Probably a combination of greedy big pharma, politicians in big pharma's pocket, media that was 1) duped by them and 2) scarred to be viewed as fearmongers, a well-meaning societal fervor leading to a bit of hastiness, and maybe even backlash to the anti-vaxxers.
The existence of the vaccinations is good. I really believe that. But too many people went (or were forced) into it without a good understanding of the risks. That said, I think a lot of folks also didn't understand the risks of actually getting covid and favored a bigger risk over a smaller risk. But they needed to be able to make that choice, good or bad, on their own and some weren't. I cannot really blame someone who never wanted to get it and then had their quality of life compromised (or a family member die) after being forced for being really upset and lashing out.
In this day and age, correct/good/accurate/honest information is harder to come by than ever but we were duped. Myself included...sure, maybe I could have looked harder into it, but when all I hear is "It's going to kill you" and "they're safe" I chose to trust the less fear-mongering people and those that seemed (and maybe even were) less politically motivated. But there should have been a lot more "they're generally safe, but..." from them.
Very well said..I have been saying this for three years now..with zero information as they have already admitted they forced the world to make the vaccine..any critical thought was baptized a conspiracy theory..anyone who expressed an opposing opinion was marginalized..doctors and scientists all over the world were vilified.. shame on our society..

I had to google what happened as i dont really watch news to often but it says he tweeted something about a cardiologist saying it was like the holocaust which is ridiculous so he got suspended which i agree with, you cant say stuff like that. As for dr.aseem again i had to google him but seems he started out advocating the vaccines and now he thinks it causes more harm and we are better off concentrating on obesity and diabetes as the answer to covid outcomes.

While I’m no fan of profit oriented healthcare, making money is the system we live in, so it’s more about AW’s bias around the vaccine. Chrysler made a car that explodes and ignored the fix because it was considered too expensive. Does AW not get into cars? The bias translates to grasping at things to try and confirm that the lack of trust is justified. Like calling Moderna “big pharma” to make it sound scary but not looking at the company’s history.

Of course they'd approve it, but it doesn't mean Norway or Costa Rica would. They sold it as "new updated Omicron booster" and didn't include Omicron infection data. Real shocker.

I listened to this Jon Stewart podcast during my commute this week, called "A nuanced discussion about Covid vaccines." They discussed at length the way people who ask questions are vilified simply for asking questions. I remember being vilified here in the earliest weeks of the pandemic, and it turns out I was wrong about some things and I'm okay with being wrong. But one thing I'll never regret is staying open and curious and asking questions.
