Also if 20 songs is the new ”number” they can’t keep playing DTE, Given to fly, Even Flow, Porch and Why go every night… Thats 25% of the set…

People keep talking about their age but the guys are mid to late 50's. There's plenty of musicians and bands touring in their 70's and 80's that play 2 hours or more.
People keep talking about they're age but the guys are mid to late 50's. There's plenty of musicians and bands touring in their 70's and 80's that play 2 hours or more.
And there’s plenty of ways to structure a set list to help. Plus they play such short tours anyway. Acoustic sections, hell even a 20 min intermission! This is so depressing.
I think I must have been at a different gig to some 😂
This was my 40th show, I was at Pinkpop on Saturday, I didn’t go to Berlin so can’t comment on that, we can’t go to everything lol.
Anyway, we were in seats on Stones side. People around us didn’t stand up initially, they checked with others it was ok to do so. There were people with crutches etc and standing would obscure their view. Not everyone is able to stand that’s why they buy seats.
I cried at Release, the last time I saw PJ (at a non festival show) was at the Home Shows. A hell of a lot has happened in that time. There was an immediate sense of being ‘home’.
I got Smile, a special song to me. Some of those scratched would have been great to see.
We could see the GA crowd bouncing and singing along. Everyone around us was joining in, dancing and singing.
I was with a person I love, watching a band we love.
I’m sitting in my hotel bar and people are happy, drinking (very expensive beer) sharing videos, chatting about the gig.
There were issues with the mix, Josh overpowered at times, Ed had mic issues, and there were times of ‘muddiness’.
I genuinely thought that show was more than 20 songs. There needs to be an adjustment to the shorter sets for me but tonight didn’t seem abrupt like Pinkpop. We are going to see Bruce Springsteen next year, I mean he still plays epic sets - well he did pre-covid.
So yes it wasn’t perfect, but it’s what you make of it. Everyone’s experience is individual, that’s the beauty of music but I enjoyed tonight. I’ll take that if it’s a bad show😂
(Ottawa 2011 was my least favourite this far, and I was with Dimitris in Arras in 2010 so we both had that umm experience).

It’s like they’re secretly telling us something hahah. There’s no way they think this isn’t being heavily discussed amongst the fan base. This isn’t 25-29 songs anymore. This is a DRASTIC change. I respect their privacy but selfishly would like to know the reason.
Crazy hypothesis time. I'm not saying I believe this, because I don't, but it has crossed my mind.
These shows (with the exception of Fresno, which had illness issues) were all scheduled in 2020. They were contracted to play at 2020 rates. COVID changed all kinds of things. Are they, or is some one of they, pissed about playing these shows? Not enough money, not enough perks, etc? Is this the Pearl Jam version of a labor slowdown?
Like I said, it's a crazy hypothesis and I'm not convinced it is true. But it did cross my mind.
For me, the show is now pretty much over. Nothing special like the opening acoustic songs , the first 2-3 songs in encore 2. Prove me wrong PJ.
Wow you’re pissing me off! You weren’t even there. This show was fucking amazing. Go away

The two sets with an intermission model many bands employ might be something that could help shake things up. 11-13 songs, break, 11-13 songs, goodnight. Or one song encore then goodnight.
Maybe someone is still feeling the aftermath of Covid and thats totaly ok but if thats not the case……
Kiss play 23 songs and they are 70 years old with tons of crap on them :-) and Bruce plays +30 songs a nite…
If this is an stamina issue then it’s time to lose the cigarettes and to hit the gym 😉
Rush played 3 hours plus up until the end.
I dont believe it's stamina or for longevity. It feels like someone in the band doesn't want to do this anymore and it's not Ed.
Agreed that it’s not Ed. We could honestly get to a point soon where EV Earthlings shows have longer setlists than PJ shows.
Edit ^ looks like Earthlings played about 25 a night. Absolutely crazy. Something is going on.
Edit 2 ^ Dirty Frank with the Earthlings is the biggest white whale of 2022 so far. Again crazy.

According to a post in the fanview thread, they had time for one more and Ed told the band no during Alive.
If the curfew was 11pm there was no time left, Alive ended at 22:58 on my watch. They were signaling during the last minute of Alive to end with it but I couldn't see who started signaling. I didn't have the impression it was because they didn't wanted to go on
The Pearl Jam i know and love would have no problem going a few minutes over curfew….

I’m surprised this hasn’t been mentioned but Ed took a note from the front row with song requests and said he wanted to give the fans what they wanted (like in LA). But then he took a glance at it and said nope we aren’t playing any of these. And then said we wanted to hear this next one…. Black
Easily the weakest Pearl Jam show I’ve ever been to. That was not good.
Were we at the same show? I don’t know where you were but in the pit we had a blast
So glad you got Release, it's a spine-tingling opener...I had been to like 7 or 8 shows and then I finally got it at a show I wasn't even supposed to be at. Now I've seen it 7x's and it's always incredible!

Seems a wild jump to start speculating about "somebody in the band" not wanting to do this anymore.
This tour was postponed two years and is still happening in a world that has not recovered from (and is still in many ways in the midst of) a pandemic that completely wiped out the music industry.
The shows have been shorter, who knows why. They've also had two guys out with COVID which completely upended the first leg and it sounds like there were technical issues today. Pretty tough to put a finger on what's going on.
Last I heard they'd started working on a new record, or at least demos, with Watt. Stone gave an interview prior to the US tour in which he said he still wanted to make "the great 21st century Pearl Jam album." Doesn't sound to me like a band ready to hang it up.
This is a weird time. For everyone. The people in this band, around this band, are not immune to that.
