Hopefully today is Phish tour announcement, then Pearl Jam.

It's been almost 2 full years since 2020 got cancelled.

I think I saw 11 Phish shows last year.

I get the feeling that Pearl Jam simply isn't as interested in touring as they used to be, perhaps mixed with a more cautious view of Covid than pretty much any other band (DMB, Phish, Tool, NIN, etc all toured last year and/or have announced upcoming dates).
They said at SHN (and in various interviews) that they love playing live, but so many factors are in play here. They had roughly 50 family members at Ohana between the 6 (Boom) of them. No one wants that Ric Flair/Cats in the Cradle rep.
They also have a rep for being extra cautious & safe in all things since Roskilde. None of those other bands have ever experienced that level of tragedy, and had it kind of looming over their performance. PJ still does. At SHN & Ohana, they stopped mid-song to make sure someone was okay.
Tool is in a weird place because they play the same set 80% of the time, and another set w/Sober the other 20%. They rarely commission new art for posters, as well. Hell, they picked a Frank Frazetta piece for Orlando. I think they're close to being done.
DMB were a little too cavalier last year, and they paid for it. At least 3 band members came down with Covid, and while they made for interesting shows, Carter, Rashawn Ross & Jeff Coffin are high risk. They got through it, but the whole band was rattled.
I see PJ doing little jaunts here & there, no more than 12 cities at a time. They don't need 100 date tours anymore, let alone half that. They will pick their spots, listen to their bodies, their hearts & their conscience (and most of all eachother), We're lucky to still have them around at all ;)

I completely agree with all you said about PJ taking it safe. In Cincinnati 2014, there was a minor issue with fans all trying to get in the main entrance (where the tragedy with The Who fans was) and PJ delayed going on the stage for maybe 20 minutes or so until everyone was in.

In the show, we got Love Boat Captain (probably not a coincidence) and then Eddie mentioned how The Who reached out to them after Roskilde and drew parallels between the two bands. PJ then played The Real Me which, as Eddie put it, "was the last song they played that night" being The Who in Cincinnati.
Side note: let's get PJ back to Ohio.

    PJ - 09/23/98: West Palm Beach II, 08/12/00: Tampa, 04/12/03: Orlando, 04/13/03: Tampa, 06/12/08: Tampa, 06/27/08: Hartford, 09/22/09: Seattle II, 04/11/16: Tampa, 05/01 & 05/02/16: MSG I & II, 09/18/21: Sea Hear Now, 10/01 & 10/02/21: Ohana Encore I & II, 05/06 & 05/07/22: Los Angeles I & II, 09/11/22: MSG, 09/16/22: Nashville, 09/02/23: St. Paul II, 09/07/23: Chicago II, 09/18 & 09/19/23: Austin I & II

According to Apple maps Oak to SJ is 45 minutes and Oak to Sac 75.  It’s not that much of a difference, though I have no opinion or preference either way.  Play ‘em both!

    Okay, here's how I did:
    • 1st draft, 11/26/21 = 0 picks right. I was a sweet summer child thinking they'd do it this way.
    • 2nd draft, 11/28/21 = 1 pick! LA II turned out to be LA I. Only off by one day on Glendale/Phoenix, too.
    • Balt. 12/14/21 = I didn't want to be right, but I surmised that Baltimore will either be outside the city, or not on at all. I also receive a screencap of Smithers doing the All The Presidents Men schtick from a user who will remain anonymous.
    • 3rd draft, 12/15/21 = 2 picks right! I somehow got LA I & II right. Phoenix still off by a day. Had a feeling we'd have to wait 2 legs to get all the 2020 dates covered. I wasn't the first, AFAIK, but I saw the writing on the wall. If we get any ballparks last minute, I make the first pitch here.
    • 4th draft, 12/17/21 = no major changes to Leg I from draft 3, but I introduce my rough idea for Leg II. I was WAY off, lol. I had dreams of grandeur, for sure... BUT, I think I was the first to ponder Vegas as a stop. Only off by about 8 days on my Denver prediction!
    • 5th draft, 01/24/22 = I held onto LA for dear life, but that Leg 1 was still a lot of swings & misses. I listen to the board about fall weather (having forgotten by living in Florida) and switch up those dates for late summer & I got two dates right for Leg 2: Ottawa & Hamilton! The current logistics don't make sense across the board, but hey... they'll donate cash to offset the carbon cost ;) (Also, much closer with Denver by 3 days).
    • At this point, I get a few tips & hints thrown my way, but nothing concrete/100%. I keep my resolve!
    • 6th draft, 03/06/22 = LA remains my only constant, but I see with the more leaks that come out, that the order might be wrong. I also take a wild guess that San Jose, or Fresno gets a show, and the latter prevails (at this point, I'm all in on Vegas, but incorrectly assume there are 2 dates - I'll give myself 1/2 a point for that one), and I get within one day's difference for Denver, finally.
At that point, everything was blown WIDE open, and I expected none of my picks to be right today, but 4.5 dates ain't bad just on leg work & research!
Now, I just have to get into to some of these shows :nervous laugh:

