Bill Barr scoffs at election fraud flick 2000 Mules
Attorney General William Barr laughed off the movie 2000 Mules duringrecorded testimony played by the House select committee investigating the Capitol riot Monday.
Barr chuckled when asked about the documentary, which had been put together by Dinesh D'Souza and other conservative activists contending that a plethora of ballot-harvesting “mules” funded by Democrats engaged in nefarious activity near election boxes on Election Day.
"I haven't seen anything since the election that changes my mind on that, including the 2000 Mules movie," he said, laughing. "The premise that, you know, if you go buy a box, five boxes or whatever it was, you know that that's a mule is just indefensible."
The movie made a number of provocative claims, including that there was cellphone data showing evidence of the purported "mules" near drop boxes on Election Day. Barr was unimpressed and pointed to the claim about cellphone data specifically.
“The cellphone data is singularly unimpressive. If you take 2 million cellphones and figure out where they are, physically, in a big city like Atlanta or whatever, just by definition, you’re going to find many hundreds of them have passed by and spent time in the vicinity of these boxes," he explained. "The premise that that’s a mule is indefensible.”
2000 Mules was released last month and is still playing in some theaters across the country, having earned roughly $1.5 million worldwide, per Box Office Mojo. In addition to the underlying premise about election fraud being wrong, Barr also emphasized that Trump supporters also lacked evidence the supposed fraud favored him.
"The other thing is, people don't understand is, that it's not clear that even if you can show harvesting, that that changes the results of the election," he added. "The courts are not going to throw out votes and then figure out what votes were harvested and throw them out. It's still the burden on the challenging party to show that illegal votes were cast."
During the video of his closed-door deposition, Barr stressed he has not changed his mind on 2020 election fraud claims and had used blunt language to dismiss the claims Trump and his allies peddled, referring to fraud assertions as "bulls***," "idiotic," "complete nonsense," and "detached from reality" throughout his testimony.
Barr was one of several close Trump confidants to contradict the former president's claims about election fraud during the second public Jan. 6 hearing of the year.

Me thinks some folks donated to “Stop the Steal” and went to the theater. $250,000,000 or a quarter of a billion, perpetrating some kind of myth on us all. And they still believe.
Statements like this aren't even worth his time (though I'm sure he feels better after getting this horseshit out of his system). His followers either won't/can't read more than 140 characters, or are already in deep enough that he's preaching to the converted (or perverted). That makes me think that this isn't some sort of strategic post - it's just Donald Trump's typical 'the world is out to get me'.
It also reads to me like someone had a lackey watch 20,000 Mules and produce a film report for him. Or, maybe the 20,000 Mules folks wrote it themselves and Trump made a few edits (like changing CoVID-19 to "China Virus").

And when Trump is back in the White House, they'll pay dearly. The man with a super-human love of America is going to have to spend his entire term doing a Revenge Tour.

No. Because of spinelessness and maybe even sympathy to the movement.

unfortunately i believe there will be violence either way.
if these people do not get indicted i think some people on the left will lose it and cause violence. maga will cause violence if he is indicted. either way we are on a bad road. i would rather garland do the principled thing and prove that there are not 2 different systems of justice, one for the rich, one for the poor, and have there be violence rather than have there be violence due to inaction.
"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
you have to make the country that you want to live in. maga is trying to do that by passing all of these draconian laws. those that have power to enforce laws and do not do it deserve to lose their position. if you do not fight for what you already have, you deserve to lose it. just my thoughts.
"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
I see a two track approach taken by garland and state AGs in that Garland can go after POOTWH for wire fraud and maybe interfering with an official proceeding. However, it’s fraught with a repub house interfering by holding hearings, requesting documents and hamstringing DOJ budgets. Then a 2024 POTUS pardons his ass.,The other parallel track is for DOJ to supply state AGs with investigators and evidence so they can prosecute state civil and criminal cases. You have state wire fraud statutes to enforce in sympathetic states, NY, and attempted election fraud statutes to prosecute in GA. Then there are the civil cases filed by those harmed by POOTWH’s actions.
All of that said, we’re in unpresidented times and if it rolls out like I’ve described, there will be violence from the right. If nothing happens, no charges, no trial or POOTWH is allowed to cop a plea with no consequences, then the republic has been ceded and the wheels are off the bus and the level of malfeasance and corruption will be times 10. This shit trickles down and you’ll see corruption everywhere, think you want a building permit or a business license or a government contract ? Better grease the skids or know somebody. This is how republics fail. I’m afraid that enough ‘Muricans don’t care or are on the wrong side of history. It’s going to get far worse before it gets better.
How’s that for brilliant brilliance in all its brilliancy and fruit from the poisonous tree?
Do you guys think Garland would refuse to bring charges against him because of fear of civil unrest by the MAGA mob?
No. Because of spinelessness and maybe even sympathy to the movement.
Uhmm really?
Maybe "sympathy to the movement" is a bit cynical. But he's definitely not a bold actor. As SCOTUS justice he may have been OK (certainly better than Trump's picks) but with all the shit going on, I think he's been timid (at best; spineless at worst).

Nice. Whatcha gonna do Minority Leader? Aiding and abetting an insurrection? In violation of your oath of office? You don't say?
About 24 hours before the January 6 Capitol attack, Republican member of Congress Barry Loudermilk led an unofficial tour through the House office buildings, passing by the security checkpoints located at the entrances to the tunnels leading towards the Capitol building.
The tour included a man who took photos of the tunnel entrances and the US Capitol police checkpoints, and then joined thousands of Donald Trump supporters the following day to march on the Capitol from the rally on the Ellipse.
That person’s activity was captured on security cameras and turned over to the House select committee investigating the insurrection at the Capitol. The panel made the footage publicly available on Wednesday in a letter demanding cooperation in its inquiry from Loudermilk.
The footage showing the man, and others, stopping to photograph the tunnels and checkpoints bolsters the allegation from Democrats that the tour amounted to a reconnaissance event in preparation for the Capitol attack.
It also cast doubt on Loudermilk’s previous denials that he led a tour connected in any way to January 6. Loudermilk first denied he led a tour, then said he gave a tour only to families with young children, then said he gave a tour to about 16 people.
The video evidence additionally challenged a recent letter from the US Capitol police chief Tom Manger, who informed Loudermilk that “we train our officers on being alert for people conducting surveillance … we do not consider any of the activities we observed as suspicious.”
The tour was also notable because officially, tours were banned at the time due to Covid measures. The only people in the Capitol that day should have been members of Congress and staff, reporters, US Capitol police and official business visitors.

He’s shook. He can’t believe that he’s before a congressional investigative committee testifying on this particular subject. He never thought that part of his golden years would be spent defending the republic from an attempted coup. Never even in his lifetime. And yet, there he finds himself. Sad times.
