge enough setback that both nights are going to be cancelled we will see. I am hoping the advice Eddie got late was you can do one show with out doing serious damage and they are choosing tonight for more rest.

I honestly do not think it has anything to do with insurance or money or any of that. I believe they are trying to give this as much of a go as they can for the fans. Maybe that is me just being hopeful the band we have loved for so many years would do things.

Before heading off to central Amsterdam from the hotel which is next to the venue, out of curiosity I wanted to see if anyone is queuing for tonight. And there’s about 100 people in line!

Let's see what happens. I am flying back to the UK tomorrow so I am going to be around anyway. I am getting a little fed up with some of the Twitter posts where there is a lot of blame apportioning and hinting towards greed of the band. I think the guys really want to perform and ok, the communication hasn't been great, but the negativity and greed blame is uncalled for. I am hoping for the best. Btw, if they DO play, we're going to be in for an EPIC show!

Btw, in the Dutch newspapers it says that the band was ready to play, but that the doctor didn't agree to that and gave a negative opinion. Not sure how much of that would really stop the band from playing. But that advice apparently came really late...

I admire your attitude through this whole tour. You’ve had nothing but shitty luck this whole tour and you’ve handled it very well. I would have probably been stomping my feet like a baby if I had ONE show canceled. I really hope tonight’s a go and it’s the best show of the tour.

They've been thinking that since Vienna. If he has no voice (which is what fans who saw him at Prague airport leaving for Amsterdam said as well) then they are just waiting for a miracle. Pretty expensive waiting for a lot of fans though.

We are all in the same boat here! It is a punch of a stomach for everyone involved. You have to feel for the band too at this point.

There will be more shows for us in the future as well! Glad we got to chat and maybe we will get a chance again tonight. Word on the street is a creative set is being worked on so the show can happen. Don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up but they are trying there best to pull it off that I know. If it somehow does happen let’s bring it for Eddie and the guys and carry this show for them. They have given us so much in the past!

William from PJ merch apparently told people in the queue that the show is on for tonight but will likely involve Stone and Matt singing a couple of songs.

It may end up being a weird but fun night in that case.

I’m thinking the longest ever Even Flow and Crazy Mary instrumentals, Black Diamond, the song Matt sang in LA, Mankind, Better Man 100% crowd singing, etc.  Enjoy.  I’ll catch it on the boot.  Couldn’t justify crossing the ocean for one show that isn’t guaranteed.

Paid to see Pearl Jam and to have someone other than EV singing say up to half the songs will not be PJ.  If multiple songs done by anyone other than EV is actually what they are considering then there should be transparency and allow us to opt out and get refunds.   I don’t want to hear Stone or Jeff sing garbage like Sweet Lew And Don’t Gimme No Lip

Strongly disagree and that is coming from someone that saw Sweet Lew and Don’t Gimme No Lip at his last two shows.