If you can run a park for the World Series, you can run it for PJ. I used Nov 2nd as a cut off date (when the Cubs won Game 7 in Cleveland).
    • Mon. Oct 10th - Wed. Nov 2nd: Fenway Park is open (again, if you can have a World Series, you can have a PJ show... with free cocoa).
    • Mon. Oct 10th - Wed. Nov 2nd: Camden Yards is open.
    • Mon. Oct 10th - Wed. Nov 2nd: Citizens Bank Park is open.
    • Mon. Oct 10th - Wed. Nov 2nd: Wrigley Field is open.
    • Mon. Oct 10th - Wed. Nov 2nd: American Family Field (Miller Park, Milwaukee) is open. Retractable roof!
    • Mon. Oct 10th - Wed. Nov 2nd: T-Mobile Park (Safeco Field, Seattle) is open. Also has retractable roof!
While Wrigley would be a little chilly, we've damaged the planet enough to where it's a possibility to run it in Mid-October. Feel free to swap out dates, or ball parks, but they could totally pull this off. No rumors to solidify, this is all pure speculation.

I would be shocked if Boston grants any new licenses for Fenway shows, but I've been shocked before.

The people at Camden Yards did specifically mention Pearl Jam and the Foo Fighters in a tweet about wanting to hold concerts there. Just saying.

Thank you for keeping hope alive! Crossing my fingers for Camden Yards!

I doubt that Wrigley would happen this year. They currently have 7 shows set for Wrigley, and they are only licensed for 4 concerts per summer, typically. Some of those are from previously cancelled years, so that's probably why they can go over the typical amount.  But I wouldnt think this would happen.

If Wrigley is not available, then they should consider Great American ballpark in Cincinnati. Ed would probably get a kick out of the steamboat in the outfield bleachers.

Yah, I don't see a ballpark show in Seattle in late October either.   I know it's got a roof that can open/close but late October gets into rainy/cold season up here in the PNW.  You don't usually see to many outdoors type shows (Even with a roof) past labour day.. maybe mid/late september on a rarity.

I think ballpark/stadium tours are more summer kind of things, than fall kind of things.

This does not work at all. MLB does not allow a team to officially book concerts during October until their team is eliminated. None of those venues are open right now. At best, a team could commit to a show that would be announced later (this happened in 2003 when Springsteen ended his Rising Tour at Shea Stadium in October, the dates were known for months but couldn't be announced until the Mets were officially eliminated). Considering the Red Sox stand a strong chance of being in the playoffs, there is almost no way that could work as at the very minimum they will likely go deep into September before they would be eliminated.  Same thing with Milwaukee. The others at best, you'd be waiting deep into the season before those shows could be announced.

There's no way ballparks are happening, IMO, given the complete lack of credible rumors. Anything's possible, sure, but it's pretty late to be announcing ballpark shows, no matter where they are.

Agreed. I see a few ballparks and amphitheaters next year happening, while the album gets mixed.

Finish the 2022 stuff, that keeps them busy until end of september.
Back in the studio to work on and finish the album end of year, into 2023.
2023, festivals and ballparks. Hopefully some amphitheater shows.
2024 comes tour for new album.

There’s some shows that even have… cough cough…unsold tickets (never thought I’d type that phrase about Pearl Jam) and some with behind stage still not released. At this point they’d be shooting themselves in the foot adding hundreds of thousands of tickets in a run of stadiums when demand isn’t what it used to be pre Covid.

That's certainly part of it, but the schedule just isn't as friendly, and there really isnt enough time to announce a major string of ballpark shows.  It seems with the Bourbon thing, they still have a few tricks left up their sleeve for this year...Ohana, and probably 1 or 2 other festivals, etc.  But Ballparks are not in the cards for this year.
