If the "big" news is truly only ~10-15 shows then maybe the shows will be extra special in some way...just a thought.

Same. If the rumors hold true this is the third leg of US dates in support of Gigaton and the entire east coast of the US has gotten TWO. New England, exactly zero. I’m going to be a bit salty if multiple Midwest cities get more than one date and the most populated region of the country had to fight over one show at MSG and one in Camden.

To be very clear: they don’t owe us anything. They’ve given us a ton for 3 decades plus. If they want a light year where they plug away on an album and play minimal dates, they have every right to. They’ve earned it.
    But…
maybe don’t put “big things are coming” in my inbox if that’s the year you are planning.

10-15 would be a pretty normal tour for them not sure why they'd do something to make them extra special then they would a normal show.

Maybe each show will be an album show with the album of choice played in its entirety. Something like that. That would definitely get people to travel to multiple shows.

I also think it's worth a reminder that a "light year" only applies to them as a group. The guys are all doing their own thing the rest of the year with Stone and Jeff on tour now. Matt maybe maybe not doing some Foo stuff, Mike doing some Rockfords stuff, Eddie is always doing random stuff, plus maybe some studio time too.

The April Roundup email saying big things are coming is a positive. They're playing shows and that's great news. We'll find out soon enough.

I think people need to pump the brakes on expectations this tour. If the rumours are accurate and no shows are added there are going to be a lot of disappointed people here.

5 cities? Can you even call
that a tour? I think the disappointment would finally be justified if this happens.
I think at this point any thing is considered a tour for them. They play possibly the least amount of shows of any active band that is that big of a draw. Not complaining, but maybe even 5 shows a year would be great rather than skipping whole years
On that note..........haven't the Red Hot Chili Peppers been on tour for over a year now?
A massive tour. Scheduled at least through July as of now

There is every reason to be excited at this point.  There is no reason to be disappointed.  Going from no news to this news, "big things" could mean anything.

If they did 3 shows, those are big things by comparison.  People expecting a dozen or more shows need to temper some expectations a bit. Looks like things are happening.  We know they are working on an album, and thats exciting.  They look like they are going from no shows to some shows, so that's exciting.  And with a new album, there will indeed be touring for that as well, so that exciting, even if that is next year.  So, its all coming.  Just enjoy the hype, but its way too early to be pre-disappointed.

New album would be great! So few shows supporting Gigaton not so great. Would love more shows with a Gigaton focus personally.

I at least thought more hints or hype were going to be pushed out if it wasn’t the dates right away.

Not asking for any. But I’m happy that you’ll get shows. I’ve never had the luxury of seeing them in my home state so congrats. Me wanting shows closer to home doesn’t mean you shouldn’t want shows too. Have a good one.

I think they’re working on an album, based on the tiniest bits of info.

I still think the album will be released around the time of the tour (or just after). Sort of fits in with the way the band was so quiet in the last 3-4 months, the snippets from Andrew Watt etc. Plus lead time on vinyl production is around 6 months? Falls nicely with a September/October tour.

Something big could be Texas.  Nothing small about Texas.

As far as Philly is concerned, how’s this for a theory:  the Phillies are in Milwaukee on Sept. 3.

I'll be surprised if there is an album release this year. Pleasantly so, but still surprised.

It's a sales pitch to non-10 Club members. I get emails constantly for big clearance sales, then click the link to find the deals are only 10% off regular prices. Santos could also say "sign up now for a chance to purchase member only items like long sold out posters" then the eventual poster drop could be posters not currently in the shop like the baby brain, McDonalds Clown and ManBearPig. Current members would be let down with the excitement thinking a Pitt 13 was coming, but its just a sales pitch to sign up new members. One person's "big thing" is another's disappointment.

Help me out with something. The reason I noticed the Kia Forum slide on Saturday was because when I first looked at it, it looked like the seats at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. But then I noticed the sign on the wall that clearly says Kia Forum. However, when I look at photos of the Forum, the seats appear to be red. Did they just change over to teal seats in the last couple years?

serious question, if they had a bunch of songs already, which I seem to remember about the time Gigaton came out there was talk about a double album or something like that, and they started recording the first of this year, why is it odd they could at least announce a new album for this fall? Does it take a couple years to record, produce and release? Not to mention the release could be digital with vinyl a few months later.

So, I'm making my prediction to "big things" are, a fall tour, record release and a world tour in 2024 with the dates to be determined.  Stamp it!

I'm just having fun... I'm enjoying this thread, and the prospect of a tour being announced, but after the last few years, it doesn't matter as much to me as it used to.

I'll either see Pearl Jam this year, or I won't.
I'm kind of in the same boat. I was so happy to see them in OKC last year because it was drivable. That's what I'm looking for here as well. Most of the shows I've seen were in 98, 2000 or 2003. I didn't see them again until 2009 - I tend to take long breaks from seeing them because life happens. In the meantime, we've seen a ton of other bands that come to where we live. PJ is still easily one of my top 3 all time bands, but the days of me flying or driving all over the country to see them are behind me.

Would love to see them again, but if it's not doable...maybe next year.

I also agree that the "big things coming" could be an album before the end of the year.

All of that being said, the fact that these guys are still writing, recording and touring is amazing. We're a very lucky bunch.

Same. After all these years I do not get hyped up about PJ announcements.  I have been lucky enough to see plenty of great shows. If they come near me or if they are playing somewhere I am going, great. If not no worries. I have generally been slowing down on concerts with the prices getting so expensive.

I get that, but I'm not there.  My daughter is almost 16.  She has been to see PJ in Rome, Nashville and B&B and she is excited about the possibility of getting to go to another show....so that increases my excitement

A new album does not excite me at all.

New shows that come with a new album? Sure.

    New shows period? Every time.
