The part I struggle with is overwhelming hospitals.  Maybe it's more of an issue here in Canada as our health are system was already struggling before covid.

Say Omicron is less lethal, but spreads faster.    For arguments say it's 1/2 as lethal.   But if it's 3x more contagious it would still put more pressure on hospitals that are already at capacity.   Lower percentage of people having complications, but more people overall due to big numbers getting infected.

I've already met people or seen them pass away because the system is full, and treatments (for things like cancer) were delayed.

I'm not against the let it rip theory, but at the same time, you know it's going to overload hospitals, not because omicron is less mild, but because of how fast it can spread.

I really don't want to be the person that gets a bad case of it and the hospital has no room for me :(

Do the hospitals not know it's only a pandemic for the unvaccinated now?  /s
I have no doubts that every area has it's own issues but here is a news story from Washington state saying that the hospitals are full but it isn't because of COVID. https://www.king5.com/article/news/local/hospitals-full-covid-patients-washington/281-9e983f35-579d-4ed2-8eba-99631977ab90

This is the kind of thing why people don't take COVID serious anymore.

really? has nothing to do with right wing "news" and politicians constantly downplaying it? it's all because of perceived Dem hypocrisy?

Why is it hypocritical to remove the mandate if 100% of attendees/employees are vaccinated?

The fully vaccinated are still catching and spreading COVID. Not to mention, this is only in San Francisco. There are plenty of other cities that have offices and gyms with people that are 100% vaccinated so it isn't fair to those busineses outside of S.F.

So whatever one city council or mayor does, then all other cities in America must do, otherwise it's "not fair"?  You're kidding, right?

We are talking about California, not America as a whole. What I am talking about has nothing to do with city council or a mayor.

Well it sounds like the rule allows some latitude.  Sounds like it's more common sense than not far.

How is it common sense when the vaccinated are still catching and spreading COVID? Being 100% vaccinated doesn't mean you are safe. I know more people that have died from COVID while being full vaccinated than have died with COVID being non-vaccinated. Once again, that is only my personal experience but if this is truly a pandemic that we all need to take serious, everyone should be wearing masks indoors.

How many people do you know that have died?  And you are saying more of them were vaccinated than unvaxxed?  Unless the numbers are 2 and 1, I'm not quite buying this statement.

me neither. even if anecdotal, that stat doesn't hold up in the greater population. so it's basically meaningless.

Feds ask Canadians to avoid travelling internationally

Lol.   Yeah I’m sure people who got vacations booked south are giving them…nope.

This reminds me of how when you download a new app on iPhone, it'll give you the option to "allow app to track," or "ask app not to track." In other words, the app is going to track you.

Me: Hey app, can you please not track me?
App: Thanks for asking, but no, I'm going to track you.
No one is cancelling their vacations or holiday plans.  Why should they?  Especially if your fully vaxxed.  Lmfao.  Our federal government is incompetent.

Starting Monday anyone 18+ and 84 days out from their 2nd dose can get a booster.  If you had concert tickets, hockey tickets or tickets to events with capacity over 1000 these events are restricted to 50% capacity…so obviously some ticket holders will have their tickets 🎟  voided…

84 days out?  That is less than 3 months.  I thought it was previously recommended to wait at least 6 months from being fully vaccinated to get a booster.  Is there now scientific evidence that shows there is a benefit to cutting that timeline by more than half?  It is dizzying to try and keep up.

  • Its  3 months here now too.
This  omicron is sooooo contagious  my family members barely saw eachother and all positive  except my unvaccinated  17 years old
